It would be impossible to engineer the genes to say "once you hit 40, you're going to slowly die", y'know?

Plus Solid Snake looked older than 35 in MGS2.

Did they ever say when it kicked in?

They never specified, no. I assume it was gradual. I mean, how else could you control that?

It's not like genes can tell how old a person is (as far as I know).

His look is off, though. He should look like he's 16 or 17, not 11 or 12.
But he is like 12.

Accelerated aging, nigga.

The more I think about it, the more I think that the Eli boss battle is the best.

I just did it 3 times in a row (because I'm trying to get rid of this stupid permanent blood but lowering my demon score... damn nuke), and each time I had a different fight.

The first time, I approached him like normal.

The second time, I approached his white chair, but he was nowhere to be seen. He sneaks behind me and attacks from the rear.

The third time, he knocks me down from above, shouting "Not yet, Snake! It's not over yet!"

It's too much effort for me to do honestly, and I'm afraid I'll mess something up. Besides yeah, I'm afraid something will mess up via cutscenes or something, and I want that full experience. Once I beat it I'll think about doing it.

Gotcha. No worries.

My review playthrough will be on PC after I finish reading Lord of the Flies, Moby Dick and 1984 (to refresh my memory of it's concepts and understand some of the imagery in the game a bit better), so I'll probably use these mods on that playthrough.

"Outer Heaven" or "Philanthropy" would be the best names tbh.

I'm digging "Philanthropy."

It starts off rocky, but he starts to hit his stride after the the second Ocelot confrontation.

Ehh... still one of his poorer performances, IMO.

I'll just download this now actually. Getting tired of looking at Venom Snakes giant ass horn and ugly eye patch.

Can you let me know if his facial animations are consistent with Venom Snake?

Outer Heaven would be apt.

If/when Private Groups become a thing, we'll hold a vote, I suppose. I have no problems being called "Outer Heaven", though.

That's not the mod I was talking about. Look up MSF Fatigues or something.

I don't have a PC yet. Probably getting one this month, though. Once I do I'm getting TPP and playing as GZ Big Boss.

Hayter always sucked as Big Boss, though. He's always been excellent as Solid Snake.

Good. A company their size would have been batshit insane to go the mobile-gaming route.

Yeah, any Kojima-less MGS sequels would only be so bad at worst, unless Konami just up and drops the ball, because Kojima and the gang have been making the blueprints for a long time now.

Literally anyone can take what TPP had and make it again. For them to fuck up the gameplay in any regard would be the most amateur thing ever.

The story is key. They need someone good.

People think he was the genius behind EVERYTHING but he had a team of writers and artists who probably convinced him to go in different directions, rather than let him have complete control.

For real. The leaning feature in MGS2 was a suggestion from the development team. They had to fill a quota of ideas per week or something. Who knows what else they were responsible for?

Like I said, I'm feeling cautiously optimistic about it. I would be happy with multiple Camp Omega sized maps if they work.

Isn't MGS dead without Kojima?

You'd think so, but I'm of the opinion that it's ultimately a good thing.

If I look at Metal Gear's history, I can see that the only truly "bad" Metal Gear without Kojima's name on it was Snake's Revenge. The other main ones I'm thinking of, Portable Ops and Rising: Revengeance, were both good, or at least, passable in their own right. Portable Ops was very true to it's Metal Gear roots, with it's story feeling very at home in the canon. The problem was the gameplay. The team was assigned to create an entirely new kind of game for a new system (PSP) and was tasked with following up the INCREDIBLE Snake Eater.

If they can somehow get writers that know the lore, and the remnants of the KojiPro team to follow up the open world infiltration of The Phantom Pain, it's possible that we could a true "missing link" in the MG canon.

I mean, it's clear Kojima is one of two things:

  • He's a poor creator incapable of delegating and organising people to meet deadlines
or
  • He's a shit writer.

Either way, he's constantly disrespected the franchise that put him on the map. And while Peace Walker, Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are all great games, they lack the imaginative flare of the original 3. His departure may be a blessing in disguise. And as a fan of his work, I hope he can find a studio where he can make more of what he really wants to -- stuff like Silent Hill.

I will remain cautiously optimistic about the future.

Eh, I haven't been following US politics as much as I'd like to... I know that Trump is ridiculous and Clinton is allegedly corrupt. Sanders is a bad choice, for some reason.

I haven't done any research into their platforms, though.

If someone wants to run down the candidates and their main ideals, that'd be great.
