The SV-1 is a straight downgrade from your corvette idk why you want one other than the special snowflake factor it has
It's older therefore better.

as a general rule for my mentality, anything before 1979 is bad

79-94 is generally my sweet spot of cool retro shit

Oh wait, that's a factory car in the OP? I thought it was a niggered out Pontiac Fiero.

nah dude, this is the Bricklin SV1. i was just turned onto it recently by a guy i work with when i told him my dream car was the delorean.

i actually like it a bit more, tbh. i LOVE the delorean, but this one is so much more feasibly acquired and i can customise it as i please (it looks fucking sharp in red, whereas the delorean really only looks good in the bttf silver)

You can complete the dex in Gen 1 (I think Gen 2 as well) all by yourself if you exploit simple glitches, which is nice.

im playing gen 3

All hail the 80's and the gloriousness that spawned from it.

yeah but the bricklin was made in 75
Close enough

it definitely has that 80s vibe though

thats what i love about

also it has the gull wings of the delorean but its actually the only one with the automated closing/opening feature

the delorean and lincoln models with gull wings are manual afaik

yeah but see, that's the thing

i wouldn't have to play the same game twice if it weren't for this omastar business

in fire red/leaf green, you can acquire on any given playthrough
~one of the legendary dogs
~one of the kanto starters
~hitmonchan/lee
~electabuzz/magmar
and
~kabutops/omastar

if i get, say, entei in fire red, i'll be able to acquire the other two dogs in colosseum (as well as another entei) and transfer them over to the main games.

if i chose hitmonchan in fire red, i'll be able to get hitmontop in colosseum and hitmonlee in XD.

if i play fire red and get electabuzz, i'll be able to get magmar via XD.

if i choose kabuto in fire red, there's no way of getting omanyte unless i play through virtually the entire game again, resulting in
a) erasing my file
or
b) spending another 30 bucks on the alternate game (leaf green)

i'd also be missing out on the starters, but its not worth going through that hassle either cuz i'd have to start a new game a couple of times to get them all.

i'm trying to complete the visuals for my pokedex (not even necessarily collect them all, just see them all) and i can't in fire red because no one has an omastar and you can't acquire one from any of the other gen 3 games including Colosseum and xd.

so now i need to buy leaf green and play up until blaine just to fucking get this shit. ugh.

it might be worth it if any of the gift pokemon/legendary pokemon you'd get from playing through again weren't available in the other games, but i can get all the legendary dogs, starters and hitmons from xd/colosseum.

all i wanna do is get the johto starters in emerald cuz i've never done that but i can't move onto hoenn until i finish kanto.

oh basically you just aren't allowed to be the only person in the car with a g1 holder?
Interesting.

yeah that's it

and there's a few other things, like punishments for tickets being more severe/the alcohol levels being lower if you have a g2, but those hardly ever apply to me cuz i'm a big ol boyscout

No I have to pay for big boy things

I didn't know you didn't even have your licence yet

i do

in canada we have the g system

g1 -- can only drive with someone who has had their full g license for over 4 years

g2 (what i have) -- don't need anyone to drive with you, restriction-less after 6 months. must be renewed within 4 years of earning

g license -- full license, after 4 years you can drive with a g1 holder

i'm eligible for my full license and i could get it very easily by going into the store, but i just haven't found the time. the g2 is functionally the same as the full g.

the only reason i use pokeballs is because i have ocd

starter pokemon, gift and egg pokemon all come out of a pokeball, therefore any mon on my team must also come out of a pokeball

uniformity
ah, that's how you do it

I work a bit differently, because that's not uniformity to me. A Mewtwo in a regular Poké Ball just doesn't sit right in my head--it belongs in the Master Ball. Most powerful Pokémon -> most powerful Poké Ball. It's also purple, so it couldn't be any more perfect.

yeah that thought has crossed my mind before

unfortunately i think the pokeball's simplistic design is far cooler than anything else except maybe cherish and premier balls, and the master ball is just gross looking so it tarnishes mewtwo's cool factor

i also threw around the idea of using my master ball on the roaming pokemon of each game (dog in fr/lg, eon in rse, etc.) but after gen 3 it's too hard to do so

Gaming / Re: tfw you spend 4 hours hunting Entei (FR)

I always ditched my starter in my PC and just used Premier Balls for my whole team.

I also generally tried to just have 3 Pokemon in my party unless I was doing the Elite Four

yeah premier balls are dope, but giving up my starter was always too much to ask for

starters are the heart of my immersion in these games

"If a roaming Pokémon uses Roar to flee from battle, it will permanently disappear for the current save file, unless the player does not save the game after this occurs."

Wow, that's fucked.

yeah

luckily i taught my golbat taunt and mean look so it works out well

cuz you only catch legendaries in pokeballs and gen 3 has the roar glitch that fucks everything up

The US is just a really shitty place to live right now and I'm making a lot more money than most of my friends to boot, which is not a good thing.

People literally live on top of each other just to make ends meet around my area, and 'you can't do both' kind of just put me in defence mode. Like, nobody here has money, ever, so I'm always the one who ends up shelling out to feed people, since I'm just not heartless enough to watch them starve.

i get it

sorry, i had good intentions with this thread and i don't know what the situation is like in the US

I spend about 10k-15k a year just on the essentials.

I only make about $17,000

In Syrup scented scratch n sniff stickers that comes out to:

13k-19k out of 22k

You can probably expect to spend 1/5 of what I spend at the grocery store though, since I usually feed five people, or more since we have company almost daily.

well yeah, i make more money than that and i don't spend nearly as much as you seem to so it makes sense that i can save up.

In all, I can see where you'd have money to waste on superficial things, but please don't pretend anyone else does.

i didn't mean to be rude. i was just looking to talk about cars and shit.

Bleh, fancy cars look cool, but what do they offer besides transport and vanity?

I'd much prefer to spend my money on something substantial.

that's it, they look cool as an accessory and you get places in them

cars are just so damn cool

Okay, well imagine taking all the money you were going to spend on that car, and deciding not to be homeless instead.

And all the money you spend on your 90s knick knacks?
That goes to not being hungry.

Simple stuff.

what? i already do that. i didn't graduate high school so my folks make me pay rent or they'll kick me out again (and considering my job for the next year at least is stationed in this city it just makes good sense). and because i'm a vegan i'm forced to buy my own food, too.

also,

80s knick knacks*

The Flood / Re: anyone actively saving up for their dream car?

I won't buy a car more than 10-20% of my yearly income.  I have a lot of other things to buy with greater utility-to-price ratio.  I have no use buying materialistic things.

gotcha. most of the things i buy are pretty cheap (i mostly shop at thrift stores and stuff) so i get to spend a little more money on something like a car. plus i want to get into the automotive business and working on a car in my spare time will help that goal.

The Flood / Re: anyone actively saving up for their dream car?

Absolutely not.

I can't just shove $15,000 in the hole to buy an old Bricklin, or a Galaxie 500.
I'm barely just doing my best to get by, and I'm already $5,000 in debt.

Not to mention, FORGET trying to insure something like that.
I know what it costs, and I want no part of it.

well i'm sorry to hear that

but fyi i'm still on my learner's permit for a few months and my insurance on my current car isn't nearly that bad (though i put it away for the winter and such so maybe that has something to do with it) and its around the same level of price and worth as the bricklin.
