This argument is so dumb.

If they want the fanbase to not drop the game and for them to buy their products in the future, they have to follow up.

Obviously not true, given the fact that people said the same shit about Halo 4.

"Man, this game sucks. I'm done with Halo."

Halo 5 trailer comes out.

"Man that shit looks sick! Last chance, 343..."

Let's not pretend Halo isn't going to sell like hotcakes even if H5 sucks.

that the DLC was in development before original launch, and some of the DLC is even outsourced to other companies to make.

If the DLC is being worked on pre-launch, it's cut content. I don't care about your opinion on the matter -- you're wrong.

Everything that is planned to be in the game, should be in the game. DLC is only ever acceptable when it's created after launch.

And say what you want about Destiny's DLC, but the game was meant to be released a year prior than it was. The ONLY reason it wasn't was because of Marty, and such, the game underwent massive reivisions. Most, if not all, of the DLC content before and including TTK was either recycled or reimagined for the revised product.

So you would prefer having to pay for forge.

I am already paying for Forge -- $60.

Quote
You would prefer completely splintering the community?

Sure. I don't care about the community. The best option is still to delay the entire game, but that's not profitable, so it won't happen.

But that's not the point. What I do care about is getting what I pay for. And I'm not with Halo 5.

I'm saying stop being a lil bitch. You have to wait a month to use a secondary feature. Cry me a river. If delaying it means it will work who cares.

I don't give a dusty FUCK about Forge -- I won't even play it.

But it's the fucking principle that matters. I'd rather the whole game be delayed so that what I'm spending my $60 on is there as soon as I buy it.

If you give 343i your money for a full product whilst only getting a fraction of it, that removes the incentive for them to make Forge good. Even if they're delaying it specifically to make it good; if they have your money already, the need to improve forge isn't there. It's cheaper for them to do as little as possible than go all-out.

Shitty practices should be frowned on but this is just nitpicky

"It's Halo so we let it slide."

No. Fuck that. I'm sure the new Forge will be the best its ever been -- butt this is a SHITTY practice that needs to be nipped in the but ASAP. Look how long GTAV took to get their online mode out -- imagine how much quicker it would have been if we only paid $20 for online when it was finished.

I resent the argument that it's nitpicky. Because it isn't. It's a lot less of a problem then EA's $50 Season Pass, but still a problem nonetheless.

Yup. You changed my mind.

I was going to pre-order MGSV for the LE but I cancelled at the last minute because I realised it was stupid. They wouldn't run out.

I know which is preferable - delay it so that it isn't broken, which it would be if it was forced to release before it was ready.

Exactly. The game should've been delayed.

Quote
Enlighten me.

$40 for the game that's ready

$20 when forge is ready.

But they won't do that because they're banking on the fact that people might only play Halo 5 for a few weeks and then bail. Don't be dumd, Lemon.

your original comment, the 2/3 thing. what if someone read that and thought you were actually talking about reality, and then didnt bother to find out just what got cut? you need to speak in whole truths, not half truths.

Ah, okay. Sure, that may have been misleading.

But you cannot deny that Forge is one of the biggest parts of Halo. Top 5.

12952
Gaming / Re: EA Announces Star Wars Battlefront Season's Pass ~ $50
« on: October 12, 2015, 06:51:37 PM »
Besides the fact that there's a lot of pressure on 343 to pull through on Halo 5, and Halo 5 being the game that could make or break the franchise at this point.

Lol.

By the time Forge comes out, the "verdict" on the future of Halo will already be decided.

Quote
But sure. No incentive.

Yeah, there isn't one.

Just like there's no incentive for developer to pull-through on DLC when you've already bought the Season's Pass.

Quote
If they had no incentive to make it good, they wouldn't have delayed it for 6 weeks to get it ready.

That's just... wanting to make a good game. Do we really have to pat these devs on the back when they do what they're supposed to?

The game is releasing pretty early for a Halo game so I don't know why they'd do that if they're not ready, also.

Quote
Because 343 didn't even develop the MCC, and because it was a complete mess, and had only a small team dedicated to pushing updates and fixes, whilst the core 343 team was already balls deep in development for Halo 5.

They flat-out said in an update that they were "putting every able body on fixing the MCC".

"Except for the majority of our team that's already balls-deep in development of our next cash cow."

Either way, they knew that MCC wouldn't be working on release and said "Fuck it" anyways. Because Halo 5 is more important.

The fact that you could LITERALLY pre-order Halo 5 BEFORE MCC speaks volumes.

Gaming / Re: EA Announces Star Wars Battlefront Season's Pass ~ $50

the mileage in that regard varies wildly from user to user. so the fractional content argument is nonsensical and frankly irrelevant. (what % of the playerbase spends a notable chunk of time in forge anyway? id bet its not a big number.)

Again, that doesn't really matter, though. I was simply making a point -- the game is incomplete.

Quote
for what its worth, im not supporting anything. i was gonna wait until the forge update to see whether or not it was worth anyway.

Thank you.

Quote
but speaking in hyperbole isnt a good way to form a potent argument, and it can serve to mislead others who arent quite mindful enough to research for themselves just what kind of content was cut/what they can expect on release.

What do you mean?

Gaming / Re: EA Announces Star Wars Battlefront Season's Pass ~ $50
« on: October 12, 2015, 06:42:48 PM »
It doesn't matter what you think if it isn't true.

What a stupid point of contention. That doesn't matter, you're missing the point. The full game isn't included.

I only explained where I was coming from. It's not relevant to my point AT ALL.

Quote
Campaign, customs, arena, Warzone and Forge are all separate modes.

So are Campaign, Theatre, Firefight, Customs, Matchmaking, Forge. I was shortening the list to the main 3.

Quote
It's not like they're cutting Forge. They're delaying it for a completely valid reason.

Sure, while still making you pay full-price.

Giving them money ahead of the content is as bad as buying a season's pass. Don't be stupid, it's the exact same thing.

12955
Gaming / Re: Opinions on BBDobbinsFTW

The reason it was pushed is so they can put the effort in to completely finish it, you berk.

Yeah, obviously.

Quote
It was either release it broken or delay it for a month.

And you can't seriously understand which one of those is preferable?

There's a third option too but the developers won't exercise that because "fuck you, give me money".

12956
Gaming / Re: Opinions on BBDobbinsFTW
« on: October 12, 2015, 06:38:11 PM »
The entire reason Forge isn't out on launch is because they're putting effort into it. The only other option is a delay, and there's no point in that.

Uh, there is a point in that, though.

If the game isn't ready, don't fucking release. End of story. How many MCC cases do we need to have before people get this?

You paying for full-price for an incomplete game is a bad practice. Either delay it or lower the price.

thats not 1/3 of the game content though. its a map editor. the series' most comprehensive map editor, yes, but a map editor nonetheless. saying 1/3 of the game was cut because forge will release in a free patch around xmas is a misrepresentation of reality

It is 1/3 of the game. Or, 4/5, as lemon said.

The point is, it's not the full game. Supporting this shit is bad.

Halo 5 has free dlc and 1 gamemode only microtransactions bitches
Charging $60 for 2/3 of a game.
how do you figure its 2/3?

Because forge won't be available until December.

Not that it's a bad thing.

You still get forge for free so I have no clue how it can be considered 2/3 of the game. It will probably be an update that unlocks forge for Christmas.

Because it removes incentive to make it good.

If 343i already has your money, then why would they need to put effort into forge? it's cheaper not to.

Why do you think the MCC was broken for so long? They already had your money.

Halo 5 is no saint either. Charging $60 for 2/3 of a game.

I do prefer their business model, though.
*4/5

Campaign
Arena
Warzone
Customs

Whatever. I think of it like this: Campaign, Multiplayer and Forge.

Still not the full game.
