What is wrong with The Librarian?
Introduced in a cliche way in Halo 4. Her only purpose was to dump information on what's happening in a cutscene.

What exactly was "cliche" about it

I mean she could have been executed better definitely but I don't think cliché is the word you're looking for.

What traits do you see of yourself within Gaara and Shikamaru?

You get to bring one A-rank or lower jutsu into the real world to master for yourself -- which do you choose and why?

Are you going to get Shinobi Striker and play with me?

The Flood / What should I draw for my mum? It's her birthday.
« on: September 19, 2017, 09:03:15 PM »
She's been pretty adamant about me making her something for her birthday because her boss has a bunch of drawings from her kids and she's jealous.

Thing is, I don't really know what to draw for her.

Any suggestions?

I'll try and place my avatar link from imgur into the profile pic section, and it will revert to the "use no avatar" option (unless I try uploading a pic and then using the link, it'll revert back to the upload option).

What gives?

Probably a glitch. The character pack is 30 bucks, but the individual skins are 60? I'm sure they meant to say "5.99" instead of 59.99.

This is pretty good for a mouse.

You can get a very reliable Wacom Intuous Draw for less than a hundred bucks.

Thanks. It's only a matter of time before I get a half decent pad. I just bought a new desk so I just gotta save up a bit.

There's nothing natural about it at all. People that get turned on by that are just fucked in the mind.

It's only 14 bucks on the PlayStation Store, but I'd still suggest waiting for this release since they're using current tech to their advantage.

I was going to buy it on PS3 for ridiculous amounts of money, glad I don't have to do that anymore.

Yeah but physical copy.

That's what I'm saying man those kids will be a bitch and a half to deal with.

Isn't there anything else you want to study?

Not really. I'm taking the animation program because I find it interesting and I'll improve my technical skill as an artist. I don't really intend to make much use of it outside of my hobbies. The plan was to use the degree to move into teaching afterwards. There's not much else I could take that would interest me.
Studying that is a waste of money. Might as well go teach.

It's not that expensive, and it would be even less of an impact if I take this other job. It'd be like taking art classes in your free time.

Teaching is super rough dude. And when the pay and benefits are that good, there's a reason.

The reason is because northern Canada is considered undesirable by most people and no one wants to teach, erm... "disenfranchised" aboriginal kids in the Teritories. You're also expected to move thousands of miles away from where you live. But if you recall that's sort of what I wanted to do as a teacher.

I'd say if you're not struggling and your family has money you should pursue your education.

Well I could do both. Part-time school, part-time work. There's a chance I could do something with my (eventual) animation degree but in both scenarios I don't make much use of it.

You see this could range from giving an old man a blowjob to shoving a kilo of cocaine up your ass

No one can give you advice when you're this vague

Well in my OP I said I wasn't looking for advice, just general thoughts on what you would do in a situation that pitted money vs. probable happiness.

I think it goes without saying that I'm not setting myself up for future financial stability but sucking dick or moving coke. At best that would just set me up in the now.

"Could" or definitely will lead to something you want to do?

It would lead to me having lots of free time and money to fund doing stuff I want to do.
No I meant not pursuing the money. Would that definitely lead to something you want to do? Otherwise making money is important too.

Well I want to do that teaching thing right? But there's no guarantee that I'll enjoy that either. I only assume that I'll enjoy it.

Continuing my education in animation is what I want to do right now, even if I don't use it in my profession. But I'm sure I could both take this job opportunity and do that schooling.

It's not a guarantee that I'll enjoy my program or enjoy eventually teaching. I'm just pretty sure I'll enjoy them, based on how well I know myself.

I received some big news today. I would rather not get into the details but essentially I've been given an opportunity to set myself up financially for life. It would eat up all my time in the near future, but that dedication now could almost assuredly give me all the time in the world later on in my life to do as I please.

On the other hand I could maintain my current job and put myself through school that could eventually lead to something I genuinely want to do. Something that fulfills me and gives me purpose. Something I wouldn't likely get in the other scenario for at least 10 years.

It's a choice between large amounts of money that almost guarantee security versus potential financial instability but creative freedom and fulfillment.

I'm not necessarily asking for advice, I'm just interested in people's thoughts on the situation. I already know what I'm going to do.

hip hop is extremely in touch with youth pop culture. so there's bound to be some more overlap between anime and hip hop than you'll ever see in like, country or alt rock music or boy bands or w/e.

i dont think thats it. if you could explain how rap is in touch with youth pop culture or how anime constitutes youth pop culture in the first place, thatd be swell.
um i dont see why you would need explanations for either of those things but ill humor you regardless. hip hop has always been artistic expression by and for mostly young people. because of this, hip hop culture often reflects a broader youth culture and its trappings. a lot of the rappers today grew up watching pokemon and dragon ball and sailor moon and cowboy bebop and so on and so forth on american television. anime falls under youth pop culture because the people who consume it in america have historically ranged from young children to like, middle aged people. dont get me wrong here- manga/anime has a huge appeal to people in their 30s, 40s, 50s, and im not saying that anime culture is exclusively associated with youth. however, that industry does make a ton of their profits from young consumers. it's definitely a big part of youth culture in this part of the world right now, at least among people who have internet access/use the net often. the internet is hip hop's biggest market anyway, so the overlap there is also fairly significant.

i needed an explanation because it's not obvious to me why you think these things. why else.

but, yeah. nah. young people are the biggest market for the majority of products in the world, because young people have the most disposable income. that doesn't mean hip hop is, by nature, for young people. and i would argue the same with anime. anime seems to cater to lonely people, which more and more people are these days, and rap has become pretty depressing and gothic in recent years, so maybe those two traits mesh well together or something idk.

and i don't think grown men would go from something like dragon ball, naruto, or even pokemon (to a lesser extent) to whatever this other shit i'm seeing is. those shows are about beating the other guy in a fierce battle and being the fucking best guy ever. it's surface level manliness. there's a start contrast from those anime and this other shit i'm seeing.
