Started this construction gig just over a month ago. Guy routinely neglected to pay me (he actually owes me about $700, not including this week's work.) Doing construction is all fine and good, but the boss is extremely hard to work with. Add on top of that my severe lack of experience doing basic things like shoveling or using a wheelbarrow and his poor teaching skills and short temper and, well, you have less optimal working conditions.

Anyways, I was offered a job at a mechanics shop learning from the ground up the ancient art of fixing cleaning machines. You probably seen them at churches or community centres, they're like zambonis but for the floor. 14/hour, 8 AM - 5 PM everyday. Time and a half on weekends, cash pay. Benefits. Car insurance (which is good considering my last encounter with the long dick of the law will probably set me back a few bucks on insurance.) Called the guy and left a message but things look good. All I gotta do is tell my current boss.

I'm going to miss learning all the little tricks of construction and the effects its had on my physical shape but this work is seasonal so I'd only have a month or two left and I'm ass at it. At least I know my way around electronics and mechanics somewhat.

wish it didnt have such a lousy motor as far as performance goes but the 305 is pretty fuel efficient for a v8 so i cant complain
Is it a five speed or a auto?

auto
LU5 crossfire motor.
Honestly not terrible. Yeah it only has 160/170 horse, but you've still got 245 ftlbs of torque. You can also gain a little bit of quick, cheap power simply by finding some headers from a 350 tpi car to swap on. It has a cult following and a decent aftermarket too, plenty of forums for troubleshooting and general help.

Low horse high torque V8 motors are pretty fun. They're super reliable, practically bulletproof, and you can have fun without breaking the law too much or putting yourself at risk for much. You can scoot around on backroads real fun like because of all the torque available at low rpm.

I daily a wagon that has more power than your C4 vette, and honestly I'd love to have a car just like my old 78 impala with the anemic boat-anchor-with-a-2bbl 305 back one day... just this time not falling apart faster than I have the time or experience to keep up with.

so does torque help with making quick corners and drifts and stuff like that
Torque wins wars. Maximum acceleration occurs at peak horsepower, but, higher torque outputs means you get to that figure faster.
So yes. Torque is what breaks wheels loose and what-not. It's what allows you to have fun without needing to rev to 9k.

Does Canada use HP and FtLbs torque, or are you guys like the rest of the faggots elsewhere and measure things in Kilowatts and Newton Meters?

nice.

im pretty sure officially we use kilowatts but ive never come across them in action. everyone talks in hp and ftlbs.

alrght so the guy in the op is being fucking gay and not responding so im looking at 2 other options

1. 1989 MINT red and black trans am with rebuilt 350 v8 with only 200 km (NOT 200k) and 5 speed manual transmission. never been einter driven. the guy is asking 4900 but i think he'd take 3500. so a bit more expensive but this thing is pristine ... which really only means that ill ruin it by driving in the winter, and for the extra money, id rather not.

2. red 1983 trans am with 305 v8 and some body work (less than the one in OP but enough rust and scratches to make winter driving seem acceptable.) hes asking for 1500, something i could easily do. no emissions test is also nice.

problem is, second guy hasnt responded to me either.

If you're gonna do the effort of an engine swap though, and I assume this car is for fun mostly, go with an older small block. Build a 300 horse 350 rather easily.

how much older should i be looking? like, l81 or something?
L82 or L48 is a nice motor.

which one of those is better

and how much do they go for?

how difficult/expensive would it be to swap the base 305 with the 350 if this guy doesn't come through?

there's another transam with the 5.7 that i could buy for cheap but the transmission needs to be fixed and its a gross yellow colour so i've been looking at v6 versions of the car for potential purchases

That type of car along with your Vette I would love to have for joyriding, but why not get something newer which can also handle winter better for your everyday car?

because that's more expensive and id rather spend my money on a cool car i like than something temporary ill only use for half the year
It would still make more sense to safe up for a decent vehicle which was made in the 2000's than to waste it on some car which is older than you by a good amount of years or stupidity like by buying an old Walkman for $100.

lots of people drive old cars in the winter. im not communting much so it doesnt really matter.

and unlike the walkman this makes far more financial sense because of how cheap it is.

Still think Trump won the debate?

His own running mate is starting to distance himself.

Trump should just be his own runningmate anyway.

I could totally see him doing something like that.

Most guys talk a big game when they're with their boys, and him being normal like that makes him more likable, honestly.

And he remained calm and collected the whole time. Not aggressive at all, just... unflinching, maybe? Not sure what word to use.

I mean, laugh all you want but I'm calling it like I see it.

Y'know, I watch all these guys on YouTube like John Oliver or Bill Maher and how they all take their pot shots at Trump, and over time, build him up to be this colossal buffoon that is completely unhinged and unfit to lead their country. So when I tune in for the first time and watch the full length of a debate and see this calm, respectful dude who, to me, looks to have more integrity in his left hand than his opponent does in her whole body, I'm shocked at the rap this guy has.

I don't follow politics outside of my country but I can tell you just by looking at the two candidates that I don't trust Clinton as far as I could throw her.
Dude, he's a salesman. Of course he has that charm to him where if you see him talk he seems like a good guy.

But that doesn't change the fact that he's a crook.

They're both crooks, and even if Trump is full of shit, at least his salesman charm makes him likable.
