I was just gonna get the three super box sets. While they take up a lot of space I like the individual cover art on them.

I'm collecting the 3-in-1 volumes for the sake of storage space. They're releasing Volume 20 in October, which includes manga volumes 58, 59, 60. There are 72 volumes in total, and Volume 19 was released in July. So again, if we highball about 15 weeks in between each release, since there's only 4 volumes left to complete the manga, we have about 13 months to go before they finish releasing the 3-in-1 manga collection. I'm okay with waiting.

I ain't about to drop $300+ on a manga I've already experienced in one go.

But you do you.

I think I'll stick to trying to recollect the manga volumes.

Just to be clear, I might quit out after a few episodes, so don't make your own filler list just for me. :p

I'm not doing it for you, but for anyone who might be interested in it.

At least watch until episode 17. That's where I got hooked. It starts slow but it really picks up in that arc.

I have no Crunchyroll or Netflix. Anyplace else I can just stream it?

Do you prefer dub or sub?

Did a little research today, if you're interested.

Turns out the dub for Shippuden wasn't dropped. It takes 10+ weeks to translate, alter, record, and release the individual box sets. The most recent one, Naruto Shippuden: DVD Box Set 31, was release on June 27. 2017, and the next one comes out on October 10, 2017. It captures up to episode 416. There's a 15 week distance between 31 and 32, but there was only a 12 week distance between 30 and 31.

So if we highball it and say it takes 15 weeks to release a new box set, and every box set contains 13 new episodes, with the remaining 84 episodes still needing to be released, it should take approximately 735 days to finish making the Shippuden dub. That's 1 year and and 8 months. We're looking at June 10th, 2019 as a finish date.

Math
6.4 (working highball, 7) box sets left to complete Shippuden (84 episodes left / 13 episodes per box set)
Box sets released every 15 weeks (105 days, ~3 months)
15 weeks x 7 box sets = 105 weeks (735 days, 20.7 months, 1.7 years)

I watched the last fight between naruto and sausage and legit thought it could be a parody. Those two were literally flying around shooting laser beams out of a giant samurai and fox thing. Remember when the show was mostly about ninjas with knives and martial arts and a bit of goofy magic?

Yeah. I was watching it with my buddy and I paused the episode to explain that I missed the days of grounded somewhat realistic ninjutsu.

It's a lot more jarring if you don't watch all the follow up, because the show admittedly does ease us into it well.

Yeah, I'm sure it's the culmination of hundreds of episodes of development. I did like that after all that they basically recreated their original fight in that valley without all the magic stuff.

The show has these moments of """brilliance""" but it's underneath many layers of anime/Japanese stupidity. Coming from DBZ, where characters have absolutely no depth and the filler is built into the canon so it's unskippable, I feel like this is just a more refined and intelligent approach to that template. I'm actually a little embarassed to have put off Naruto for so long in favour of DBZ.

Sure.

This is for Naruto. Before scrolling down, make sure you click "Hide Episode Titles" option to avoid spoilers. The original Naruto show is something awesome to me because the first 100 episode contain a total of 3 filler episodes, which is crazy. It's pretty much non-stop plot for the most part, and the animation is super high-quality.

I'm devising my own list for Shippuden because the one I used has some flaws, IMO. Some filler deserves to be watched, so I'll let you know when I get that finished.

Do you have Crunchyroll or Netflix? Netflix should have Naruto dub, which is far better, IMO.

cool

i never told you this, but my ACTUAL favorite episode of naruto is the one where
Spoiler
naruto meets his mother

it hits me in a special place when he finally realizes it's her

AKA episode 246 if you haven't seen it, idk if it would be considered filler or not

Yeah, I saw it. It's not considered filler. I think they consider filler as anything that wasn't explicitly in the manga, but I've noted a few faults that overall hamper the experience.

It was a cool episode but the translation kind of ruins it. "Ya know" is supposed to be a bit more of a weird comment in Japanese I guess but in the dub it's used all the time. Minato is cool as hell, too.

haven't seen anything of boruto, mostly because i thought the post-story for shippudden was the most insulting fanfiction-y thing i've ever seen (next to harry potter and the cursed child), but it's technically on the list

The whole wedding arc thing? I didn't think it was too bad. I have a problem with the ending in general but it doesn't seem to me that Boruto suffers from those faults. It reminds me a lot of the good parts in the original Naruto.

I don't think I've seen a single episode of this show.

It's honestly a fun ride. The original series starts off a bit slow but post-episode 17 or so, it really picks up until 100~.

I stuck with it even after that because it's pretty good still. It's more anime-y than DBZ, but also a lot better, IMO.
Everybody knows Dragonball is the best anime ever made, but I'll let that slide.

Has Verb watched this yet?

Yeah. He secretly likes it. He said it's the best of the "Big 4" animes (One Piece, Dragon Ball, Naruto, Bleach(?)".
I've seen parts of One Piece and Bleach and thought they were awful. Dragonball is alright, so maybe I'll give this show a go as well. What do I start with?

Naruto. The original show. I can send you the filler lists I used to avoid unnecessary shit if you want.

Boy you took it seriously with Naruto fighting a sausage, but the fighting was what put you off? πŸ€”

OT: Wew, I'm sorry that I almost spoiled Obito

Yeah I was going to give you shit for that, lmao.

But honestly I figured it out when I saw Kakashi's kunai damage his mask because of the Kamui.

Overall I think Shippuden really falls flat in its ending. Everything from 1 to 400 really feels fine in terms of pacing if you skip the filler, and there aren't many flashbacks in the canon episodes I watched. But just after the dub ends*, and the sub picks up (403) they start mixing the flashbacks into the episodes. I swear, I've seen the Kakashi/Obito split face images 3000 times.

On top of that, the Kaguya storyline didn't really do much for me. Neither did the Sasuke Vs. Naruto fight at the end. When Sasuke declared he wanted to become Hokage, I got amped, because I thought maybe his character had finally grown a bit. But it turned out he was just changing the definition of Hokage and basically continuing what he was always trying to do. I now know why he is the worst character in anything, ever.

I skipped the Sunrise and Shikamaru storylines originally but I'm going through them now. I also plan on watching some of the "important" filler, like the Jiraiyah story and Itachi story. Just seems interesting to me.

Since I also subscribed to Crunchyroll I got access to Boruto, which I got caught up with. Epsideo 23 just aired, and it finishes the manga story arc dealing with Sarada's parentage. Pretty well done, I enjoyed it. I know the manga retells the story of the Boruto movie, at their chunin exams, but I'm fine with the anime taking its time catching up. It's pretty good for the most part. Boruto himself isn't quite as autistic as Naruto was (but I still find both to be enjoyable characters). That opening scene really sets the stage for where the series is going. There've only been 3 filler episodes so far, too.

Things left for me to finish watching:

The Last: Naruto Movie
Itachi's Story
Sasuke's Story
Shikamaru's Story
Jiraiyah's Story

But overall, it's been a wild ride and I'm glad to say I'm finally finished. Probably my new favourite anime, despite only watching 2 in my whole life. I think next will be Full Metal Alchemist or Bleach.

*turns out, the dub wasn't "dropped", it's just taking forever to be released. 402 is the last dubbed episode, but 403-417 is coming out in December IIRC.

Great games on that list. But I can't say I agree with the list.

Yeah, it doesn't even include the greatest game of the generation, The Witcher 3. With an expansive world, dripping with atmosphere, a game hasn't told as exquisite a story as this before. Never before have I seen such attention to detail in every aspect. CD Projekt Red really needs to be commended for every artistic decision within this godsend of a game. The DLC alone should be on this list, and in the top 10 if you ask me. I've bought the game 3 times on the PS4 just to show my support for this developer, who deserves nothing but absolute praise for this fantastic instalment in The Witcher series. Historians will look back at this game as the first true reappearance of God in the modern age.

I feel like you've been holding that one in for a while

lol what do you mean

I mean we all know Gator loves TW3, and that response had so much effort and detail put into it that I suspiciously believe that you've had that typed up for a while and have just been looking for an excuse to finally post it

No I just typed it now lmao

if it was premeditated I would have put a lot more effort and refinement into it

BOTW is a top ten game, IMO.

Problems:

MGS3 is still the best MG.
Dark Souls is a solid choice, but Bloodborne doesn't deserve to be here.
GTAIV is better than GTAV, and it's not the best GTA, either.
Destiny is on this list at number 36.
Arkham Knight < Arkham Origins <<<< Arkham City < Arkham Asylum.
Tetris isn't on this list.
