I just realized Raiden was a genderswapped Meryl while Olga was a genderswapped Snake.

In MGS1 Meryl was the rookie in way over her head, who needed Snake to bail her out whenever she stumbled blindly into danger, and she had no personal reason to be on Shadow Moses aside from it being a mission...just like Raiden.
In MGS2 Olga was a cynical, unshaven badass who growled out one-liners and was far more competent than Raiden as well as she had a much more personal reason to be on the Big Shell...just like Snake.
i think that's a bit of a stretch tbh

They're intentionally recycled characters in MGS2.
Except Raiden and Meryl have different genitalia, and Olga has tits while Snake doesn't.

Solidus was never alluded to being a Liquid reskin, but he was.
sure he was the ai campbell literally said that the big shell incident was supposed to mirror shadow moses logically that would imply that raiden = solid and the leader of the opposition would = liquid In terms of personality and role in the plot, Raiden = Meryl, and Olga = Snake...and Fox too I guess.

Nah, I'm just bullshitting. There's really no stated reason how Solid is inferior, and the entire plot point got dropped by the time Sons of Liberty rolled around.
presumably things like 20/20 vision, predisposition to physical attributes like agility and strength, instincts and stuff could make one superior to the other fortunately that doesn't matter
