Oh, yeah. While you were gone, I kinda got into Marilyn Manson a bit. You a fan or nah?
ehhh
anything beyond the triptych i can't really get into, but i respect him immensely as an artist
Hmm... I've only had the chance to listen to Superstar and Animals but Holy Wood is my next pickup probably. I assume that's what you mean by triptych.
His next album (Say10, comes out Valentine's Day, idk if you follow him at all) is apparently the most "thematic and complex thing he's ever done, mixing the best of Superstar and Animals as well as new stuff." In one of the promo vids, he alludes to slicing the throat of a man intended to be Donald Trump, so... you may be interested in that.
Holy wood is pretty great tbh.
Coool. Can't wait.
There's some edgy shit in there but I like his style for the most part. He's an artist that I like for the most part but I can't relate to the lyrics anymore so it's not as enjoyable as it used to be.

Too bad. I like guys who are over the top in one direction or another. I like Manson and I'm looking forward to exploring more of his stuff, starting with Holy Wood.
It's really the religious aspect that drags it down for me. I've softened my views on Christianity as a whole and I can't relate anymore.
What do you mean by "softened"?

Best case scenario us exploring space violates some intergalactic treaty that we didn't know about that demands our immediate extinction
Worse case scenario we discover hospitable planets and populate them.

Yeah basically you just have to remember that every human being is not special and then there's no pressure
The trick is remaining interested in the person after you remember that

As much as I'd love to see Trump's reaction to being denied a place in the Hall of Presidents, if they do add him, he better be like the ET ride from Universal Studios.

The new EP was good. Underwhelmed on the first listen, but it did indeed get better on subsequent listens.
It's good to hear that Trent's still capable of making heavy music, albeit with a modern twist. I'd say my biggest gripe with it is the lyrics, which sadly continue to be a little on the generic side (which was HM's problem, as well). You may have noticed, but Trent has a habit of recycling the same rhyme schemes over and over again--I'm sure you've noticed that he REALLY loves the word "away," and rhyming absolutely everything with it. It's like clockwork.
That being said, the instrumental work--as always--is splendid. Crisp, layered, heavy. Slow-burning. Meditative. I was impressed to see a few lo-fi tracks thrown in the mix, as well--I've developed a huge fondness for that rough texture.
Favorite tracks: She's Gone Away, the Idea of You, and Burning Bright. Dear World, is good too--sounds like something straight out of Hesitation Marks, which is an album I think I appreciate a lot more than most NIN fans (despite the subpar lyrics).
Not outstanding, but a solid, welcome release. Don't really disagree with anything you've said here, you're pretty much right on the money. Burning Bright is my favourite track, but they're all quite good. It's like With Teeth had a baby with Hesitation Marks. I usually don't "get" Trent's stuff until the second or third or fourth time through, so I know what you mean about subsequent listens. ]You know it. The Fragile is my all-time favorite album; I wouldn't miss an opportunity to listen to its outtakes. One Way to Get Here is fucking AMAZING and White Mask is pretty dope. If you haven't heard the album that he produced for Saul Williams, I'd check that out. A couple of instrumentals from that record actually made it onto Deviations as well--one of them being a personal favorite of mine. I actually hadn't heard of that album. I'll check that out as soon as possible. As for myself, I've listened to a few of the tracks off of Deviations 1, but I actually ordered the 180 gram vinyl a few weeks ago so I'm holding off until it arrives to actually sit back and listen to it. If you didn't know, I've started collecting vinyl, and I'm rebuilding my halo collection up all over again. Overall a great experience. No other artist would've done the same thing--it's great to be a NIN fan. Yup. No other artist would make their first release in several years an "unfriendly and fairly impenetrable" record. That's like the exact opposite of what someone else would do, lol. I'm glad you introduced me to his music when you did, because you're right - it's a great time to be a NIN fan. 2 new movie scores coming out, promised new NIN material that isn't Deviations 1 or NTAE, and he's performing live in New York this summer, which I'm hoping leads to a resurgence in interest for him to start touring again. I need to see him live at least once in my life. Not yet, actually. Is it good?
I enjoyed it as much as you can enjoy a movie about an act of terrorism, but I only went to see it 'cuz of Trent's involvement... he has this style that really compliments filmmaking. His music isn't obnoxiously altering the mood of the film like a Zimmer or Silverstri would, it's more complimentary and it alters the perception of any given scene in a much more subtle way. I'm looking forward to dissecting it when he releases the soundtrack on its own. I would recomend you see it soon, though.

that said, veganism is pretty easy--idk why snake is trying to say it's hard
It's hard at first and in comparispm to vegetarianism because it seems like almost everything has dairy or eggs in it. When I first started off it was a huge shock for me. Meat is pretty easy to avoid if you want, dairy and eggs aren't. Obviously I don't even consider it now (2 years into it). It's just a part of my life.

Fair enough but I just don't see why it would matter at all. If your partner has a dick and you do too it would just make sense to say you're gay. I would. Saying otherwise just makes you seem insecure about it.
Dicks can be ignored.
Yeah sure I guess but trying to put off that you date a girl who has a dick and you're not gay just seems disingenuous. Obviously you don't give a fuck what the person you're attracted to is and a label shouldn't bother you. Also welcome back

This show became irrelevant to me when I came to terms and became comfortable with my oedipus complex
You want to fuck your mum?
TIL
Some part of me I guess. The concept of fucking my mother figure turned me on for quite awhile, because of how raw and wrong it was, though I never wanted to fuck my actual mother.
Unfortunately I've moved on from that, and pushed my sexuality further into the depths of depravity. The concept no longer excites me like it used to. In fact, conventional intercourse no longer excites me like it used to.
But even back then I didn't really like this show. The mom was way too into her own son for it to appeal me in that way.
Suddenly I feel like a normie for liking regular sex and boobs
You are a normie tho

Good. I'd hate being liked by people that couldn't handle a fuck off every now and again.
It's probably not the best idea to insult people who you're trying to convert
I'm not trying to convert anyone. You can't. People are evil and selfish and will do what their genes tell them to. Anyone who can be a vegan will do so of their own accord, without convincing. Eventually.

How much time is left of his ban?
I think Psy mentioned his ban was reduced to a month (would be nice if a mod could confirm) so he'll be back on 2 February.
It should be, if it's not by then i'll remove it manually
EARLY PAROLE
Whyd you lose your custom title

vegetarianism is soft
go vegan then come back to me. dairy is hard as fuck to get out of your system.
yeah, shit like cheese and all that is hard to avoid. Silk soy milk though I legit do like more than regular milk. Their very vanilla one is god tier.
Exactly. Dairy is in everything... and then you have to add in egg's to the avoid list... it's not fuckin easy.

We weren't talking about the objectivivity of the statements though, we were talking about why people in general aren't fond of vegans. People don't like vegans because they're elitist and pompous about their superiority and everyone else is sensitive about it. If you only tell people to fuck off instead of to please go away them you're going to be disliked by other people.
Good. I'd hate being liked by people that couldn't handle a fuck off every now and again.

Peta takes what they can get. The bill to take wolves off the endangered species list is pending, what more is there to do.
Probably bring more attention to it since PETA is so loud and in your face about it. I don't think the bill is even on the media radar with the whole Muslim country ban being the week's hot topic
Bringing more attention to a pending bill won't do anything

I don't know it's pretty fucking stupid tbh I'm just saying, OPs contention doesn't make much sense to me
