If the 1 day left message isn't "Snake, abort the mission." I'm going to be a little disappointed.

Didn't even think about that tbh

Scissors. 61!

14883
TBH I felt like my MGSV thread was the best Gaming thread in awhile

until gats of course but that goes without saying

A moderator that only has powers in Gaming is still the best option

No, the monitor wouldn't have extra perms

Without extra permissions it's seems like a largely redundant solution.

Quote
It's a vulnerability because it would allow users to basically delete and edit posts to their heart's content within their own threads, and that doesn't promote open discussion.

I would've have said it doesn't matter, because if people don't like it they can make their own thread. But I'll leave that point alone.

However, could it be possible for someone like myself, who has an active interest in updating his thread constantly, to "apply" for mod powers in their own thread? A mod or member of staff could look over my behavior and deem if I'm worthy of such permissions. If it was abused, it could simply be revoked, and I would be punished accordingly.

The goal is to never have this happen again. It was devastating to me, even if most people just shrug it off. I know there are others like me, and I don't want them to experience that.

Quote
We're still talking about the punishments and Icy isn't finished drafting up the rules/explanation yet.

I just want to add my two cents in here: if the punishment isn't severe enough, it's not going to successfully deter these kind of people from doing it. I know a 2 or 3 month ban might seem ridiculous, but games launch every 2-3 months. Someone could simply do this, get banned, and return just in time to ruin another game.

Appointing a general monitor who frequents gaming would be a better choice, and I will be considering expanding the staff in a week or two, after I get a feel on how much adding the two monitors helps out with the workload.

Would the new monitor have any special powers in Gaming?

Otherwise it feels like a waste of time. Kupo was pretty active in that thread, it's not like he could've done much.

It's severely vulnerable to abuse, as is.

How?

Also, have you decided on the severity of the punishment regarding future spoilers?

The graphics don't look as bad as I thought.

Mandatory Venom edit

Make that your avatar lol

14891
It isn't as easy to enforce as you might think.
Sometimes it's a genuine mistake, and other times it's because they don't care.

Well I suppose if you can't stop them all, there's no point in stopping a few.

Especially since it'll just propagate on the internet.

Until the Internet is at a fast, reliable speed for everyone, all digital isn't and shouldn't happen.

True. It's not a goal for the current times.

Quote
That and digital prices are ridiculous.

Doesn't steam compensate for that tho

14892
Retailers in foreign countries are always breaking street dates.

I know, it just seems a bit ridiculous that it keeps happening.

Surely there is some way to discourage that sort of thing.

This is further incentive to make digital the way of the future, tbh. I mean, copy what Steam does with sales, and we'll have a perfect system.

Also, nice title.

You know it.

14893
Also, why the fuck are all these games getting released early all the time?

Like how the fuck does that keep happening? I understand review copies (though I'm against these too), but these companies need to step up their game.

14894
And y'know what the worst part about this day was?

I was rewatching a review for Revengeance on my second monitor, when I got an email notification on my phone. Instead of checking it immediately, I refreshed the thread. And saw the picture Gatsby posted.

If I had checked the email, or clicked "Gaming" instead of "refresh", a spoiler could have been completely avoided for me. Because that email was a notification from CIA, telling me to stay the fuck out of my thread.

Just a slight difference could've changed everything.

Anyways, I'm going to bed. Shitty day for the most part, but I'll see you guys tomorrow.

14895
I updated the OP with the spoiler tag

nice addition, but too little too late

14896
Even if I did play it at launch, I would have been lost. Very mature stuff would have left my confused brain behind.

Well I was like 3

so

i wouldn't even be able to get passed the tanker section lol

there's no shame in playing it later, i just think that we don't really get the raiden hate because we weren't at the forefront of the blow

i really don't like raiden in mgs4, though.

14897
I honestly don't remember really. I was so young in 2001.

Well, to be honest, I don't think it really affects you in the way it was supposed to.

I mean, I was born in the same year as Metal Gear Solid original. There's no way I could have enjoyed that game in it's prime, and thus, develop a good level of nostalgia for it that would make me crave a good sequel.

So in 2001, when MGS2 came around, I would have had no interest in playing as Solid Snake.

People who were from 14+ when MGS2 was released would be affected the most by it, I think.

14898
BRUH I GOT

Screaming Salamander
Salamander Unit reporting in.
What do we do, slither on the ground and lick people?

Strut around in skintight outfits underneath cybernetic superweapons spouting lines related to your codenames.

RAGE!

RAGE!

lol bruh that's the funniest part of mgs4

like, sreaming, laughing, and crying are all doing just what they say they are

raging raven just repeats

RAGE

14901
Fair enough.

But even back then I think I liked it. I liked he was struggling with stuff, and his rant about child soldier crap in the end where he ranted and blew up on Rose, was so well done.

you played it on release?

i can't say I did. I didn't play mgs2 until august of 2014.

14902
You should kill yourself too.

You're derailing my thread with your obsession. Please stop.
Lol. fucking child.

Says the one actually acting like one

Just report and move on. That's what I did.

I appreciate the support tho, man.

14903
also, the internet wasn't really a big thing back then, like it is now

14904
you can't really understand the hate for raiden nowaday, you needed to play it during it's release

i mean, yeah, nowadays it's pretty obvious that MGS2 was supposed to mock mgs1

but no one really realised that back in the day

it's easy to say "i don't get the hate" now but back in the day all people wanted to do was play as solid snake

14905
but that ruins the joke

I wasn't sure what you're joke was at first so I just sidestepped it

but yeah chemistry, and most intellectual fields of anything, aren't really my forte. i didn't exactly pay attention in school.

14906
I too enjoyed him in Revengeance

also don't worry guys i'm still writing the review. it should be out before TPP

but obviously i didn't get much done today.

14907
Compromise: one person gets Acid Ocelot, the other gets Base Ocelot.

I'll take Based Ocelot

if that's an option

14908
full name: Acid Ocelot
first name: Acid Ocelot

I'm Acid Ocelot.

YouTube

They missed Big Boss declaring that Snake was both his son and his brother or some weird shit at the end of GotP.

Well to be fair, I think it's meant to demonstrate Liquid saying "brother".

14909
First I got Careless Ocelot.

Then I got Careless Mantis.

I'm not sure which I like better.

Mantis is better

cuz we already have multiple ocelots
