D-Dog must have nanomachine-enhanced legs. How else could he take a fall like that?

He's Krypto.

Anything prior to Metal Gear Solid in the continuity.

Don't get me wrong, Solid Snake > Big Boss

Big Boss just has better gamees

Sometimes I sort of forget that Big Boss' story takes place in the same continuity as Metal Gear and beyond. It's odd to suddenly remember that it's all basically a flashback and that the rest of the games in the timeline will happen later, given the difference in tone.

Excellent observation.

SPeaking of which, what's MGSV's theme? There's gene, meme, scene, sense, and... what?

I don't know what a butterface is

but she's not hot, i can tell you that

her tits aren't even nice, tbh, the boob physics are all wrong.

plus, no ass.

Holly for best MG female

So like

Does she love him or something?

Yes. Big Boss is apparently super sexy. Paz, Ocelot, the Boss, Strangelove, Eva, Quiet, Cecile and Amanda have all admitted to him being ruggedly sexy.

Which he is but whatever.

You guys are haters. MGS4 didn't have a terrible story.

Yes, it did. Even if it had it's good moments, the story was COMPLETE ass.

Quote
spoiler]So, the Medic and Big Boss were there, but, it showed the Medic looking like Big Boss. And it appeared he was talking to Paz by the door when she was on the table. Can someone explain?

I don't understand what you're talking about.

Spoiler
Also, no spoilers please, big ones, but where's this mission where you have to kill your men?
It's one the way to the end of the game. You'll get it, it's mandatory.

Is there any way to invade your friend's base? I want to fuck up Sean's shit

oi

Someone invaded mine while I was sleeping wtf

yeah
the idea is that you get high level soldiers to defend your base

your security team has gotta be good

so that when youre afk they can defend it for you

it's pretty cool actually. you can control their patrol patterns, weaponry etc.

The servers are still fucky for me so I haven't got to do as many FOB missions as I'd like.

I have the hero status which means I can get rid of nukes if I want, though.

Okay I'm gonna say this and it might sound unpopular honestly.

I think everyone agrees that MGS4 effectively ruined most of the series. Or at least realise that it was a shit story.

Anyone else feel the Metal Gear story as a whole fell apart ever since Kojima had to explain everything in 4? As in, it wasn't as good?

No, not at all. Peace Walker is the second best game in the series, IMO. Even if only from a story perspective.

I honestly have no good explanation to what happened in TPP. Like... there were so many missed opportunities.

Spoiler
Eli: Wasted character. The game ruins the intirgue from the get-go. There's a mission where you have to capture the "White Mamba", leader of the child soldiers. You're left thinking "shit... Eli?" Then the game's like "lol he's white in case you didn't notice." After you finally meet up with him, you don't really have any interaction with him save a few awkward silent stares.

A few missions later, Kaz contacts you "Boss... I think Eli is your son."

Whaatt... why reveal it like that? Wasted opportuninity.

Also, BB/Eli had no interaction. I was hoping to see why Eli hated Big Boss so much in MGS1 "He always told me I was the inferior clone." No... he didn't.

Other gripes: We didn't see the rescue of Naomi, or the saving of Sniper Wolf. Saladin never became Saladin. Gray Fox wasn't even IN the game, even though the timeframe was perfect.
Sorry yeah. Peace Walkers story was pretty great yeah. I just feel that V's story is... meh.

Kojima had too much on his plate canon wise to just throw all in one game, and those he did felt so... bad. I like to think that it's because his Konami fiasco caused him to ruin some things.

But at the same time, he was without his co-writer as well.

So we're just meant to believe that every good story in the series was solely because of his co-writer?

I think it has more to do with this whole Konami shit. You hear about this more and more, that publishers keep fucking with development. I feel like this game was meant to come out a year before now.

Spoiler
I'd assume so, going by the Outer Heaven logo you can see reflected in the glass and the "Operation Intrude N313" written on the back of the tape.

Spoiler
The beginning of the game also reads,

"Just another day in war without end - OUTER HEAVEN."

Which is where Ahab listen's to Ishmael's tape.

The way I see it, this was Ishmael's way of threatening Ahab. "Hi, this is the real Big Boss. You may be confused so allow me to explain. You're actually a medic who was given mental manipulation and plastic surgery to look and act like me. This was so I could start my own nation of soldiers, which is far different from your Diamond Dogs mercenary group. If you don't fuck off with this Outer Heaven Uprising bullshit, I'm going to stop you."

Hence the "Operation N313" on the back of the tape.

Spoiler
When is Kaz/Ocelot's call at the end? I'm guessing it's sometime after he wakes up.

Spoiler
That conversation doesn't take place during the game's events, but years after. I assume sometime before Ahab learns the truth.

The game doesn't explain it well /:

so basically nanomachines are like the MGS equivalent to midichlorians

essentially

though i don't consider MGS4 to be canon

or anything after mgs2 in the continuity

sorta like how noelle doesn't think stuff from star wars eu isn't canon

but i'm less serious about it obviously

The quarantine mission would have been much more impactful if you didn't have the worst monster in the series calling you out for it. Even worse because you're supposed to agree with him.

Spoiler
That level was better than the prologue chapter, IMO

it's the highlight of the game

Spoiler
The level itself was great. Huey's commentary serves no purpose other than to taunt Snake and make Huey an even shittier character.

Spoiler
Actually, I thought the Huey's commentary helped immerse the player in that section. I had legitimate difficult killing my men thanks to him.

I really think it's something you needed to have played to understand. It's the game's strongest point.

I'm not sure how I feel about Volgin surviving Operation Snake Eater, it seems like a huge stretch that he survived just out of his desire for revenge. But then Volgin's pretty cool in both games, so it's cool to see him again

Spoiler
I thought Mantis was controlling his corpse. Was he actually alive?

Spoiler
He was severely burned after Snake blew up the Shagohad. The Russians transported his body to a research facility to be tested on.

Yes, he survived. But he was given control of his body again via Mantis.

We only had Liquid's word that Big Boss said that, so there was always the chance that he either remembered incorrectly or just flat-out lied for whatever reason. Perhaps he irrationally decided that the negative DNA test equated to Boss telling him he was the inferior twin?

Spoiler
Or perhaps Liquid met up with the real Big Boss.

Spoiler
If Eli and Mantis had the last vial of parasites, why didn't they use it in Metal Gear Solid? Like, when he started losing to David when they fought atop REX, why didn't Eli just pull it out and toss it into David's face?

Spoiler
Because Eli used the last vial of parasites to clear an island of it's inhabitants so he could create the "Kingdom of the Flies" with the help of the child soldiers and Sahelanthropus.

Spoiler
Oh, okay. Though, I'd have preferred to see Liquid suddenly decide 'fuck it' and kill Snake by chucking a glass tube at him.

Spoiler
Side note, were you a little let down about Eli's characterisation? I fully expected Big Boss to start talking shit because he got fed up with his attitude. Not once did BB tell Liquid that he was worse than his brother, like Liquid said in MGS1.

I mean, Kojima's said dumb shit before. I'm sure you all know he doesn't even consider games to be art.
I actually didn't know this. You'd think he'd be one of those guys that advocate games as art.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/news240106kojimaart

What a stupid thing for him to say.

"I want to create the museum that houses the art, and I also want to create the art inside the museum."

That would still make games art.

What kind of asshole watches their boss shower with a coworker? Even if they're apparently clothed, it's still strange.

I would've rather Boss and Ocelot have a shower together.
