hip hop is extremely in touch with youth pop culture. so there's bound to be some more overlap between anime and hip hop than you'll ever see in like, country or alt rock music or boy bands or w/e.

i dont think thats it. if you could explain how rap is in touch with youth pop culture or how anime constitutes youth pop culture in the first place, thatd be swell.

additionally, dbz is a far cry from the anime i'm seeing on youtube

and i just think its pretty cringy that these artists who talk about cooking dope with an uzi are being played over some japanese dude dropping an eraser while sketching at a bus stop in the rain while some qt picks it up for him lmao
The fuck are you even watching and why are you looking for this?

i was listening to dbz/naruto remix playlists while drawing and when i went to scan my work it was on the other monitor lmao

Why do black people enjoy DBZ so much?

they don't

Yes they do.

not in particular.

You forget that I'm the black guy here.

i guess that makes you an expert on blackness or something?? lol

i get that it seems like a disproportionate amount of black people like dbz, i just think it's misleading and/or indicative of other things. i don't think they particularly like dbz more than other racial demographics. like i said, theyre just a little more vocal about it.

besides, DBZ is a far cry from most other anime, so again i don't see why the two are explicitly linked like they are

idk

http://thedaoofdragonball.com/blog/philosophy/rza-dbz-black-men/

what i'm getting at is that i don't think black people enjoy dbz more than any other demographic

there are a lot of dbz fans in the world, i'm not sure why we focus on the black population that likes it

where the idea came from, idk. maybe the black population is just more vocal about their enjoyment. maybe it's because lower class families spend more time watching tv because there's not much else to do. idk.

1: Naruto and Gamakichi

2: Team 7

3: Team 7 Genin

4: Search for Tsunade Arc

I'm leaning towards #1. What do you guys think?

*R*O*C*K*S* is still my favourite Naruto Opening.

YouTube

Weirdly enough I like the first openings for both Naruto and Shippuden the most from their respective series.
How many episodes do I have to watch again before it gets good?

20. Then I let you go.
Well I'm at 10 or so. Watched a bunch while traveling.

I'd still recommend going past that point (everyone I talk to says they were hooked at around 50) but if it feels like a slug after 20 or so just slow your pace down.

What do you think so far?
It's alright, but I'm not sure I can stick with it. Plenty of things that I'm not too fond of. I'm liking the general story line so far, but that's most of what I can say. Some of the fighting is pretty decent too, but that's about it. Stuff I don't like:

- it's still playing out like a preteen middle school drama of a love/hate relationship between a girl and two boys.

- so much edge. Some of the people in Dragonball (like Vegeta) do this too from time to time, but this is next level shit. Every other person seems to want to be the cool "nothing personnel kid" type of guy very often.

- overplayed elements. Yeah, we get it. You can transform into a rock or a piece of wood and people will attack the wrong thing. We've seen it a dozen times in 9 episodes, so get on with it already.

- teleports behind him. nothing personnel kid. Woah ok it was a log. teleports behind him. woah ok it was water. teleports behind him. woah ok it was another fake?! That was some shite right there.

- the constant explanations and repeats. We literally saw this 3 minutes ago. I don't need two more repeats of the same footage with a gray filter over it while Naruto spends (no joke) a quarter of an episode explaining pretty obvious stuff in the face of this supposedly badass assassin guy doing nothing. Come on now. Half of this could've been scrapped.

There was definitely more stuff that made me roll my eyes or want to skip ahead, but that's what I can remember off the top of my head. Overall, it's not such a bad show and the storyline is pretty decent. The whole thing with Naruto having the fox spirit in him and being an outcast, the ninja ranks and different countries, the escort mission and ninja hunting them (with the one pretending to kill him - decent twist although kind of predictable he wouldn't be dead)... All pretty good. But I'm not feeling that engaged or interested in knowing what happens next, and that's pretty important. Dragonball has its fair share of dumb shit as well, but I keep watching because the other stuff makes up for it and because I want to see what happens next in the big universe tournament. And as it stands now, I kind of doubt Naruto will be the same.

What episode are you at now?

And I think Naruto definitely has the same thing Dragon Ball has of looking forward to the next big event, but unless you had prior knowledge of what the event is, you won't be willing to go through a lot of it. I think Dragon Ball is a worse offender of this because at least original Naruto has no filler inbetween its main arcs. Hopefully you decide to stick with it until 50-60 at least which is where almost everyone agrees it gets hyped. 20 or so is just where I saw the value of the show and decided to stick with the less interesting bits.

but nah, a whole bunch—the mongolian death worm is fun, as well as the windigo

i like the flatwoods monster in particular, if only because it's been adapted several times in video games—including the legend of zelda, of all things

otherwise, it's a fairly simple alien sighting

What a coincidence, I'm actually watching my first video on the Flatwoods Monster as I read this.

Windigo is dope, though.

So is it worth buying?

Never bothered to play the first and I'm getting bored of For Honor and Gwent.

No

I played 4 or 5 hours the first night and haven't felt compelled to return since

I have some of the most time on Destiny 1 out of anyone on this forum so use that to guage my objectivity.

T4R

Loch Ness Monster, Big Foot, Chupacabra, etc.

I would really like to believe in some of the cooler ones (Mothman, Michigan Dogman, aliens) but I don't think I do.

I feel like Dragon Ball is barely anime. I've never felt comfortable calling it that.
it has Chinese niggas running around doing kung fu and using magic

Lots of american cartoons have those elements.

A lot of American cartoons are heavily influenced by anime these days as most of their creators enjoy it.

Yeah but that doesn't have much to do with my point.
