When you put it in that light, it seems reasonable.

I suppose, if it comforts the individual, then I don't see an issue. Given that it has it's limitations and doesn't amount to serious harm, obviously.

When I was like 6 or 7, yeah.

I remember playing Spider-man 2000 on the N64, and I didn't have a rumble pack. I never saved the game, but the final boss was so terrifying I turned off the console and never beat it. Until a few years later.

Also, I remember being really sad after Jak and Daxter's final boss. The epic music, the epic introduction of light eco... so nostalgic, to be honest.

Oh, and Hero Mode Jak 2's on-rails turret section is figuratively impossible to beat.

In Jak 2, there's a section that's utterly ridiculous because of the checkpoint system. Right after you beat meet Ashelin in the throne room and Vin explains that Praxis plans to crack open the Precursor Stone.

I really enjoy some of his content but I think he has a tendency to make grandiose statements.

EA and Dice are going to ruin this game, I can already feel it.

"Going to"

They already have. The game is done.

IIRC he was banking on the battlefront reboot tanking and everyone hating it. If I indeed am remembering this correctly it would explain his comments in this thread.

Pretty much, but the "Yeah, Star Wars" comment wasn't really meant to emphasise that...

The full game of Destiny.

Once we get the content we were promised it'll probably collectively cost $1000.

Gaming / Re: Destiny now has micro transactions
« on: October 11, 2015, 11:18:34 AM »
It doesn't benefit anyone. It's not like Halo 5 or Mass Effect 3 or Battlefield 4 where microtransaction content is fuelling free dlc in the form of maps and weapons and such.

"Destiny to Introduce Microtransactions and Make Future Content Free" - The Guardian, Tuesday October 6th, 2015

Quote
All the new story content for the next year of Destiny, Bungie’s first new franchise since it launched Halo in 2001, will be free, as the company continues with a major overhaul of the multiplayer online game following its troubled first year.

To make up for the lost revenue from giving away the content for free, Bungie has announced plans to introduce microtransactions to the game for the first time, letting users spend real money to buy cosmetic items such as character gestures and visual changes to their “Sparrow” hover bike in game.

"Destiny's DLC Is Changing Big Time" - Kotaku, October 5th, 2015

Quote
We hear this paid DLC will be limited to cosmetic items like emotes and sparrow skins. And the developers at Bungie will be doling out free story content every few months until next fall.

Rather than sell big expansion packs like they did last year, Bungie is planning on giving out quests and missions for free, sources say. This will likely involve big drops every few months until the fall of 2016 but could also include trickles of smaller stuff throughout the year.

You may remember a marketing slide from earlier this year that discussed a two-year roadmap for Destiny. Turns out that slide is out of date—instead of selling two big packs of downloadable content over the next year, Bungie is going with cosmetic microtransactions and free content.

"Introducing Eververse Trading Company" - Bungie, October 5th, 2015

Quote
We’ve already said that there’s more to discover in The Taken King – and there is – but beyond the content available in the launch window of The Taken King, our goal is to continue creating experiences that will keep the game fresh, fun, and surprising. Today, we wanted to share with you a new element we’re incorporating into Year Two of Destiny.

This coming Tuesday, October 13th, Tess Everis will return to The Tower with a new look, a new storefront, and some new items to sell, courtesy of Eververse Trading Company. Initially, Tess will offer eighteen brand new emotes. Like the trio of emotes offered via The Taken King Collector’s Edition, these emotes are completely optional, and won’t impact the action game in any way.

If you’re not interested in what Tess has to offer, you won’t ever be forced to pluck an item off of her shelf. You’ll still receive updates to the game, and you won’t lose a Crucible encounter or fail to clear a Raid because you didn’t have the right Eververse Trading Company emote equipped.

Our plan is to use these new items to bolster the service provided by our live team for another full year, as they grow and create more robust and engaging events that we’ll announce later this year. It has been, and continues to be, our goal to deliver updates to the game. Going forward, our live team is also looking to grow beyond vital updates and improvements to focus on world events, experiences, and feature requests.

You were saying?

Destiny improves at an exponential rate. The amount that changes in each significant update is fantastic. It's still shit, mind you, but at this rate, it could eventually become what we all thought it would be. Free updates that are paid for by the microtransaction that are 100% cosmetic? I'm wholly okay with that. Activision has a good track record with stuff like this. Unlike any of the publisher of those games listed above.

I like 'em because, when they're done right, it's fantastic. Having the ability to twist and manipulate people's emotions by simply moving the camera around, or reading a line, is amazing. I really respect it.

That being said, the genre is awfully cluttered with shit you don't need to watch for any reason.

I'm really conflicted on V. Before the end of part I thought it was the best game i'd ever played, but that came with the expectation that the second part would expand the scope of the game but also wrap everything up, and then it just ends. It's like I paid $110 just to be blue balled.

First off, welcome. I see you only have 15~ posts, so it's cool of you to drop in.

Secondly, I totally agree. I bought the limited edition that came with the prosthetic arm. Some of the worst money I've spent in awhile.

The gameplay itself is great but I like Metal Gear for it's story. And like you, I was let down. The general consensus here is pretty much the same.

See, I like Dunkey, so I'm just gonna assume it was funny when HE said it, and it's just one of those things where his fans just kinda ran it into the ground. Like Game Grumps memes.

That's a reasonable stance to take.

60fps is objectively best
Knack would have been better if it was 1080/30. Maybe it would have had more than three enemies on screen at one time.

Knack can't get any better. It's hit the quality ceiling.

No, it's transcended the ceiling to the quality attic.

how does second son compare to the first two games

I didn't enjoy the first Infamous ( haven't played the second), but I really enjoyed Second Son.

It's short and has a few other faults, but the platinum was easy to get and I enjoyed doing it. At least, in comparison to almost every PS4 game I've played since.
