It's not for everyone, but it's a solid 10/10 title as opposed to an IGN 10/10
The game has plenty of depth, the character interactions on the whole are what stood out to me as the best. The world building and the like, I'm not paid to shill for them so I'll keep it brief but it's a great game all round.
I've heard it's good. And i'm not saying it's bad, or shallow. I'm just saying -- the amount of attention to detail in MGSV alone makes it harder to top.

I'm more interested in whether NDP or the Liberals will get elected in October. We need the money from pot taxation.

Haven't played it.
Doesn't interest me.
Somehow doubt it has the depth of MGSV. I do need to play it, though. If not only to compare.

Oh come on, plenty of good quality games come out. You just gotta look broader. Name one. The industry is a shit-show. In terms of story, the only one that immediately come to me was The Last of Us, but that game's functionality has the depth of a puddle. I can't even think of anything close to the level of MGSV's gameplay. It's so detail oriented but organic at the same time.

It's a shame because they seem to be the only consistently good games coming out.
I struggle to think of another game that has the same or a similar level of thematic and functional value.

Unless a website is tailored to conservative values, it is bound to have a progressive liberal bias. Tough shit, really. I still wouldn't consider us an echo chamber. Because most of us agree on a single thing? Nah. Liberals don't agree on everything.

Even so, that's $40M down the drain. I wager a lot of that is the production of the Fox Engine, though, which is always pricey. And really, it's their fault for wasting their own money if they're not even going to utilise their investment in the future (I.E. mobile games).

Do you go outside? The internet forum demographic is a lot different than your average normie. I still fail to see how that makes us an echo chamber. I mean, just on this site, you have feminists, anti-feminists, transgenders, atheist, theists, Libertarians, conservatives, liberals, anti-natalists and racists. Seems pretty diverse to me. Although if you're simply referring to things like "there is no God" or "evolution is fact" and stuff then, yeah, I agree with you. But that's ultimately a good thing considering those things aren't even worth discussing. There's a lot more Kinders out there... and they breed... and worse, they vote... for Trump. Don't get me started. I just found out a kid in my Law class is a Trump supported. I was like, "Dude, you're Canadian. You have everything to lose and nothing to gain from admitting that."

A good lesson to remember is that a blind optimist is usually set up for disappointment. Which is funny because I actually describe myself as a philosophical pessimist.

Konami might be dicks and all that, but uh $80 million production costs? $80M includes advertisements. $80M isn't all that much for a game. It's a lot, but it isn't anything ground-breaking. Not to mention Konami's revenue has gone up 167%.

Some people get tired of arguing how counter-terrorism operations can't be handled like conventional warfare and other assorted nonsense that you have to deal with outside of the internet and it's pseudo-intellectual based echo chambers. I'm sure that's not the reason Sean doesn't speak about religion or politics. But I mean... I would hardly call the internet an echo chamber... pseudo-intellectual, sure.

2 thing I never discuss with people politic and religion. That's because you're inadequately prepared to defend your beliefs.

I used to be on the MGS forums but they're all blind fanboys there.

I had just reached 3000 posts when I made my MGSV thread in gaming, and I now have more than 5000.
So... almost Mythic.

How much do you think it would cost a studio like Blur to create, say 5 hours of cutscenes?

Grow a backbone and not buy the game.
I do think that if you play it, you should own up to it, though.

I dint think anybody plans on buying the MGS mobile games they'll put out, or buying pachinko machines for our homes.
I'm sure they'll try to entice us with half-decent story driven mobile games. Or something. I don't know, it was more a precaution than anything else.

What would you like them to fill those areas with, out of curiousity?
Make trees purposeful, similarly to MGS3. More animal life, like MGS3. Use them tactically, such as poisoning guards, like MGS3.
I'm not saying that MGS3 was perfect, but there are so many mechanics that would have made the map much better. I'm not saying you should be stepping over wildlife in every step; the areas of the map that are entirely sand are fine as they are. The map is fine, I just wish they would have actually used it for more than going from point A to point C. It defeats the purpose of going open world if you are just going to keep making games with a linear goal in mind.
Excellent, we agree.

I wish MGSV had a photo mode where you could pause the game and rotate the camera aound Snake and take cool screenshots and shit.
Yeah, me too. I doubt we'll get much post-launch support all things considered.

I was arguing the pacing of the story was fucked due to it being a sandbox that doesn't guide you down narrow paths. And again, you've failed to demonstrate exactly how the pacing is affected directly by the sandbox. I've said multiple times that I agree, the pacing does feel off in The Phantom Pain. But I don't blame the sandbox for it, especially since the sandbox gameplay is inarguably what makes TPP the great game that it is.

I'd rather stick to Gaming or this thread, people are mean in Offtopic
My philosophy as well. Ideally we should have groups where we can talk about anything we want, and we can weed out the cancer of our forum. Or they can make an Offtopic forum in addition to Flood, with shitposting being relegated to the latter.

You're thinking too optimistically. Yeah, I kind of set myself up for disappointment on the regular. I don't know why I keep thinking Konami has a brain. Also as MGS fans we have to band together and not buy anything MGS related post-MGSV content unless it's console-based. That's our obligation, as Diamond Dogs.
