Spoiler
who is the one that actually rescues Sniper Wolf when she was child
Spoiler
Probably Venom Snake, but it could go either way.

Spoiler
and took Gray Fox and Naomi to the US?

Spoiler
Most likely Big Boss, given that Jaeger sides with him rather than his best friend, Solid Snake, during the Zanzibarland Disturbance.

Quote
Spoiler
but then Big Boss was involved in the Mozambican Civil War where he met Frank Jaeger (again) and Naomi
Spoiler
Big Boss was probably under the pseudonym of "Saladin" at the time, but Jaeger had already seen Big Boss in the past and knew his face. Over time their relationship grew, and Saladin told Fox the truth.

And given the fact that Big Boss goes to America to form/command Special Forces Unit FOX-HOUND.

Quote
Spoiler
And doesn't Big Boss's involvement in those conflicts negate his going underground plans he had?

Spoiler
Not necessarily if he's using a pseudonym. Like, "Saladin". They could use a million different excuses as to why Saladin would be there.
Alright, that explains a lot of things.

It's all pretty much conjecture, though. I'm still hoping that there's a third chapter that explains everything in the near future.

I also just think it would be an interesting and refreshing spin to see a strong, female character who happens to be unattractive. Not only would that be unique and consistent with reality—it would also make a good statement. Characters don't have to be attractive to be interesting or likable.

But you never see that. Ever. Why? Because men like ogling pretty women.

Well to be fair, how many likeable unattractive male protagonists are there?

I just think people like looking at nice things, male or female. Not that that's okay, but...

By that point in the game the player should be thinking 'oh, okay, you have breasts' instead of 'oh boy, boobs!'

It doesn't serve any thematic purpose whatsoever, though. Her doing that is kinda like two steps forward, one step back.

The whole snake scar thing is also pretty cheesy, too. So really, there's no benefit to that entire little section.

It's just there for fanservice.

Quote
It's actually a clever little point with Eva and the R2 cam. When she first appears, pressing R2 shows a close-up of her tits. By the end of the game, Snake is looking her in the eye. She becomes more than just a set of tits to gawk at.

Yeah, that makes sense. Eva uses her sexuality to get what she wants. That's fine, IMO, and adds to her character.

The Boss didn't need to do that, though. There's no - good - reason for her to do that.

Quote
And The Boss was never just a set of tits to gawk at, so the player doesn't (or shouldn't) really notice when she shows her scar to Snake.

Exactly my point. She doesn't need to show her tits, she's a perfect character without that.

So it boggles my mind why Kojima felt like he needed to include that.

Women can be pretty and have personalities at the same time. Just like men. Like well, the Rock is woah but he has an electrifying personality.

Its just when characters, like Quiet, are just eye-candy...there lies the problem.
Exactly. I don't know why this is so difficult for people to agree with.

well tbh I don't think anyone really disagrees with Korra's statement

I'm generally fine with sexual characters as long as they have characterization beyond being sexy.

Exactly.

Quote
Like The Boss, or Cortana.

Ehh... Cortana is a bit of a stretch, tbh. Yeah she's a great character but she's literally naked for no reason.

The Boss is the perfect representation of what female characters should strive to be like... until the final battle with her, where she needlessly unzips her uniform to show cleavage.

She's still my favourite fem character ever but that part served no purpose other than fan service, which I hope you agree with.

Quote
...And then you have characters like Quiet, who are there just for the sake of eye candy. I wouldn't have as much of a problem with her if she had an actual story arc and a personality of her own, but she's really just there to look good and shoot stuff. That's distasteful.

It's such a shame, too, because her story is... at least somewhat interesting. If she was wearing her XOF uniform or even some sort of solar suit (IDK, they could get creative), she'd be a better character than she is now.

I'll play Splinter Cell eventually but I highly doubt it has the same level of quality as any of the Metal Gear games. Except maybe MGS4, but even then, that game is still impressive at times.

Also Quiet is also the only shamelessly oversexualised character in the franchise. Meryl, Eva, and the Boss are some of the most well-written/strong female characters in gaming (particularly the Boss.)

Did anyone say 'you're pretty good?' in TPP?

Ishmael says it 20 minutes into the prologue chapter.

If you kill both guards right after you get your sidearm.

What was up with the Ocelot unit guys at Mother Base when Quiet arrived? Why did I never see them again?

I noticed that yesterday.

Idk, man. I like using random Combat Unit staff and wearing the Ocelot Unit uniform. Makes me feel special.

Thats fucking great tho lol

But yeah if anything you shoulda made big boss god and solid snake adam

Or big boss god and adamska adam

If you can incorproate ocelot and kaz into the god portion it'll work. Get DD in there too
Bit late for that now. I'm gonna make Ocelot God, and then the little cherubs Solid and Liquid

Yeah that'll work perfectly

Question, also a spoiler

Spoiler
So is actual Big Boss, not Vic Boss, good or bad? I still don't get it. He used us (The Medic) to cover for him while he goes and does his master plan. So what happens, and who's the good, who's the bad. And what eventually happens to us?
Spoiler
They don't explain it well. I was under the impression that at the end of Peace Walker, he effectivrly gors against the Boss's will because he thought she betrayed him. But he still wasn't evil.

You can also tell a subtle difference in Ahab and Ishmael's voice acting. Ishmael sounds more experienced and manipulative, IMO. While in TPP he isn't necessarily evil, he's just kind of a dick.

Spoiler
I was hoping to see something more clear cut. Although I'm very impressed and happy with the game, I was hoping for a more clear fall into insanity, and a more explained ending in terms of how things shape out

You and everyone else pal, lol

Story was wholly underwhelming. The actual direction, music and acting was superb, though.

I refuse to believe that BB
Spoiler
or venom
Is evil
And he's talking about child soldiers.

Dickish move

But not evil

Spoiler
VSnake isnt a bad guy and he would do the same.
>Creating orphans from warfare
>Train them to fight to wage the next war
>Intent to have perpetual war with soldiers fighting for their own ideologues instead of a common cause

Spoiler
Only reason Vig Boss isn't evil as shit is because of Miller shutting down his ideas, such as training child soldiers. He full and well intended to do evil shit.

That's all part of BB's ideology tho

Like, if those kids werent saved by BB theyd be fighting for country instead

Or be dead

He reckons its better to have a nation where soldiers fight for themselves rather than someone else
In the same sense, then, he's forcing his ideology onto the very children he claims to be saving from governments. Instead of deterring war, like the original intention, he intentionally creates war.

I don't see how "make an endless war starting from childhood" isn't evil as shit.

But he isnt because those children are fighting for what they believe

But yeah i suppose he is evil that way

Though if mgsv had done what it was supposed to i doubt we'd still see BB as the bad guy
