To answer the thread question my least favorite mission is the one where you have 15 minutes to destroy as many trucks as possible. I hate it because it has no checkpoints and I died when I was on the way out of the hot zone >:(((

Replaying it is a bitch because you need to wait the whole 15 minutes every time. And you need to replay it multiple times in order to get all the mission tasks.

I think my favorite mission was either the Total Stealth version of Pitch Black, or Skull Face. Those missions required top stealth and I loved them.

I really enjoy the subsistence missions myself.
I've only done Subsistence C2W. Took me like half an hour but I still got an S-Rank. I even killed a guy in it. Thank fuck for sandstorms!

lol i hear ya

i'm saving the remaining missions for when i get raiden.
Using Raiden or Gray Fox restricts you to an A-Rank, but to be honest I'd be happy with just completing them

yeah well i can s rank stuff later >.>

i also went a day without playing, yesterday. not 24 hours, but two sleeping sessions.

So... does the water gun work on vulgan or nah?

According to my guide, with the fully upgraded water pistol it takes about 50 shots with it to stun him.

I just stand in the pool of water and use the Hand of Jehuty to pull him into the water with me, ending the battle instantly.

don't have the hand of jehuty yet :(

looks like im doing it the old fashioned way

This is what I'm working on right now, how's this

Amazing! That right there is why you're the Boss.
Thank you Mr Snake, is there anything you want on it, like a background or details?

Maybe a flag with "OUTER HEAVEN" on it with a sunset like in the Nuclear trailer?

What I meant was that MGS has never had real stealth. It revolves around set pieces and carefully crafted moments.
Like, objects that are obviously placed only for you to be able to hide behind them, and shit?

And things like guards having a 3 second blind spot when they sneeze

or having moments where if you venture on a specific path you can find a statue that snake uses to blend in by grabbing its penis

hard to articulate tbh

Neither do I. But the realism here adds to the gameplay by making it less of a gimmicky "stealth" game (like the previous games were, let's be honest) and more of a stealth simulator.
What are you trying to say? Genres are gimmicks?

I quoted the post... I'm assuming that's not what you were saying, then.

Yeah, no. Stealth is obviously a genre.

Looks like an action game with stealth elements to me, but then again I haven't actually played it yet.

It is absolutely a stealth game first.

Though I don't see why it being an action game would be a bad thing, considering if you do play stealthily, it's the best stealth game ever made.

Didn't say it was a bad thing. Just that it looks like more of an action game than a stealth game.

you been watching the wrong people play then, lol

it's actually ridiculous how much can change on any given playthrough

So I think most of us have beaten the game (or are close to it)

what's your favourite and least favourite mission?

My favourite mission is the "Blood Runs Deep" mission or "Shining Lights, Even in Death" mission.

Spoiler
Former is the one where you rescue the child soldiers, latter is the one where you stop the infection at MB and kill your own men.

Least favourite mission is probably Metallic Archaea

Spoiler
where you defend Code Talker from the skulls.

I'm talking about inside encampments themselves. You've got all this land, but they rarely seem to reach the level of internal detail present in other MGS games, specifically Ground Zeroes  (because fox engine, similar/same mechanics). I'd generally just chalk that up to the fact that the map design in Omega Camp is more contained, so more focus can be placed on details rather than filling in the map with various places for checkpoints and mountain paths (which are disappointingly sparse, by the way).

I dunno. I remember thinking that at first, too. But it appears the enemies become more aware as the game progresses. Around the 75-hour mark for me, enemies started sprinting at my location if they even slightly detected something was off. I literally can't do anything but crouch and crawl or it's game over.

I do agree about the checkpoints, though. You can spend like 15 minutes fultoning guards and shit and then accidentally die and have to redo everything.
