Halo lost a lot of its appeal after Bear's Forerunner saga. The terminals in Halo 3 gave just enough details to intrigue us, but left out just enough to keep us wanting more.

Halo 3's terminals are the GOAT.

I dint know what you mean by it being off centered, I have the outer heaven logo and it looks fine

It probably doesn't bother you but it's definitely not perfectly centered.

I gotta get the Outer Heaven logo and complete motherbase.

Don't bother. The way that the emblem creator is setup doesn't allow for the logo to be centered properly. It's too much to the right.

It makes my OCD go crazy.

Did anyone else get a Tarantino-vibe? I dunno what it is. I think it's the eyes/eyebrows.

Cool video, man. It humanises you. You're pretty much what I expected, though.

Ishmael has so much personality, Ahab has... none. Listen to Ishmael in the beginning. He's spouting action movie one-liners like it's nothing. "We gave her a light, she took the short way down." "Nothing like a little digoxin to get ya' back in the game."
I too saw the Super Bunnyhop review

What?
You just said the exact words he said on it, it was a bit of a joke.

Anyway, in terms of the talking thing, I think that's reaching too far. Snake didn't give a lick of words either but he rambles to hell in the sequel and the games after. It was just how games were back then with little to no story.

Snake talked FAR more in Peace Walker and even Ground Zeroes than he did here.

It's a sequel to 3 other games, so there's really no point to this redundant part of your post.

That is NOT what I meant.

I was trying to get you to understand that Halo 4 is ONLY good when compared to it's predecessors. Which weren't good.

So. . .

Quote
Well I guess it's a good fucking thing you're told by The Librarian then, aye?
She literally tells you that he hates Humanity because they were killing Forerunners.

Forgot about that.

Still, he's not nearly fleshed out enough to be considering deep.

Gaming / Re: Halo: Combat Evolved Review

Because it's an FPS. He automatically hates them.

What does that have to do with anything?

Quote
It's a barefaced lie to deny that the gameplay and story don't (significantly) improve even if you don't like Halo.

The storytelling does get marginally better, I will admit.

Still though...I mean, I have to let Kojima take liberties because the Metal Gear universe is fucking weird already, but I find it hard to grasp that a comatose man was hypnotized into being an exact replica of Big Boss.

Oh, I totally agree. I wasn't advocating that the twist was any good. I was simply explaining it.

It fucking hate it.

Quote
Exactly. Venom had zero presence, while Ishmael just carried the hospital mission on his back.

It's just really a shame. I mean, why pay for Kiefer Sutherland (who undoubtedly costs more than any other voice actor at their disposal) and NOT use him? He's amazing in the Ground Zeroes cassette tapes. "What a load of bullshit..."

He has such a perfect voice for the character.

Quote
True...from a lore/story point of view that's pretty cool.

From the game's point of view....it's just a giant "Huh?"

Yeah... again, I fucking hated how it was executed.

Quote
And Mission 43 really was a great mission.  It tugged at me and just made me feel a sense of absolute dread whenever you heard "Staff member has died."

With the Peace Walker theme playing on the cassette player... ugh, so perfect.

Well, it is in his area, more specifically
It's on one of his area's race tracks.

Well, obviously, lol. Every area has a key, so there's bound to be a key in his area.

Character development
An actual plot that makes sense

As a stand-alone game, Halo 4 fails by those standards. Only when comparing it to it's predecessors does it become "good."

Quote
EU acknowledgement ("b-but i have to read books" fuck off, no you don't. pay attention to the game you're playing)

Let's be honest, though. If you didn't know why the Didact hated humanity or who he even was, you were pretty lost and he's a pretty shallow villain.

To deny that is just ridiculous.

Except that Verbatim's rating is completely right by today's standards.

I don't understand what this means.

Quote
But you just implied that in this thread.

Implied what?

Quote
You just told Verb to not give the next Halos a try because you believe they are worse, which Verb doesn't know because he has never really given the campaigns a chance before and then told him to try the "better game".

It's not like Verb is exactly quiet about his dislike of the Halo games. If he didn't like CE, chances are, he won't like the future games.

And knowing Verb's stance on expectations, I put them in a spoiler tag. If he didn't want to set expectations for himself, he wouldn't have read them.

Is it better on the GC? Which one is the definitive version?

DiddyKongRacing

DiddyKong Racing is sick, but I've never beat it.
As a kid I was always afraid of the final boss when he was behind me, it felt like a T-Rex was chasing me with it's shakes coming closer and closer towards me.

Wizpig? Yeah, I never got to face him. I couldn't find the secret key in the damn dragon boss battle sector.
It wasn't in the boss battle sector lol.

Well I meant like, in his "area".

Like how the Octopus has his own area, and then in that area, there's a stage where you enter and race him.

I mean, it would be pretty annoying if I came to your MGS thread and said Metal Gear Solid was an okay game and everything else after it went downhill after it

Well, that's your prerogative. And that's an even less apt comparison than you may think, considering my opinion aligns closely with Verbatim's, and isn't that out-of-place.

Also, let's not pretend I haven't changed since B.net.

odst is fantastic

The only one I can't verify. From what I've heard it's the most... thematic(?) game in the series.

Quote
halo 4 is great

In what sense? Because the story was short and poorly executed, even with a substantial grasp of the extended universe. There were perhaps 3 or 4 scenes where I felt something.

Lovely thing about opinions is that one is not always right.

don't get me started on excelling in CQC

Poorly explained in cassette tapes. He was apparently the best soldier MSF had, and when they brainwashed him to have Jack's memories, I assume he gained a little experience. I like to think of it as a similar concept to Assassin's Creed's "Bleed-through effect", where the user can gain all the knowledge and skill of his ancestor by reliving their past or whatever.

Quote
mannerisms, etc to the point where he can act like BB without anyone suspecting it

I chock it up to him looking a lot like Jack. I mean, if you look like Big Boss, but act just a little bit different from him, no one's going to really suspect anything.

It's something I really enjoyed between the GZ Big Boss and Ahab. Ishmael has so much personality, Ahab has... none. Listen to Ishmael in the beginning. He's spouting action movie one-liners like it's nothing. "We gave her a light, she took the short way down." "Nothing like a little digoxin to get ya' back in the game."

Quote
Is Venom the BB that Snake kills in Metal Gear then, or is it the original BB?

Venom Snake is MG1 Big Boss (notice how he doesn't talk that much?) and Big Boss is MG2 Big Boss (notice how chatty he is?)

Quote
There's obviously plenty of content to make you feel like it's warranted for $60

Ehh... I've put over 150 hours into it and realised that most of what I was doing was just, simply, repetitive. The open-infiltration concept does what it can but at a certain point...

Quote
it just makes certain scenes like Mission 43 feel like a big waste of time.

Agreed. Especially since it was the best mission in the game.
