making super an anime series was a mistake
they should have kept the movie format and expanded the story in the same way they are for the manga. it would space out the story nicely as well.
A movie for each saga?
I'd be so down for that. I can't deny that I'm enjoying the Super anime though. I see its issues but it doesn't really bother me. It's just more Dragon Ball for me to just chill back and watch.
that's what it was supposed to be. that's why bog and rof were movies first. the goku black saga could be its own thing, too
you're incapable of critically looking at a lot of things that would compromise your interests
Oh I can look at things critically. Dragon Ball does have a lot of problems but it doesn't really stop me enjoying it. I guess I can look past stuff like that.
you're not looking at it hard enough, then
i mean, i don't understand how goku's shitty fucking character direction in the anime wouldn't bother you, simply because it has the dragon ball trademark -- even though it betrays what originally sparked your interest
i feel like flaws and fuck ups should bother you
The fact that he is borderline retarded at times does bother me.
The point is, it should, because it's a) not how Goku was intended to be written, and b) it makes him and the experience worse. If I get too caught up in dissecting it while it's still ongoing, yes it might compromise my enjoyment of it and I don't want that to happen. See, the problem with that mindset is that it's complacent. You need to, y'know, not be happy with what's being given if you're unhappy with it, not convince yourself you're okay for the sake of maintaining your blissful innocence. Imagine how much happier you'd be if the anime was good; if the anime was the unaltered animated version of the manga. Come to think about it, didn't the same thing happen with MGSV? I see what you're trying to get at, but I just don't think it's comparable. MGSV is only similar to Super in the sense that it deviates from what the source material is/has been/should be. But where MGSV differs is that, while it branches off from what was traditionally a staple of the source material, it manages to be good on its own, or in its own way. Super is a bad anime no matter how you swing it, and the only thing keeping it going is nostalgia. But that doesn't have to be the case, because clearly, from what we see in the manga and the two movies, Toriyama can still make cool storylines that don't feel cheap and easy.

If you have some time, I'd love to hear what you guys think about this documentary. It's about an hour and a half. I'll summarise if you don't have time, but I recommend watching it just for the interviews and apologies. It's about a man named Joshua Blahyi, a born-again Christian minister in Africa responsible for the death, maiming or rape of over 20,000 people during the Liberian civil war. During this time, he was known as "General Butt Naked", a notoriously vicious man known for running into battle completely naked with only a cutlass and a rifle to cover himself. He would run into villages, rape the women, bang babies heads against rocks, and maim the grown men by cutting both their hands off. Near the end of the war, he went into exile, coming out 10 years later as a reformed, born-again Christian preacher. The documentary follows him from village to village speaking with some of his victims from the war, and asking them for forgiveness. Some of the stories are harrowing. About halfway through the documentary, he voluntarily puts himself at the mercy of the TRC, a commity designed to try war criminals from the Liberian Civil war, with Blahyi being close to the top of the list. He admits to everything and claims that he came forth of his own volition to demonstrate his guilty mind and desire for forgiveness. He also talks about his peaceful crusade to apologise to all his victims. As a result, the TRC recommends amnesty for him, a pill many of his victims find hard to swallow. He starts to receive death threats in the mail, and fearing for his own life, stays at a refugee camp outside of Ghana for his safety, leaving his family and disillusioned followers behind to a life of poverty, drug abuse and sickness. But the kicker here is the way he speaks to people. Maybe it's a cultural thing, I don't know, but I get the feeling that these people are just incapable of emotional honesty in their tone and body language. Blahyi only expresses remorse or empathy for his victims in his words; he imposes his apology on people, blocking their path if they try to walk away from him. At one point, he confronts a kid who saw his whole family killed at the hands of Blahyi's men, who begins to ball his eyes out at the sight of Joshua. After hearing his apology, the kid grants Blahyi forgiveness. Butt Naked in response, offers him an emotionless, one-handed hug so he doesn't have to drop his hat on the floor. What do you guys think.

Anyone else following the manga? I think the U6 arc is better in it aside from SSG returning over Kaioken, and I think the Black arc is worse, like seriously
Spoiler Goku and Black never fight in it https://www.viz.com/shonenjump/chapters/dragon-ball-super
ssg is the dopest transformation though
Don't get me wrong, I love SSG, but I think bringing the Kaioken back was cooler, though taking it to x10 was retarded
why cant we have both

most people want to be subjugated, not just women. it's just that, for women, it's more acceptable to be subjugated, and for men, they're looked down upon if they don't subjugate women and weaker men. it's all instinctual, tribalist, survivalist bullshit we should strive to eradicate.
jive only sees half the picture because he doesn't try to pick up guys the same way he does girls.

You say that like it's some kind of excuse. Fans of anything who accept mediocrity in any form are morons.

I don't know, I just feel that 17/18 getting stronger through training feels extra cheap and undeserved in comparison to Freeza and Boo.
They were never heralded as prodigies or destructive forces prior to their cybernetics, and they have no special skills or attributes not exclusive to their characters' original form. They were regular people given power, and that's all it's ever been. And also, I do remember the original implication was that the absorption model was only inferior in initial power, and that its advantage over the other model (17/18's) was that it could increase it's strength when they couldn't. Where the hell was 17 when Super Boo attacked and killed all life on Earth? It's just lazy writing.
