i've played the actual game, too, y'know

How much have you played?

Quote
and the beta is the exact same thing with even less content, so yeah it counts

So you don't need to experience all the game's assets to tell if it's good or not?

Are you still getting battlefront?

No. I'm kind of taking a hiatus from gaming, to be honest. I'm going to go back and play the "classics", like Zelda and shit. The only other game I'm getting this year is the new Pokemon MD and Halo 5.

"No games have the depth of MGSV's detail"

Nowhere did I say, "No games have the depth of MGSV." Stop picking and choosing what you take away from my statements.

I said the sheer amount of depth in MGSV alone means that it's highly unlikely that TW3 can top it. Notice how that doesn't mean that TW3 is shallow? I even then went on to say that, for all I know, TW3 does surpass MGSV's depth.

Quote
>People list a bunch of games with just as much detail

But none of them were good games in addition to those details.

Quote
"Yeah but those games suck or I haven't played them

"I haven't played Destiny, but it sucks." - Lemon, less than 10 minutes ago.

You can tell a game is shit from not playing it, or playing it for 5 minutes.

Quote
so I'll just dismiss your list because BB's dick is wedged firmly up my ass"

I didn't dismiss the list because of Metal Gear. I dismissed the list because those games suck.

I don't know what's so hard to understand about this. If Metal Gear didn't exist, I would still think most games suck.

It's honestly gotten soooo much better.

I've heard it's gotten better, but I don't really trust anyone else's opinion on the matter. You'd be the only person I know who has it, so there's no good reason to buy it (especially considering the only reason I somewhat enjoyed myself before was because of James and Brendan fucking around lol).

I finally have other games to play now. I don't need to resort to Destiny anymore. I couldn't say that last year.

I'm not riding MGS's dick, either.

There's two trains of thought here:

1. Most video games suck.
2. I like Metal Gear.

The two are not related at all. I don't like Metal Gear for it's gameplay, either. Same with TLOU.

Not after TDB came out. You left me, alone, in the cold darkness of Destiny by myself.

  • Veganism is ethically superior to any alternative
  • Feminism is necessary
  • It is your moral obligation as a human being to minimise suffering
  • Most video games suck, and good games are becoming more and more infrequently released
  • Drugs with less severe side effects (or behavioural changes) than alcohol/cigarettes should be legalised and highly taxed to help fix economic issues
  • Canada is better than the US
  • Polygamy, given that all parties are consenting adults, should be legal and accepted for both sexes
  • I have nothing to fear if I have nothing to hide

« on: September 19, 2015, 11:34:05 AM »
This was the only logical way I can see them explaining the first two metal gears.

The concept behind Ahab and Ishmael is solid. The execution is awful. I think that's where people's problems arise.

Big Boss was never really a villian to me

You're either an idiot, ignorant or lying.

I thought the same thing until I was reminded of just who BB was in MG1/2.

MGS3 and Peace Walker changed the way I remembered Big Boss... but regardless, he was still a pretty fucking evil person. Especially in MG2.

Quote
just like The Boss we were told she was a traitor--when really it was something different.

The Boss was a traitor. She betrayed Big Boss.

Whatever BB's intentions were in MG2, he was still an evil asshole. He brainwashes his best man (without his consent) to take the heat off of himself while he builds a nation for soldiers on the shoulders of child soldiers.

I mean, Solidus Snake had good intentions. Still evil.

Gaming / Re: So why did people hate the TRUE ending to MGSV?
« on: September 19, 2015, 11:28:27 AM »
Still cut, though. Officially all we have is some text saying it happened.

The fact that it's on the blu-ray disc proves that it's canon. They wouldn't release it if it wasn't.

Gaming / Re: So why did people hate the TRUE ending to MGSV?

Would've been nice to see Big Boss get to the point where he's okay with using child soldiers and endless war. Or if they had finished off what the fuck happened to the Metal Gear and Eli that just left.
Its in the cut ending. You pretty much fight the metal gear again in a Lord of the Flies style mission. And maybe that was the whole thing with Venom Snake who became that 2nd Big Boss and was ok with all of that.

'Cut ending'

Meaning it's not in the game, and thus not confirmed.

The cut ending is canon, though.

Kingdom of the Flies is in the credits timeline.

This is the Metal Gear Solid V discussion page, I hope you don't mind me posting here.

It might get more conversion, I dunno.

Instead they got something that makes a bit more sense in retrospect.

It doesn't, though.

Yeah, it explains ONE detail that fans have been wondering about since the beginning. But it brings up for questions than it does answers.

Also, I don't care for Jahn's, especially when it comes to games. He's a movie critic, and not even a good one. I've seen the video before anyways.

Quote
That explination makes alot of sence to me... Which is why I think the ending is great! Even genius!

Because it's not. It sacrifices narrative complexity and fan desire (which I'm not usually a fan of, but here, it was desperately needed) for some shitty plot-twist. It's not cool or interesting, and in the end, the game that should've been the MOST important game canonically, ends up being the least important.

The game has no message or motive, it's just gameplay with a few cutscenes to justify it. The ending is just a reskin of the first mission with literally no difference, save ending.

Lol you pre ordered the season pass

I obviously didn't know the game was shit at the time.
how shitty can a game be of you have 517 hours played
If he sent 517 hours, he's got a pretty good idea of how the game works. So, if he says it's shit he's entitled to his opinion.

Go back to Waypoint with this bullshit, dude.

I think Tyger's just joshing. He's not usually this dumd.

Keep in mind, my main motive when playing was to get my money's worth out of the Season's Pass. I don't have some 'secret addiction' to the game, I haven't touched it since May.

What the fuck is this thread?

It's a Metal Gear Solid discussion thread.

We don't have enough fans to keep multiple threads alive but we have enough big fans to keep one thread going.

>fight starts
>immediately get to cover and mark her (she won't shoot you if you're up against the wall)
>crawl on the floor to your left
>find an opening between the log and the wall you just used for cover
>shoot her in the face with a sniper rifle
>she loses health, and runs away
>start sprinting to the right
>there'll be a rock you can use for cover if you lie down
>thermals
>find her
>shoot her
>she takes damage, runs away
>sprint, find another place for cover, repeat process

I lean towards Republicans who aren't totally insane (coughTedCruzcough) like Jeb Bush and John Kasich. Rubio is exceptionally strong on foreign policy, though.

So would you say, in general, that you're more of a conservative than liberal? Or is it just in US politics that you feel that way?

I don't find it endearing.
Should try of taking other games for what they are, and not compare them to your favorite.

Should try reading the thread before commenting. I already elaborated on that at length.

So i've got a timeline of how i wanna do things from here on out

tomorrow if i have time i'll finish writing my revengeance review. it won't be the best but i promised I would get it out, and it'll probably just be an impressions kind of thing

sometime during next week i'll replay the phantom pain until i get the real ending, at which point i'll write the review/analysis for that

and then i'll start either my legend of zelda playthrough or my metal gear playthrough
