There's a whole lot to do in TPP. It's the game's strength. I myself have put in over 120 hours and I'm only 70% done. And I'm a Metal Gear veteran.

If you want something satisfying to sink hours of time into, MGSV's your best bet.

Have you played the other games?

I made a whole thread about it and just got laughed at

That's why we need a forum between The Flood and Serious where dank memes and shitposting aren't allowed. It's like, impossible to have a decent conversation here.

but seriously, such a brilliant half hour of television.

And freaking hilarious. I literally laughed out loud when Troy returns from getting pizza, and the apartment is on fire. All he sees is the troll that scares the shit out of him, and he starts to scream.

Oh my god, I have to rewatch it soon.

Community. Season 1 sucked.
It had a few good episodes (Contemporary American Poultry and Modern Warfare were great) but other than that, I agree. S2 is when it really picks up.

The paintball episodes were the fantastic. Directed by the same guys that made The Winter Soldier.

Still, Remedial Chaos Theory is the best episode in the series.

no, you can't change anything

everything that happened to Hitler would happen to you

you wouldn't be you in hitler's body, you'd be literal Hitler

Oh, okay. I'd be a hobo, then.

Die now.

Hitler, obviously. I could stop a lot of WW2, try my best to fix the situation, and then kill myself.

Why not? What position does one need to be in to make these comments?

Oh no, you're one of them.

One of who?

I dunno what connotations the internet has strung together for fans of Digimon.
Not necessarily Digimon fans, the people who compare the two.

I know the Pokemon anime sucks.

But Ive seen like 2 digimon movies and they were awesome. Though the pokemon movies were cool, too..

but triple black dog dares were the highest of the high

when those words were spoken you knew shit was going down

I figured. Triple dog dare was the highest tier for me and my homies, though.

I would never want to be like that. The most I'd go is somewhere between Jensen Ackles and Chris Evans TFA.

He's a guy who's made some pretty impressive gains from a vegan diet, but I think the thing that makes him stand out the most is his aggressive style/attitude, which is pretty uncharacteristic of vegans.

Eh, I don't know about that last bit. Have you met Verbatim? He's not exactly docile, lol.

But as for gains, yeah, it's tough. I used to be able to put on 20lbs in a month, I couldn't even do 5. And I was at the gym 5 days a week for an hour a piece. Just wasn't worth it at that point.

1) Right-click --> view image
2) Take a look at the URL: http://static-4.nexusmods.com/15/mods/1091/images/17-0-1442932930.jpg
3) Look at the filename: 17-0-1442932930.jpg. The first number is the mod's 'number', in this case 17
4) Here's the standard Nexus mod page URL: http://www.nexusmods.com/phantompain/mods/xx/?, where xx is the mod number
5) Substitute xx with the mod number as such: http://www.nexusmods.com/phantompain/mods/17/?

And there you go!

And that's how you apply mods? When I get the PC version I'll be coming to you for help, lol.

If I felt like I should edit that last paragraph to be somewhat comprehensible. Maybe go and make a "What MGSV could've been" screenplay type of deal, too.

I had pretty much the whole story panned out in my mind before the game came out.

Would've been nicer too if Eli hadn't been pissed off at Big Boss before he even met the guy.

They explained it like this: the LET Project is abandoned in 1976(? .... IIRC), with Eli being pretty much disregarded. At that point, he finds out about the whole thing, how he was given the recessive genes (which I assume his child mind associates with "inferior", for whatever reason), and he believes that Big Boss chose him to be the inferior clone. Thus, cursing his fate, as his character description reads.

He then gets transferred to Africa, where he escapes and tries to establish his Kingdom of the Flies. He fails, obviously. Thwarted by Venom Snake (who he believes is his dad). At this point, he's probably been through some TOUGH shit, giving him a somewhat justified viewpoint on life (hint: it sucks). When he's bested by Snake, he's brought back to Motherbase (or, "Outer Heaven", as Snake calls it as they arrive.) With a pat on the back, Eli becomes infuriated at the realisation that Venom Snake doesn't hate him (he really wants Snake to despise him. Kinda like how if you dislike someone and intentionally do something bad to them, you want them to know it was you.) and attempts to steal his knife and stab him.

I mean... it doesn't really do it for me, but that's the canon reason.

Quote
If he had developed his hatred of Big Boss entirely from getting his ass kicked routinely, and figured out after a while that BB was his dad, then I could've appreciated the Eli wanting to prove himself a bit more. Really just seems odd how he inherently knows so much.

I was hoping that, at that point in the story, Venom would already have begun his descent into evil (taking place shortly after the killing of the child soldiers). Eli is capable, but no match for Snake, so he's worried. He idolises Big Boss, so it's no surprise.

Snake arrives, knowing full well that Eli is his son (somehow), and spares him.

Eli worships BB and is always looking to impress him (hence, the games at MB you need to play with him), but after repeatedly "disappointing" Snake, Ahab starts yelling at Eli "You're no son of mine. Your superior brother wouldn't fail me like this." sort of shit, creating the burning desire for Eli to impress his father. This is also where the line "Love? It's hate! He always told me you were superior to me!" in MGS1 comes from (paraphrased).

Eventually, Eli finds out you killed his men, which is where he begins to resent and eventually hate his father (this is also where his distrust of his fellow soldier begins. He realises that he feels like shit because he was so attached to his men, so when he finds out how they died, he figures it's better to not get attached at all, hence his asshole-ey attitude to his FOX-HOUND team in MGS1. It's a coping mechanism, and adds depth to his character.)

The rest of Eli's story remains the same, especially the final scene of Mission 51. Big Boss goes to shoot Eli, but leaves the gun instead. Eli takes this as an insult "you don't even care enough to finish me off", finally pushing him to the brink. He escapes with Mantis.

This is all made up but that's what I thought was going to happen.

I find that doubtful. This isn't the most realistic universe, anyway.

Yeah, you're right. I would've liked a more dynamic Eli, though, and I was maybe hoping that an "older" version of him (in his late teens) could help in that regard.
