I mean, Kojima's said dumb shit before. I'm sure you all know he doesn't even consider games to be art.

I actually didn't know this. You'd think he'd be one of those guys that advocate games as art.

adds intellectual value to the story.

What story?

You could apply that entire post to the story.

So disappointing.

You're right. She is the antithesis to those kind of characters.

There's just no point to it. There's no  character development that justifies it and adds intellectual value to the story.

That just made me laugh. It's... unbelievable.

The only thing that made me laugh was Ocelot's face. He wanted to be in there with Boss.

Adding more fuel to the fire:

Spoiler
The scene might be in the game, but I have yet to come across it.

But what's interesting is the Ahab, NOT Ishmael, is smoking real cigars. Hmm...

I bet that was intended to be part of the birthday cutscene.

Was it? I haven't seen that scene yet, I want to be surprised.

Could be that some of the scenes shown in the trailers were just to generate hype and were never intended to be in the game, like Halo 2's commercial where Master Chief jumps out of the ship he's in.

To my knowledge, there weren't nearly as many cut scenes.

It's one thing to generate hype, it's another to completely mislead your fans on the game's intentions, and then underdeliver on the mystery.

You sure it's not there? It's below where the MGS1 skin is

Yeah, 100% sure.

How many side ops/dispatch missions have you completed?

Is no one else interested in chasing this conspiracy? To find out what happened to the game pre-launch?

Something definitely went on behind the scenes. Tomorrow I'm going to look through every piece of released material to see if I can find any more clues.

There were several scenes gutted from the game, in all 3 E3 trailers, including:

-the training of the child soldiers ("Sins of the Father" Trailer)
-the waterboarding at Camp Omega ("Sins of the Father" Trailer)
-Demon Snake walking over what appears to be a village of some sort, burnt to the ground, with a Vulture feeding off the remains of a corpse ("Nuclear" Trailer)
-insubordination at Mother Base, where Snake forces one of his men to stab him ("Nuclear" Trailer)*
-the interrogation of Quiet by Kaz and Ocelot ("Sins of the Father" Trailer)*
-the choking of Quiet ("Sins of the Father" Trailer)*
-the silent scream of Demon Snake ("Nuclear" Trailer)
-burning flames around Demon Snake ("Nuclear" Trailer)

Either these things are hidden in the game, or completely gone. I fully expected the burning flames and silent scream of Demon Snake to be the climax of the game's story, signalling Big Boss's descent into "hell". Too much to hope for? I disagree, because that's what the trailers specifically implied we'd be doing.

[* = may be in the game, unsure ATM]

Not to mention, this:

This is Big Boss. This scene takes place at the end of the game. But it's the real Big Boss, not Venom Snake, which the gif seems to imply.

How? Well...

1. He has his bionic arm.

and

2. He has the shrapnel in his skull.

Now, they may have just shifted assets around to mask the conspiracy, but they, to my knowledge, haven't done this anywhere else.

I'll keep digging. Something's going on here.

It's Ground Zeroes Big Boss... aka the real Big Boss.

I know that doesn't mean much, but... I feel like at some point we were meant to play as him.

I really have no idea. The requirements are R&D 40 and complete every mission. Are you sure it isn't there in the costume section?

Yeah, just checked. R&D team is level 49, I've completed every mission not labeled [EXTREME], [TOTAL STEALTH] or [SUBSISTENCE].

I haven't finished all the deployment missions, though. Could that be a factor?

Already got the Wormhole and Gray Fox skin. Also, there's an upgrade for D-Walker that acts as a Fulton Launcher to instantly snag enemies.
What are the requirements for the Cyborg Ninja skin? Beat all missions?

Yeah, I've seen that. It doesn't define what "every mission" means, though.
Every regular mission

So then how come I don't have the Cyborg Ninja skin?

Says you need the Master Certificate.

-_-

How do you get the Master Certificate?

It's "beat all missions", but does that include the "extreme", "subsitence", and "total stealth" missions? What about side ops?
Dunno, I'm assuming so. I haven't done any of the extreme or substitence ones and I got it.

So you only need to do the main missions and side ops?

Also, what the hell are Key Dispatch missions? All my combat deployment misisons are rank D or E... and how do I know which soldiers are in a unit? I dunno if the Battle Gear is even being used.

Dispatch missions with a yellow circle beside them. They get progessively harder.

I also have no idea how the dispatch squads work, tbh

There's an s ranked mission i gotta do, so I put all my s++ guys onto a squad. still says I only have a 50% chance of winning :/
