gogeta being canonized was nice too.
This didn't happen though

gt is/was canon
As far as I'm concerned, no Toriyama involvement beyond some character illustrations makes it non canon from the start.

While DB and Z have the manga, Super has Toriyama's outlines and character art (and Toyotaro as his chosen successor). I'm pretty sure Dragon Ball Online even had more Toriyama input than GT.

i mean, what is canon is decided by the owner and distributor. disney decides what is canon with star wars, not lucas.

besides, gts art style is waaay cooler than some of super's stuff.

Toei doesn't own dragon ball

they owned the right to create under the license

i thought about using the word "creator" but i knew someone would try to argue that that right belongs to toriyama

the only own the rights for the anime

shueisha inc. actually owns dragonball

okay but im talking about the anime...

what's wrong with GT, again? as far as i'm concerned it embodies the best of both dragon ball and dragon ball z animes without all the filler in a concise, two-season run. far less asspulls than dbz and dbs (from what i can tell).

super saiyan 4 is a sweet transformation, super 17, baby vegeta and shadow dragons were all pretty cool. gogeta being canonized was nice too.

so whats the deal
it was the execution and the first arc for the most part, oh and the inconsistency with power levels and scaling.

im watching the first arc right now and its not even that bad. ive actually laughed a few times from gokus shenanigans.

what inconsistencies with power levels

the only gripe i have is that super saiyan was reduced to a power up instead of a transformaton.

Don't know, we'll probably get english Buu Kai first if they decide to not air them aside each other

yeah but fucking when

buu kai has been in development for like 3 years

pretty sure it already finished in Japan

so the delay probably had something to do with the deal FOX has due to DB: Evolution, which in case you aren't aware means they get first pick on everything and if they don't give an answer on something Funimation has to wait a certain amount of time before they're allowed to pick it up

i meant "english dub development"

i was under the impression that the cast was  starting the developing for the buu saga for kai 3 years ago

so is super done for the time being?

i honestly couldve forgiven the entire game if only we had some more interaction with liquid and boss. make the reveal actually somewhat surprising, make liquid look up to boss while venom shits all over him (making his hatred for him in MGS1 more believable/justified). make boss always compare eli to david to explain his resentment for solid.

that was the biggest let down for me, considering liquid is my fav mg character.
Why is Liquid your fav? He's only around for one game and even then he's not even that amazing to me aside from a catchphrase or two.

Solidus was easily the better written of the two, and actually has motivations that don't exactly put him on the "bad guy" side in such an easy light. Kinda did what Big Boss did, only to be cut down by his "son".
If only such a wonderful man would be our president in real life:
Spoiler

But holy fucking shit you guys, how have you managed to make a thread this big?

Anyone ever notice how Liquid is basically just Dio? His appearance and entire story matches Dio's perfectly. Maybe Kojima was inspired by the character or something.

*bumps shamelessly*

i have no idea who dio is and i really dont care to find out

a little too much bulk but with a scowl, some facial stubble, a bandanna and a cigarette you could be a 10/10 solid snake

If NASA gets more funding because of this I will consider this an upside to Trump being president.

More likely the money from environmental science stuff will just be put into the space program instead.
Fucking fuck

the planet's already fucked beyond saving

space exploration is literally our only hope to survive

I can't think of a situation in the near future where sending people into space would be anywhere near as efficient as toughing it out on Earth.

Overpopulation? You'd have to transport hundreds of thousands offworld every day just to keep even with population growth.

Global Warming? Flooding and the like would be disastrous, sure, but I don't see how going into space would be any easier.

Nukes/ Asteroids/ Supervolcano/ whatever? Living in a bunker would still ultimately be easier. No disaster event would be threatening enough to make living on Mars or something more profitable than living in a similar bunker on Earth, with the added bonus of being able to scavenge and recover existing infrastructure. Even if it came to the worst, Earth still has an atmosphere, radiation shielding, liquid water and livable temperatures which aren't present anywhere else in the solar system.

Going into space is cool and I'm a big advocate for extraterrestrial resource extraction and whatnot, but until we have the technology it's a meme that isn't viable nor practical.

so youre telling me global warming wont cause the extinction of the human race

wtf.

John Oliver is the best and arguably smartest of the late night crew (unless you count someone like Bill Maher, maybe) but he is dreadfully unfunny. I'd much prefer his show drop the comedy shtick and stick with opinionated commentary.
