They weren't pointless, they were hilarious. Plus they're not required.
It's impossible to get through Witcher 3 without experiencing a sex scene. The game literally opens with one.
lmao

they understand their demographic i suppose

i'm no fan of the witcher, but don't you think it's a little childish to throw everything else the game does out the window because of a sex scene? surely a movie you like is guilty of the same crime yet you overlook it there.

anyone know where you can find the blue dragon hanging out (naydra or somethin like that) ? i need his horns to upgrade my tunic now
climb mt. lanayru

i already tried that, nothing

i already did the spring of wisdom quest, if that matters

She spawns at midnight and dawn at the Lanayru Promenade. Very easy to get her mats.

She's also by Lanayru Bay but it's harder to hit her.

alright cool, i'll try it out next time

i was just chilling at mt lanayru, to no avail

I know the feeling. My last play session had me sitting around, waiting for her to spawn at the top of the mountain around 12:00 AM, getting impatient, starting a fire and waiting until night again, only to repeat.
Don't know if it needs to be spoilered, but... this is regarding other mystical beasts in the game.
It seems a lot less certain she'll appear there than, say, Dinraal or Farosh (Farosh being the easiest to find, Dinraal being the easiest to predict.) Even the guide shows her appearance patters are far less predictable than the other two dragons.

Dragons will not spawn when you sit at their spawn point. Move down the mountain before the right time. Every one of them shows up every night, to the point that I could routinely grab all three in one night.

Yes they will. Farosh will spawn without failr every night from the top of Hylian Bridge tower.

And to clarify, I wasn't waiting at the top of Mount Lanayru, I was waiting at the Lanayru Promenade East Gate, just before the Lynel.

vkgoeswild is pretty cool.
i was subbed to her when she only had around 10K subs

happy to see how much her channel has grown

yeah, she's really talented and her selection of covers is more unique than some other pianists I follow (Mark Fowler, DS Music, etc.) I found her when I started playing piano as a freshman, which I'm just realising was almost 6 years ago (holy shit...)

I guess I just also think that saving the earth is a useless endeavor, anyway.
That's fine. Just realize that it's a result of your own (anti-natalist?) philosophy and not an actual scientific imperative of "it's all too late anyways".

Fair enough.

If we're going by better made and not personal enjoyment:

MGS1/3
Silent Hill 2
Devil May Cry 3
Dark Souls 1

For personal enjoyment all of the above but throw MGR, Wind Waker and Pokemon Emerald into the mix because I do enjoy playing those more

I assumed Karjala was asking for a better game recently, which is why I said DS2/3.

Quote
I dunno where this notion of me sucking of Dark Souls' dick comes from, do I give off that impression? I certainly think DS1 is better than BOTW but DS2 is DEFINETELY not as good and DS3 is a bit of a stretch. I still think BOTW was a really, really good game but I don't love it

Yeah, I got that impression tbh

Trying to decide what gme I want to play next because it will undoubtedly not be as good as this one. Maybe Zero Dawn, or go back to DS3.

Dark Souls is always the right answer

but i actually like ds3 and i don't want to ruin it by following breath of the wild

I immediately went back to DS3 as soon as the end credits finished of BOTW

Enjoyed it more tbh

Again, I don't really have a problem with this or you liking DS more or anything like that, I'm just elaborating on what I was saying earlier.

I'll suck MGS' dick instead

MGS3 is untouchable

yeah mgs3 is near flawless

I think I mainly hate fanboys in general. Though the way Zelda 'fans' have been reacting to some of the negativity is hilariously retarded. Puts me off it a bit. I don't really care if the game is built around something, if it personally annoys me it's going to bring my opinion of the game right down. I don't think it would even be in my top 10 favorite games to be honest.

I don't really think (most) people have a problem with lowered scores and unfavourable opinions, but rather, how they are portrayed. Turkey has brought up several good points about the game's flaws, but it's never got on my nerves. Whereas you just say "it personally annoys me" without any sort of legitimate explanation (not saying that what you're saying annoys me, it's just a for-instance.)

People are okay with a game they like being less-liked by someone else as long as that lowered opinion is earned, I guess.

Breakable weapons personally annoy me because I hate having to stop and change weapons mid combat because my weapon has broken and I need to change. It takes me out of it and causes me to lose enjoyment.

Better?

No, but I lack the ability to show you why. I think it's because your complaint isn't very justified within the context of its use in the game, but I can't be sure.

I think the brilliance of BoTW's storytelling is that the game could function without the main narrative. It's the smaller side quests and characters that breath life into the game, and you could very easily just be Link trying to get your memories back or whatever.

I don't have a problem with their DLC model or paying through the nose for a game (quite honestly the consumers have gotten away with murder up until now), I have a problem with the fact that their game is still garbage after all the content has been released and the updates are out.

There's literally no policy on Earth that's going to halt, or even postpone climate change at this point. China and India are shitting out coal emissions like there's no tomorrow. Even if by some international, logistical miracle we all managed to stop emitting CO2, too late, we fucked it anyway.

Maybe it's just the cynic in me talking, but I wouldn't get worked up over a policy that was a fruitless endeavour anyway.

Pretty much.
I disagree. Haven't we had this exact conversation before? Just because we have caused some form of climate change and are bound to reach a certain higher temperature doesn't mean that we can't stop it from getting worse or mitigate the effects. Saying otherwise goes against what is to my knowledge the vast scientific consensus and ignores the fact that there's still thousands of researchers and experts out there looking for solutions and presenting beneficial policies.

NASA, for example, agrees. It first concedes that "Humans have caused major climate changes to happen already, and we have set in motion more changes still. Even if we stopped emitting greenhouse gases today, global warming would continue to happen for at least several more decades if not centuries." But then goes on to add that "But it may not be too late to avoid or limit some of the worst effects of climate change. Responding to climate change will involve a two-tier approach: 1) “mitigation” – reducing the flow of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere; and 2) “adaptation” – learning to live with, and adapt to, the climate change that has already been set in motion. "

And it's not just them. The UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Chief also said that it is not too late to avoid even more dangerous rises in temperature. Same goes for other scientists and research papers, who still maintain that "the only way out is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions as soon as possible", or the Yale Climate Connections project saying that such pessimism is a dangerous myth. Even the most renowned US climate change scientist who was one of the first to say that it's too late to still avoid some degree of global warming still says that prompt steps must be taken, including the implementation of a carbon-emission tax on fracking companies and legal actions against governments, to press them to cut down emissions. "The science is crystal clear, we have to phase out emissions over the next few decades. That won’t happen without substantial actions by Congress and the executive branch..."

When you forgot about the bath you have filling up and open the door to a half flooded bathroom, you don't go "well, guess that's it, so I might as well turn the faucet open all the way because I've already got water everywhere". Trump's actions are dumb and anti-scientific as shit. Yes, global warming will happen and it's going to change the way we live and interact with our world in the (near) future. But just how bad it's going to get and how we deal with it is still something we can change. This isn't a bomb with a timer set to get off in 2 seconds that we can't do anything about. It's a spreading wildfire that is sure to take place but can still be contained and limited to a significant extent.

I guess I just also think that saving the earth is a useless endeavor, anyway.

So is this game worth the price of an entirely new console? I have no intentions of playing any other games on the Switch but this game piques my interest.

if you don't want the switch the wii-u will have this and a ton of other games that you may have wanted to try before

also, this might seem like a dumb question but is the "royal" and "royal guard" weapon series different?

i have almost all the royal weapons and i'm too scared to use them cuz i know there's a side quest that wants the royal guard series.

also also, how do you get a dragon's horn? i wanted to upgrade my champion tunic (it looks cool) but i can't cuz i need a farosh's horn. i'm assuming you hit it in the head?

the royal guard series is different from the royal series. the royal guard series is black whereas the royal series is gold.

you will have an abundance of royal weapons by the end of the game so don't sweat using them.

and yes, you have to shoot farosh's horn to get a piece of it (scale is body, fang is mouth, claw is hand)

Are there any games you guys can recommend that would scratch that same itch this game does? I'm thinking Wind Waker would be a good idea to go back and play but I'm waiting for TBlocks to get out of school so we can binge-play (and potentially stream) the two of us playing it. Twilight Princess, maybe? I don't know, I don't think I've really played a game like this before.

Tell me you have some of these Amiibos that offer cool costumes and you want to come over and share them with me.
Yesir. Link, Shiek, and Zelda.
What do those Amiibos offer, again? There's, like, 20 Link statues, lol.
Spoiler
Smash Bros series versions of Link, Zelda, Sheik
http://imgur.com/a/QWNvr

So you have Cap/Tunic/Trousers of Twilight, Sheik's Mask, and the Twilight Bow?
You can only do it once per day and it's not a guarantee you get one of those each time so it takes some save loading. So far I have the Twilight Bow, Epona, and the Trousers of Twilight. Some of the other items you get are just good weapons or shields so I've settled for less before.

I just want the Tunic of Twilight tbh, everything else I could live without. I have 2 solid horses, and the classic green cap and hylian trousers so I can recreate the look of classic look decently well with the TP shirt. Sheik's mask would be cool though.
Yeah, the Twilight clothes are the real haul that I'd like.

Wouldn't say no to the Ocarina of Time clothes are the Fierce Diety stuff either.

Overall this amiibo stuff is such bullshit. Some of them are 100 bucks on Amazon.
Yeaaah pretty much. I was eyeing the Ocarina amiibo but it's a lot of money... lots of money.

I'm hoping theres a DLC pack in the future or something... as much as I'd hate that, I really want some of these cool outfits.
I could see that happening tbh. Something tells me Nintendo isn't quite done with BotW. (Yes I know about the DLC already discussed) Especially after how well it did.

Would be very surprised to not see another Zelda game released within 3 years in the style of BoTW. It's the Zelda game a lot of people were waiting for -- no gimmicky controls, just straight-up, old-fashioned action-adventure gameplay. Nintendo is done with gimmicks, and I think the Switch embodies that perfectly. If they can just get half-decent third-party support it's going to explode in popularity.
