Spoiler
Between the two, Big Boss was the bigger bastard. Even at his horniest, Venom Snake still refused to kill children and execute Huey, and treated his soldiers like his own family.
Spoiler
And Big Boss did? I mean, Zanzibarland had child soldiers present.

As far as we know, Ishmael never killed his own men. Ahab did. I mean, it was for a good cause, but still...

Not to mention that Ishmael's "From the man who sold the world" cassette tape might have drove Ahab to insanity.

I mean, let's call a spade a spade. Neither BB's were evil in MGSV. Ishmael might have been a bit of a dick when it comes to his own safety, but I don't think I'd call him evil because he brainwashed one of his most trusted men.

Quote
Spoiler
Big Boss might have just wanted his body double gone after the latter got himself a Metal Gear and an army of his own, regardless of his moral alignment.
Spoiler
That would actually make him an evil cunt, which would be out of character. I dunno, I never saw BB as an evil character after MGS3. His appearance in MGS4 Kind of... solidified that idea.

Wow, that's dumb.

Once you finish Quiet's story you can't use her as a buddy anymore.

Talk about wasted assets.

Figured out why I didn't have the Gray Fox skin.

Why

I hadn't unlocked Episode 45.

I also have a lead on where this scene is found. Will update with video.

Spoiler
Only if the evil path is the canon one, though. There'd still at least be a huge scar on his head because skin and bone doesn't fully heal after getting several inches of metal embedded in it.

Spoiler
We can assume the evil path is canon based on the game's ending and MG1's premise.

I don't think Ishmael would organise a strike against the man who helped him cheat death unless he thought he was "too far gone (evil)".

Spoiler
Maybe that was the point of it from the beginning? To foreshadow that it's not actually Big Boss.

Spoiler
Could be. But Big Boss doesn't have a horn in MG1, either. And that's actually Venom Snake, who DOES have a horn in MGSV.
Spoiler
That's why I'm hoping that if they ever remade MG1 they could add that little detail.

Spoiler
The horn eventually comes out naturally, though.

I'm just wondering

Spoiler
How the hell he gets that horn out of his head. He doesn't have it in Metal Gear 2. Either he filed it down or they'll retcon it.
Spoiler
Big Boss doesn't have the horn in his head. He never did.
Spoiler

Spoiler
That, or it's just a retcon given Phantom Boss doesn't have it in Metal Gear and it's established that it can't be removed without causing brain damage.

Spoiler
Eventually it will come out, though. As Ahab becomes more demonic, the horn grows. Eventually it will fall out and probably signify his descension into villainy.

That probably would've been a good ending point.

I wish there were variants of the Solid Snake and Gray Fox skin in HD and how they are now, like, this is beautiful and I wish I could use it in TPP

They could do it, easily. Modders have been able to simply replace Big Boss's body with Hideo Kojima's. It wouldn't take long to implement MGS2's Solid Snake outfit into the game's files.

Another reason why the PC version will be the best version.

Question

Is that cutscene with him on the bike in the game?

Spoiler
Because that's not Venom Snake.

Spoiler
Last scene in the game.

That and he never planned the entire story in the grand scheme of things. It was kind of a plan it as you go thing.

Virtually what I said.

god why does mgs's timeline have to be all over the place

Because Kojima has always put quality before continuity.

Also

the launch trailer sees Big Boss transform into Skullface

but the game doesn't go anywhere with that.

I was expecting Big Boss to get Skullface's personality or something and that led him to go evil or whatever.

Here's what I thought was going to happen

Spoiler
Early in the game you come across Skullface multiple times. He says stuff that really gets into your head  (maybe, "you're not the real big boss" or something that'll really stick in his head). Shortly after (about the 1/3 mark) Huey kills Skullface as revenge for nine years ago.

This causes an Arkham Knight-Joker affect, where Skullface becomes the alter ego of Big Boss to disassociate with all the monstrous things he's about to do. That's where the story really kicks off.

But nah, never happened.

I was kind of expecting that too, hence seeing him at Mother Base and shit

It woulda been cliche but better than what we got

Spoiler
it woulda made sense why BB was evil in MG1

Seriously, how much of this game is going to be sold as DLC?

Camp Omega, it would seem, is just... gone. I'm hoping my friend can get back to me on the game's files. Then we can find out what's really going on.

Dumb question, but I just want to make sure.

Big Boss's story > Solid Snake's story

Anything prior to Metal Gear Solid in the continuity.

Sometimes I sort of forget that Big Boss' story takes place in the same continuity as Metal Gear and beyond. It's odd to suddenly remember that it's all basically a flashback and that the rest of the games in the timeline will happen later, given the difference in tone.

Excellent observation.

SPeaking of which, what's MGSV's theme? There's gene, meme, scene, sense, and... what?

Words and language.

kojima said it's a four letter word that ends with "e"
