Why would Nintendo release this when the Switch will absorb the DS's market?
I doubt it will. They're still making a lot of games for the DS that aren't and won't be on the Switch. And people like me still may buy one soon that never had one. There's a huge library of games.
What won't be on the Switch? It's another portable console, and they'll soon phase out the DS because of it. It makes no sense to push two portables.
The Switch is a console, not a handheld. They're going to continue pushing this. The DS has games and will continue to have games that aren't anywhere else, even on the Switch.
I sincerely doubt it. We're already seeing DS games pop up on the Switch. Pokémon Stars, for one. It just doesn't make sense from a financial standpoint. It's like GM pushing Chevrolet and Pontiac at the same time in the early 2000's: there just isn't enough of a market to go around.

Metal Gear Rising is a good game
Could be either one of us.
But the question is, which one?
I'm Big Boss, and you are too. No... he's the two of us, together.

Do the translations from japanese to english take less time for the manga? I didn't realise how far the english chapters were into the story. It's leagues better than the anime.
Also, did they fix the animation in the english dub or something? The reports of its laughable animation were greatly exaggerated.
they might be using the bd version for the english version, still doesn't look great though
also i believe the manga is being fan translated so they can usually throw the new chapter up within a couple days of it being released in japan.
"BD"?
The english manga is available on the Shonen Jump website, though...
blueray discs
they're probably doing a simultaneous release then. the manga isn't locked into a TV deal in the west so it can just release whenever they want it to instead of having to fill a time slot once a week.
Yeah, that's what I thought it meant but I wasn't sure. And that's yet another reason the manga is better, I guess.

No, it wasn't a result of the technology at the time. You yourself said they pushed "realism" in TP which utilised the same hardware.
The visual style and graphical simplicity of WW was an artistic choice made by the development team to a) allow the team to make Link more emotive, and b) allow their story to stand the test of time. Wind Waker has aged like a fine wine because of that choice. Far better than any other Zelda game has or will.
Of course, they sort of botched that message with WWHD, which compromised some of the original artistic merit that style had in favour of "graphical fidelity" or whatever other technical buzzwords nerds use now. But that's neither here nor there.
That's not what I'm saying. I'm not saying artstyle = technology they're limited by. I was ask, didn't they use the hardware to the best they could at the time they made WW, but obviously went with an artistic visual effect with it. The technology being the things allowed with the engine and handling of it, such as stable frames, pixels, etc.
I guess to make it sound simplier. I'm saying didn't they make WW look the way it did because they wanted to express it differently, not because they were limited. And while also expressing it differently, they still utilized the power of what the gamecube offered.
It's sort of hard to explain.
Yeah, sorry, you're going to have to explain yourself better. I don't really understand your argument here.
I think she's just trying to argue that Wind Waker, despite having a distinct style that doesn't seem very graphically demanding, still utilizes much of the GameCube's processing power in other aspects, such as animation or what have you. Less realistic graphics does not necessarily mean less demanding when the game is taken as a whole.
This whole point was brought up because I suggested that I could make a game with shitty/dated graphics just to prove the point that not all developers are interested in state-of-the-art technology.
Wind Waker is kind of a fuzzy example because the game is likely demanding in other ways beyond just the visuals. That's what I gathered from Luci's post.
Yeah, that's it. Thank you, it was hard to write into words.
I don't recall Wind Waker being that demanding. No more than any of the other Zeldas. Twilight Princess pushed it further a few years later, even. But I'll admit it's a little out of my wheelhouse to talk about the technicalities. I guess another video game-themed example I could use was in Rocksteady's Arkham Knight reveal presentation a few years ago at E3. The game's major theme is fear, and what is more scary for a developer at an expo than your game crashing in front of millions of people, live? So they intentionally made the demo drop frames, screen tear, and eventually crash. It performed graphically worse, but was artistically superior because it played to the developer's theme and vision.

Though if there's one thing that WWHD did right, it was the ability to take selfies with the pictograph.
I recall a few things WWHD did better than the original but I don't remember them off the top of my head. I've never actually played the HD version, only seen a few analyses, but TBlocks and I are going to play through it together sometime soon. We're considering the idea of streaming it, but we'll have to see.

I would make a game with shitty graphics just to prove the point.
Then please do it already and prove us all wrong. Otherwise your argument has no footing aside from the one you're crafting.
Ragjng Bull, Wind Waker? Le Cassette's "Left To Our Own Devices"? These already exist to provide his footing.
Seriously did you all suffer an identical blow to the head? You have an amateur's understanding of the artistic process. Read a book or watch an interview with some of these people, for God's sake.
I can't speak for the movie bits, but didn't Wind Waker go off the technology of it's time but just go for a more creative art style? It wasn't going off the 8-bit example like Verb was using, correct? I think you're seeing the same thing with Breath of the Wild. Ever since WW they've more or less stopped trying to go for the realistic look, aside from Twilight Princess I suppose.

I was about 5 years old, if I remember correctly. It's the middle of that day and my mother and I are at a resort of some kind. Not an especially exotic place, but somewhere sunny and warm. Think Florida or L.A.
There are in-ground pools as far as the eye can see, packed to the brim with people -- like that one scene in the original Sandlot, turned up to 11. My mother and I are walking along the edges of the pool, trying to find a place to join in. We finally find suitable pools and she leaves me in the kiddy area while she goes to swim in the adjacent adult section. I see her jump in, but nothing after that.
When I turn around to start swimming, I'm met with a 6-foot tall yellow creature, glazed in bright feathers and big, innocent eyes. But I know better from experience; this creature is not innocent at all. It's Big Bird, standing just outside the edge of my pool beside a weighted metal lever.
The situation hits me with a flustered confusion and hopelessness: this is no kiddy pool, it's a giant toilet! Bird pulls the lever towards him, initiating the flush sequence. The other children and I begin to spin and scream, but the sound of Big Bird's horrowing laughter all but cancels them out. I'm filled with despair as I clamber and flail to no avail, submerging beneath the heavily chlorinated water. My final sight: a gargled image of Big Bird's head cocked back in a victorious guffaw followed by a crushing fade to black.
I jolt awake to the sound of the blood racing through the veins in my head. I wipe my eyes of gunk, turn to the chalk board beside my bed, and scribble another tally to the scoreboard.
"You win again, Big Bird."
