Wait what the fuck, theres zombies in it now?
saw a clip from a trailer
They're called "Skulls", and we don't know exactly what they are. I have my own theories that are pretty well-thought out and potentially full of potential spoilers.

Also, there's been rumours going around that The Phantom's Pain FOB mode is locked behind a pay-wall. Using things called "Mother Base Coins", you're supposed to purchase surrounding waters to develop your FOBs. These things can be purchased with real-life money, and certain people believed that they were only accessible with real-life money. It's not true, Konami just came out and said that those rumours were false. You don't need to worry about microtransactions ruining the game.

You learn something new everyday.

I am definitely joking. Unless I'm not. It's really a mystery.
Much like Solid Plisskin.
Okay, good. I'm a little on-edge at the moment. Sorry.

I'm really enjoying ground zeros, I wanna go back and play the others cuz I wanna know more I need closure
Do you have a PS3 or Xbox 360?
I have an xbone and a 360
I would get the HD collection for 360. It has MGS3 and PW, which are the most important things to play before playing Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain. MGS4 as well but I would recommend watching the cutscenes if you're not interested in purchasing a PS3.

I really hope you're not being serious. Totally impossible, Liquid was blonde and had one arm while Solid is brunette and has his body intact. 1. The body could have no hair, due to burns and such from potential explosions. 2. Many people believe Solid Snake is naturally blonde like his brother. 3. If Solid had actually died, authorities could have assumed he lost his arm in the confusion of a sinking tanker. Again, we can argue all we want about what could have happened, but it's all conjecture. We have to take Kojima at his word, even if it contradicts previously established canon. It's not like retcons are out-of-character for Kojima-san. Besides, wouldn't they know the difference between limey recessive British genes and red-white-blue all-American dominant genes? A total novice could tell them apart. This is what makes me think and hope you're joking.

Plisken=Snake
But he took the name out of respect or something, right? The real Solid Snake died in that tanker accident two years ago.
No, he took it to keep his identity a secret. He used "Plissken" as a reference to "Snake Plissken" from "Escape from New York", and he used "Iroquois" as a reference to one of the biggest Native American tribes based in New York, "Iroquois". "Iroquois" also means "black snake" in Huron.
Then what is Plisken's true identitiy? He can't be Liquid or Solidus, so was there a fourth clone that survived the LET project?
He's Solid Snake...
Impossible. He died in that tanker incident two years ago. They matched the DNA of the corpse to him!
Can't tell if you're being serious or not... Solid didn't die on the Tanker. They used Liquid's body to cover up Solid's survival, because they have apparent identical genetic makeup.

]Snake was a Green Beret, though. Green Beret's are a branch of the Army, not Marines.
Yes, I know. What I'm saying is that an army man wouldn't confuse the SAS with the marines.
Then your hypothesis it probably accurate. That he (Kojima) wanted Raiden (the player) to begin questioning everything.

"Whatever it was, it looked unmanned."
"Unmanned?" this is one of my biggest pet peeves ever when it comes to dialogue
fucking anime
It's actually used in day-to-day conversations in Japanese. Things like grunting and stuff are used to demonstrate the you're actively listening to the other person. It's not a writing or fictitious tool Japanese writers use, it's actually apart of their culture.

So, we're only 8 days away now. Review embargo has lifted, and it's looking. . . pretty good. I don't know what it is, but it's taking everything in me not to go and read GameOverGreggy's review. He and I agreed that Peace Walker was the best game of last generation, so I wanna hear his thoughts on The Phantom Pain. Anyways, today's question is: what's your favourite Metal Gear-related song/composition? My favourite is either Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake - Theme of Solid Snake Calling to the Night (Piano Version)- Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops Love Theme - Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

"He who dares, wins"
Why did Plisken, a US Marine, quote an SAS motto?
Because he felt like it. Seriously. Plisken=Snake, but Snake was never a marine. He might've gotten them confused but they never cleared that up. It's more than likely that he just said the SAS motto so that Stillman could generate doubt for Raiden about who Pliskin was.

Oh yes. GOTY here. Perfect scores everywhere. The only complaint being the plot is hard to understand. (From what I've read so far)
MGS4 got perfect scores, too. I'm still reserving the right to review it for myself.

Went to a Comic Con today as Summer Snake. Will post pics.
Please, do! I really like the bit from MGS2 when Otacon breaks down and Snake is just like
"Yo, Hal, you gotta get them hostages on the chopper, but we're still bros so here lets do a handshake." "Otacon, try to get as many hostages out as you can. It's a short flight to the shore, so don't worry about overloading the Kamov."

Why do the bad guys get all the best lines, while the protagonists are stuck repeating the key words of whatever they've just been told?
Traditionally, the protagonists of the Metal Gear series frequently interject other character's speech to create the illusion that they're engaged in a two-way conversation. In Japanese, this is called Aizuchi. Things like "Whatever it was, it looked unmanned." "Unmanned?" are used frequently in Japanese dialogue. Thankfully in The Phantom Pain, Kojima cut this down quite a bit to make facial capture more emphasised and the character interaction more realistic. This video shows just how ridiculous it actually is when you think about it.

I'm okay with fan service, but at least give us a half assed explanation.
Then you're going to hate MGS4.

Why do you hate MGS4? My thoughts in a nutshell: 1. Kojima Productions only made it because Kojima was receiving death threats due to the ambiguity of MGS2's ending. There was no reason for creating a chronological sequel to Sons of Liberty other than to ensure Kojima's well-being. 2. Snake's psychological MGS4 Spoilers inability to kill himself at the end of the game ruins the character established over the last two decades. 3. There are 9 hours of cutscenes that could but brought down to 5 if they cut out what wasn't needed (Ex. Drebin's monkey smoking and drinking Cola). Which wouldn't be a problem if the gameplay length was greater, but it isn't. 4. Boss battles are shallow and uninspired. 5. MGS4 Spoilers Big Boss - the titular antagonist of the entire franchise - is brought back to life at the end of the game, for five minutes, just so they can kill off again. All the while, milking Snake Eater's ending just to cheaply emotionalise the player. What's worse, is that they didn't have to do that. David lighting Jack's cigar is a much more emotionally-appropriate and touching scene for the game to have, and it's tainted by the salute. 6. Too much emphasis on weaponry makes it seem that neither stealth nor any of the game's other assets were a high-priority for the developer. 7. MGS4 Spoilers Nanomachines are used as a cheap way to "fix" what Sons of Liberty's story did "wrong". I still remember the first time I played it. And there was some soldier with the shits. He was even hiding in a trash can or something. I was like lol what the fuck. Johnny Sasaki, aka the guard Meryl knocks-out in MGS1, aka the guard that watches Solid Snake in MGS1, aka the guard that has a bad case of the shits in MGS2, aka the grandson of the guard that watches Naked Snake in MGS3.

'Our beloved monsters. Enjoy yourselves.'
GW doesn't even do anything but he still made it sound intimidating.
As a close second, Ocelot muttering 'You're pretty good' to Snake at the end of MGS4, with the accompanying flashbacks.
Honorable mention to every word Skull Face says. His delivery is what sells them. Why do the bad guys get all the best lines, while the protagonists are stuck repeating the key words of whatever they've just been told?
Ill address why when I get home.
