3) Also, making fun of Christianity in art isn't "daring", it's so overdone that it's just kicking someone while their down.
pretty true nowadays
but when it was done 20 years ago, it was daring.
I bet if OP tried to make art insulting Muslims there would be rioting in the street.
no

Marilyn Manson is garbage. Just shock value with no artistic merit.
shocking people has artistic value.
I can't have an objective discussion about what is artistic value. I will say I respect Manson, I just don't like his music.
how do you call his music garbage but then say you respect him?
Think about it, just take a minute to ponder the question you just asked.
so you dont have an answer? gotcha
It's called separating art from artist.
yeah, sure. but you straight up called manson's work garbage. you can't respect an artist who creates art you think is trash. its one thing to respect an artist for making art you dont particularly enjoy. thats how i feel about david bowie. but no, you said it was garbage and had no artistic value. so.

so far pretty good
How's the album as a whole? I'm pretty sure the only song I know on that album is Eighties
excellent, actually. i was turned on to these guys because i'm looking to expand and understand the industrial rock genre as well as my other favourite genre (new wave), but after doing some research on this album, apparently, this album strikes the "perfect balance" of the band's early aggression (industrial rock) and calmer accessiblity (new wave). the sound of the album reminds me a bit of that one song by the smiths, how soon is now.
I'll definitely take a look at the album then, sounds like a good band to get into
it's a good album, but according to what i'm reading, everything after this point becomes generic and bland.
i'm thinking of picking up revelations next, which is their most popular album before night time. i figure that's a good place to start if i wanna pick up on their antagonism they keep talking about.
i try to post my musical discoveries pretty frequently so if you stick around i'm sure you'll hear what i have to say. but yeah i recommend this album for sure.
I'll definitely stick around to check out threads like this, let me know about revelations if you pick it up. I'll have to take a look around the record store Friday to find some of these albums.
what are some of your favourite artists? maybe i can recommend something for you.
We'll I'm not going to lie, I've always been a joy division fan but never found very good punk bands. I think it had a lot to do with my friend who used to listen to Green Day and swear up and down its the epitome of punk rock. My tastes range pretty heavily, but I'm more in the mood to find new music genres, and most of the albums you listed in this thread were foreign to me, so I wanted to poke your brain and see what gems you have hidden away. I'm still trying to figure you're music style out, it seems like a good one
gotcha. okay, so i'm going to recommend a few albums you should check out that i like. over time it'll be easier to figure out what you like.
the mission - carved in sand (similar to night time) new order - low life (their best album, imo. new order is comprised of old joy division members minus ian.) pretty hate machine - nine inch nails (the album that got me hooked on nine inch nails) depeche mode - violator (solid album, good to introduce you to depeche mode) disintegration - the cure (awesome album) hatful of hollow - the smiths (another awesome album)
Pretty hate machine is A+, so is Downward Spiral if you haven't heard it, it's an amazing album. But I'm definitely going to check these out
lol i'm the second biggest nine inch nails fan on this website, tds is in my top 5 favourite albums of all time. if you like tds i can recommend stuff based on that.
Yes nine inch nails is amazing. I saw a Guns N Roses concert which was opened by Nine Inch Nails and I never thought I'd experience something as great as that in my life.
lucky fuck! i only got into them a few years ago and they haven't toured since. i'm pissed, cuz every live performace i've seen has been dope as hell
Wow I'm listening to the Smiths and its fantastic, I just played Please let me get what I want, it's godtier
morissey (lead singer) is brilliantly self reflective and honest when he writes. very unique way of telling a story.

yup, thanks
do you have a specific album in mind when you recommended stabbing westward? i didn't much enjoy wither blister burn and peel. i felt it lacked a certain weight at times.
They're basically nin light, if you didn't like the one album you probably won't like the others.
i'll give darkest days a listen but yeah, they didn't feel very authentic to me.

I'm jealous of the Joy Division album, it would give me the creeps to listen to though, imagining Ian Curtis's last songs.
it's in my top 5 favourite albums of all time. probably the saddest album i've ever listened to. the last 3 songs just...
it came with a free mp3 download if you want. i already own the cd so i have the songs on my computer.
That'd be awesome! It's definitely 10/10, but I feel you, it saddens me listening to it
the eternal is just perfect just shoot me a PM tomorrow (24 hours should be fine) cuz i'm not at home where the code is.
