:(

Hayter was good but I don't think he'd fit at all in TPP.

I never thought he was a good fit for Big Boss. I've been supporting Sutherland since the beginning.

There's no question he's the ideal Solid Snake, though.

Sure thing, Kojima.

nanomachines tho

jk, snake is just far better at CQC than Fox

Even though Frank has almost 20 years of experience on him? And was also trained by Big Boss?

Yeah, but Captain America is superhuman candycoated as peak-human. Snake is just a really, really good soldier at the end of the day, while Fox is the product of like three different supersoldier programs alongside his seniority at fighting. The guy is a ninja Terminator; there's only so much that a really good soldier can do against something like that.

We're lead to believe that BB's genes really do make a huge difference. Regardless of how ridiculous it seems.

If you wanna like Halo, that's your prerogative.

But why you gotta like Halo 3. It's the worst one, ffs. And I'm not even talking about campaign.
reach is the worst one though

Reach has far more saving graces than 3.

so?
you don't inherit how you sound

that's like saying identical twins should sound the same after living on opposite sides of the world for half their lives

Well that last point is kind of irrelevant as Solid grew up in the same part of the BB did...

I mean, being a clone of someone would mean that you'd have the same vocal chords as your clone, so in reality, you'd probably sound like them. I think that's how they got away with Liquid sounding different. He grew up in Britain.
There's other factors that affect your voice, like damage and smoking

Sure. But I'm just playing devils advocate, that two perfect clones would likely sound identical given Solid's upbringing in comparison to BB. BTW, we also know that both BB and Solid smoked quite a bit.

Good thing we know Solid isn't an exact clone of BB.

I don't see how one could convey that in multiplayer, but okay...
Starting/Victory themes, ambiance sounds when you play, music, announcers, weapon sounds, sirens, etc.

But that's like, so minor that it could be completely ignored if one wanted.

Not to mention that MW2 still had all those things as well, and arguably better.

and BO2 (I would argue) has objectively the best campaign out of any of them.
not objectively it doesn't

Branching storylines? Multiple endings?

The game was written by the same dude who wrote The Dark Knight. That should be enough.
it still isn't objective though

True. I would still argue it's the best campaign, though.

why shouldn't they sound the same

isn't solid snake big boss's clone or some shit

Yeah, "they're clones". But not really.

Solid got BB's dominant genes, Liquid got BB's recessive genes. Solidus got a mixture of dominant/recessive genes (whichever ones were superior. "A well balanced masterpiece", he was called.) So none of them are really clones of BB, as to be a perfect clone would mean an identical genetic template.

And not to mention that these games make a point of giving each of BB's "sons" different voices. Liquid doesn't sound like Solid, none of them sound like Solidus. . .

So I mean, calling WaW the "last good CoD game" on the foundation that it ISN'T a reskin of MW1 is kind of ridiculous. Especially when it's successor does things a lot better.
MW2 was a complete shitshow, regardless of what it did better

So what? Being a shitshow doesn't make its improvements any less real.
it doesn't make it good either

I didn't say it was good. I said that this idea that "WaW was the last good CoD, because it wasn't a complete reskin of MW1" is bullshit.

That's dumb.
They shouldn't have sounded the same.

No, Luciana is mistaken. He made no distinction between BB and Solid Snake. It was, like I said, a gradual change over time, probably not intentional.

But yeah, they shouldn't have sounded the same.

I mean, I like WaW, I'm just saying that Lemon's point that WaW being the last non-reskin is just simply false.
O

True I suppose, but I feel WaW, while being a re-skin in terms of perks and all that, really had enough of a unique atmosphere and setting, that it set it apart.

It nailed the brutality and darkness and almost haunting feeling of WW2 so amazingly well. And that ending still gives me chills.

I don't see how one could convey that in multiplayer, but okay...

And if we're talking about campaign, MW2, among fans, has one of the best, and BO2 (I would argue) has objectively the best campaign out of any of them.

He made BB sound the same as MGS1/2 Solid Snake, but obviously not MGS 4's.

Peace Walker wants a word with you.

Did Hayter do the same voice for Snake and BB, or did he make them sound different?

Not, it was a more gradual change over time.

For example, his MGS1/MGS2 voices are nearly identical.

MGS3's has a little bit more gruff to it, but it's far more awkward than future games and I equate this Snake's voice to a pre-pubescent dude trying to get used to his new, manly voice.

Portable Ops has a little bit more gruff, IIRC. This is the game I'm least familiar with.

And in MGS4, he sounds like a mix of Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy and Aiden Pierce if he smoked 10 cartons of cigarettes a day. I mean, it makes sense, since Old Snake is dying and stuff. And I think his MGS4 performance is his best. But it gets ridiculous in Peace Walker. I think that was the point where Kojima was like "Okay, we need someone else." He does a really good job with delivery, I just don't think the voice works all that well with BB.

voice acting is serious business
It can be. I have a lot of respect for good actors, and voice acting is arguably more difficult. The only thing you can use is your voice.

Unless you have that mocap shit but whatev

i don't get it

Basically, the guy you see in the picture on the plane is David Hayter, the original voice actor for Solid Snake/Big Boss until the last MGS game, Peace Walker.

When Kojima started working on MGSV, he declined to offer Hayter the position of Big Boss and offered it to Kiefer Sutherland instead. This caused a HUGE backlash from the community, who absolutely loved Hayter.

What you're seeing in the gif is a modded MGSV: Ground Zeroes, where the main guy wearing the hat represents Kiefer's Big Boss, and he's using that machinery to "erase" Hayter from the game, as a sort of "fuck you" to Hayter because he got the role of BB instead of him.

I don't see why you're singling out BO2 as a bad game if you're saying that all of them are the same. That would make even CoD 4 and WaW bad games.
Because they weren't copy/paste of each other

Every CoD since WaW has been a reskinned MW with more stupid shit added each time. BO and BO2 aren't exceptions.

MW2 added more to the franchise than WaW did, lol.
WaW introduced one of the biggest things in the franchise

So did MW2, and more of them.

Not saying MW2 is good, just saying your point isn't a good one.

Thank god, someone who makes sense.

I might not agree with CoD's business plan, but saying a game is "bad" because it's the same as it's predecessor, which you concede is "good", makes no sense.
