Anyone have a good flame material farming level I can rep?

I need to expand the medical team for the bandana.

Also, have you guys got the Water gun yet lol?
Yes, and I've been meaning to test it against the Man on Fire to see if it will damage him

Story Spoiler regarding a side-character.
I'm going to use it on Quiet to see how she'll react. Will post results.

Okay, thanks. I don't have the game, though, I'm just watching a walkthrough of it. I'm tempted to skip that and just look up the cutscenes.

Don't. Just watch the walkthrough and in due time it'll show itself.

Watching end credits now. Still missions left to do though.

It's not over yet!

What mission are you on/just completed?

Spoiler
I beat Sahalanthropus and then nicked it and then Eli got the vial and then credits which I am watching right now

Enjoy the second half of the game. The mission structure

reminds me of Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, to be honest.

I actually hope they do this lol, Snake Eater in the FOX engine would be amazing.

Snake Eater is the only one that would work well with this new infiltration gameplay that Kojima has set up.

The only way I could see remaking MG, MG2SS, MGS and MGS2 in the Fox-Engine is if they made them all in the same game.

Like imagine MG1 is a couple of levels in a big area (akin to Afghanistan, let's say) and once you beat it, you move onto MG2:SS's story in Zanzibarland, akin to African.

MGS1, same premise. Not sure how they would handle MGS2.

But yeah, that's the only feasible way it could work.

Quote
I just wonder whether Hayter would come back because he's not happy with the way he was treated with V

He said he would come back if asked, and I reckon he will if they go through with the games.

But Kojima got what was coming to him with that Hayter shit. He's currently out of the job.

so who were those two guys in the hospital in the beginning

one looked kinda like psycho mantis

was the other volgin?

Spoiler
Yes to both. The Man on Fire is Volgin's corpse resurrected by Kid Mantis.
thats fucking radical

Spoiler
Which raises the question of why Mantis wasn't that powerful in MGS. We see him make zombies, throw around a fifty-foot-tall mech, teleport around and pull all sorts of shit as a kid, so why was he weaker as an adult?

I mean, I know the answer is the fact that MGS is almost twenty years old, but I can't stop puzzling over this.

Don't worry. When Konami remakes the entire franchise with shiny and new graphics I'm sure they'll explain all this.

Apparently TPP's collector's edition mentions stuff about a cut mission that was kind of huge to the plot.

Spoiler
Supposedly you were going to track down Eli and Kid Mantis, who had stolen Metal Gear Salamander or Salmonella or Salisbury Steak or whatever it's called, then destroy it and defeat the two FOXHOUND brats.

Sahelanthropus.

I like the gameplay to this game better than all the other Metal Gears

It's definitely one of the most technically proficient games I've ever played.

Konami -- remake MG1/2 like this lol

But as I was playing some of the missions, I couldn't help but remember Shadow Moses. And how small it feels now that I've played free-infiltration stealth.

Kind of an anticlimactic end for Venom Snake, though.

Like, it's so...bleh. When I go back to my ACC I don't even want to play as him, I want to be Big Boss.

Huge end-of-game spoiler
I suppose my suspsicisions for why I didn't feel like Big Boss were pretty accurate

Still, Big Boss barely speaks in this game. I dont see why they had to ditch Hayter so poorly.
Spoiler
You thought it was gay right?

Spoiler
I... I don't know how I feel about it yet.

Initially I was disappointed with the game, but...

I just don't know what I'm feeling. Give me a bit.

Jesus fucking Christ.

Just beat the game, guys.

My impressions below (spoiler-free, but very opinionated):

Spoiler
-I don't know if I liked the ending or not
-I was disappointed with the story
-gameplay is flawless
-felt incredibly short for a Metal Gear game (though perhaps that's because there's less than 2 hours of cutscenes)
-there was a LOT of stuff cut from this game. Several scenes from some of the trailers are just missing,  which is a damn shame
-Quiet is a shit character and I do not feel bad for my words and deeds, Kojima. No good reason for her to look like that
-story is poorly told

Honestly all I'm feeling right now is disappointment. The game is really fucking fun but I play MG for the story, and it feels like we're given no context to anything we do after Africa.

It's technically proficient enough to be considered one of the best games of all time, the story just holds it back a lot.

So OP, lol

man I can't get Quiet to work for me, either. Like, she doesn't listen to my commands.

I think it helps to the transition to Richard Doyle in MGS4.

Which is like another 30 years away.

I get where that argument comes from but it doesn't really stand on it's own. Kiefer doesn't sound any older than Hayter, Kiefer is just a much better Big Boss.

I don't know. His acting in this game is fucking great. I just don't feel like I'm playing as Big Boss.

I quite like Kiefer, it feels like a decent compromise between Hayter and Doyle

He's good but I just don't see "Big Boss" in him.

My gripe is the Boss doesn't speak much unless it's cutscenes, and even then it's not much.

Still, I like the cassette tapes, so it's fine.

I actually prefer this because Kiefer just feels off to me /:

but I find that all of the characters aren't talking as much unless it's Kaz, Ocelot or Huey.

So, how about that opening? So intense.

One of the best parts of the game and arguably the best opening ever
Right.

I knew the route they were going with this would sacrifice the story some. But it's still fun. So much fun. It will last longer than any linear MG game would at least.

Expectation spoilers
I'm just not sure why they couldn't do both

i'm going to withold judgement until i'm done but yeah

It makes me sad that, even though one of my dad's favorite NES games is the shitty Metal Gear port (I still can't bring myself to tell him that it's not the real Metal Gear), he would never be able to get into the newer games, because he HATES extended/frequent cutscenes.

He just doesn't give a fuck about the story. But he's coming from a generation where you didn't have to give a fuck about the story. You just played the damn game.

There's like,

no cutscenes in MGSV tho

it's all gameplay

tbh it's one of my gripes

unless you take notes during play (which no one does, even though they SHOULD)

Lol it's funny that you say that because I had to guy and buy a new notepad for MGSV and I have like 30 pages of shit written down
