Looks incredible. And do I dare say, Raimi-esque.

Rise up.

Homecoming is the best Spider-Man movie

Sam Raimi's Spider-man 3 outclasses every single superhero film ever created (besides Spider-man 1/2) by understanding the classical, operatic spirit of Spider-man's legacy. It confronts the cheesey tropes of the medium unapologetically, and in doing so feels exceptionally earnest in its desire to portray the essence of the character in an attractive light. It will last far longer than anything that's come out since.
Agreed if we also admit that Spiderman 3 was bad (entirely because of executive meddling).

I don't think it's as good as 1 or 2, but it's definitely not as bad as people make it out to be. Remove Venom from the story and most of my issues are fixed. The dance scene was perfect. Keep Eddie Brock around though, he's a great character and Topher Grace was really good.

All the movies are "bad" in the sense that comics in general are "bad."
It definitely ruined the third act of the movie. It was too crowded so it didn't give Venom the room he needed to thrive, and the director himself didn't care too much for him which has an impact on the interpretation (also his design didn't need the webbing). Raimi himself thinks that the focus on "raising the stakes" versus continuing the progression from the previous movies doomed it.

I still enjoy the movie, and I agree that keeping Eddie Brock in the movie would have been a good idea. Plant the seed for Venom, but don't force the issue. Everything good quality Spiderman 3 has was present in the other two Raimi movies. That's not to say that it's worse for it, but it failed to improve on the formula set by its predecessors. I think if Raimi hadn't been forced by the studio to make inclusions despite him not believing in them, it would have been a great movie. As it stands it's bad, but still better than anything DC or Marvel have put out since (although Homecoming does have a place in my heart).

I agree with everything (except that Homecoming bit, that film was absolute trash save Alison Reynolds's MJ's character) you've said here, I just disagree that it makes the film "bad."

The current one, I think. The 09 one is the best, though.
How are you gonna have nostalgia for something that's out now

because it was the first one that was active when i got my xbox

I was going to say that you freakin' pirates ruined it for everyone by stealing it in the first place, but $600 for a fucking program is absolutely absurd. I'll probably end up just getting the subscription model, but jesus I don't really want to.
Not piracy, just a deliberate business move. Adobe has been trying to go down the closed-system Apple path for a while now. They wanted to create dependency within their products. Adobe files can only be opened with Adobe software. You want to edit or create images? Photoshop is your bet. Ah, but what about enhancing pictures taken by a camera? Yeah, Lightroom is what you need. Interested in both? Well you gotta get the package deal now because you can't just use another piece of software for one of the two. How about adding some graphics or assets to it? Yeah, you'll need Illustrator or Stock for that - can't go with anything else because it doesn't work. Hm, you want to publish the result somewhere? Yeah no, all the other software sucks for that, you'll need Indesign to make that work. And managing all of your files together? Bro no way you can do that without Adobe Bridge (which used to be part of the CS programs you got but now conveniently isn't any longer). The whole Adobe scene used to be a lot more standalone and integratable with other software but they've really been pushing towards a closed-system like Apple where you more or less get sucked into a software ecosystem that you can't just get out off. Before you know it, all of your creative programs depend on each other and none of your work can be exported to other software. And that's why and how they're now using a subscription-based model that tries charging you for a package. It's not so much aimed at people like you but rather businesses and professionals who got away with a one time purchase of one piece of (shared) software.

its shit like this that really doesnt help my growing anticapitalist sensibilities

i dont suppose i could just keep making emails for the free trial

well to begin with i dont think a one time purchase of it was really profitable for software companies to do. ms office/photoshoop and a bunch of others now do it because it keeps a steady income. i really do miss one time fees tho, at least students get free access to it or discounts.

30 bucks is pretty egregious though

Also do you ever get the issue where you try to draw with your stylus on your tablet and the cursor will be on another monitor? I have checked my settings and it should be mapped to my tablet but any time i start drawing it switches over to another monitor... I end up having to turn off my other monitors just to get it to work properly.

That's weird. Neither Krita or FireApaca have those issues for me. You think there may be an issue with your tablet driver? I've had issues before in Photoshop with both my Wacom and Ugee tablets similar to that and I had to uninstall and reinstall the latest driver to fix it.

I've reinstalled it already and it didn't fix anything. The problem with Krita is that there's just a giant lag on my brush cursor for whatever reason. I liked it more than FireAlpaca, but that program at least didn't muddy my work.

If you think you're gonna be using photoshop a lot more in the future then the sooner you become familiar with the program the better you will be down the road. It's up to you whether or not the monthly subscription is worth it. It's sad you can't just purchase CS6 or other older versions to keep. I only have it form my torrenting days years ago.

You have to rent it? What the hell

Is there no way to avoid that
You can get a cracked CC version if you look for it. TBH if it was a one-time purchase I'd probably just go ahead and purchase it, but they want you to pay $30 / month!

That's such bullshit. How much did it used to cost as a one time fee?

I keep having problems with all these free alternatives. Krita worked for awhile but the brush tool doesn't recognise where my stylus is until I put pressure on the screen, which results in these (admitedly cool but unintentional) straight lines you see here:

I then tried out FireAlpaca, but for whatever reason, it keeps giving me these random dots when I'm using the brush tool. Like so:

I managed to turn down the frequency of these dots in the settings, but obviously the ideal number of occurences is zero.

I'm wondering if I should just pull the trigger and get Photoshop. I might as well get acquainted with the program considering I'll probably be using it in the future.

Spider-man has gotta be one of the best superheroes to study... his poses are always so dynamic no matter who's drawing. That also means it's more obvious when an artist doesn't have a full grasp on human anatomy, but I'd rather them take risks than stick to the Jim Lee school of basic ass poses.

I legit forgot I made this thread lol

Sounds like you're keeping yourself distracted.
it’s not even that

I just sit on my phone browsing whatever app all day and do nothing. I lost my old job from a 1 month license suspension for speeding and my other job is only during the middle 6 months of the year so I have nothing to do but job hunt, and I don’t even do that. I need to be more creative tbh

Everything happens for a reason.

I legit quit mine because it was beginning to degrade my mental health. It was a shitty place to work to start with.

after the donald did all the work to get you that job in the first place

fucking scumbag
