Gaming / Re: EA Announces Star Wars Battlefront Season's Pass ~ $50« on: October 13, 2015, 09:47:02 AM »
I would rather the game cost more. It's more honest, and makes people question whether they should buy the game or not. In Battlefront's case, they shouldn't. Because it's obviously rushed and unfinished.
... Actually I'd rather the game's content be priced reasonably, and Battlefront simply isn't. It's probably not worth $90. But a game like TW3, that's packed with content? Yeah, that being $90 seems good with me. The thing is, the devs provide 15 free DLC packs for the player. If more developers practiced this, we'd have a better gaming atmosphere then we have now. I will say that if the DLC content isn't finished, it's okay to charge for it later. But a season's pass is unethical because you're paying for content you don't get when you buy it. It's worse than the "Halo 5 not shipping with forge" debacle. As for the "positive reinforcement" (lol) shit... If no one complained and only voted with their wallets, the publishers wouldn't know what people were upset about. "Whining" is necessary. Other AAA companies may do this. My point is that we shouldn't accept it at all, from anyone. Be honest and reasonable with your game's prices. A lot of people doing a shitty thing doesn't make it okay. And it's not like these publishers are infantile chidren that need to be coddled when they do something wrong. Positively reinforcing a good thing is a good idea, and I'm sure developers appreciate it, but it is asbolutely optional. We NEED to complain about shit we don't like if we expect change. Simply saying "Nice work on the free DLC" isn't going to fix the game's lack of story mode or Galactic Conquest. Your shilling looks more genuine with each passing comment, tbh. 12904
Gaming / Re: EA Announces Star Wars Battlefront Season's Pass ~ $50« on: October 13, 2015, 08:58:33 AM »Good practices should be commended regardless of how many bad practices are present. It's the only way to reinforce positive change. Bad practices are more important than good practices because they are an inherently bigger issue. Companies don't have to do good things like free DLC, but they shouldn't take advantage of the consumer. There's a clear difference here. Quote So you think that any major company/publisher/business online is even remotely receptive to whining anymore? Yes. Quote They care about FTFY And the only way to get our point across is via our wallets and complaining. Quote If you are confronted with a thousand posts by random users bitching about anything and everything are you inclined to actually read that? If your job depends on the sale of your game, you bet your ass they're going to find out why people are upset. It doesn't take reading through 1000 posts to understand why people are outraged by things. When people are upset, they complain loudly. Quote The positive one or the nine hundred and ninety nine shitposts? If those 999 shitposts are all complaining about the same thing, any normal person is obviously going to remember that majority's opinion. Quote Whining at EA won't make a blind bit of difference at this point, they are trying to improve some of their practices and people could at least give them credit for it. I am giving them credit for. See? "Good job on the free DLC, EA." .. "Now fuck off with these shitty business practices." And I'm not whining at EA. I'm trying to "convert" (not the proper word but w/e) the people here to see the way I do. It's just like when I was trying to make people understand why the Street Fighter character's oversexualisation was wrong. Quote Or if it's not metal gear enough, then why bother complaining about a company you don't care for at all? Literally what? Just because it's not Metal Gear, I don't care about it? However true that may be (there is very little truth to it), that's irrelevant. Just because an issue doesn't affect me doesn't mean I shouldn't apose it. And for what it's worth, I don't consider EA to be the worst company in America, or even the worst AAA publisher. At least they're doing free DLC. Activision wouldn't touch that with a 10-foot pole. Again, your shilling for EA -- genuine or not -- is clouding your judgement here. The idea that "Well, they're doing good stuff too, so... free pass." is toxic. 12905
Gaming / Re: EA Announces Star Wars Battlefront Season's Pass ~ $50« on: October 13, 2015, 07:15:05 AM »I get that EA is unpopular but people could at least cut them some slack for the good things they do rather than just shitting all over them like they are the worst company in America. Uhh. No. Shitty practices should be criticised regardless of how many good practices are present. It's the only way we'll get Real Changetm. Can't help but feel that you're slightly biased, Psy. 12906

Gaming / Re: Metal Gear Solid Discussion Thread« on: October 13, 2015, 07:08:43 AM »At least Peace Walker had some level of significance in the overall plot of the Snakes. MGSV is probably the least important MGS game to date (in that you can not play it and you won't be lost in the others.)V may as well be filler for all it accomplished, but PW really has no need to exist. The end of Snake Eater sets up every motive needed to result in the later games happening, Naked snake begins his decent into becoming Big Boss and all the technical details about the patriots and foxhound and LET and all the rest fit in with this timeline. PW is just snake chasing robots that are never refereed to anywhere, building a base and army that isn't refereed to anywhere else but V (which doesn't count since that's the point of V), and killing the boss again. The whole point of PW was to correct PO, though. 12908

I agree.
I mean, I've said it before and I'll say it again: if Kojima couldn't make a better game with 7 years, $80M, and the most powerful engine in the industry, he's either a) incompetent, or b) terrible at management, in which case he should return to directing instead of producing. 12914

Gaming / Re: Opinions on BBDobbinsFTW« on: October 13, 2015, 12:57:16 AM »Way more than a few assets. Saturn for example looks way different and again. Saturn was never revealed IIRC. Quote When they showed Vestian Outpost in the reveal it likely served and entirely different purpose. Conjecture. It's less of a stretch to say it didn't serve an entirely different purpose. Quote Now. As I was saying about DLC. You're not getting what I'm saying. I am. But what you're saying is stupid. Quote If they start working on DLC before launch. It wasn't supposed to be part of the game. Quote By all means squeeze as much in as you can. If they're working on DLC before launch, they can squeeze it in. Quote Why would you wait until your game launches to make new content? No one is "waiting" -- they're finishing their fucking game. Quote But when you're done you don't sit on your butt for a month working on patches t fix bugs. There's a fucking difference between developing content once your game goes gold and working on DLC months beforehand to the point where a Season's Pass can be announced. I thought you were smarter than this but I guess not. 12919

If the developers planned to include it, and it's not in the game, it's cut. Quote And at a certain point you can't really add anymore to a game. You have to stop and send it off to be finished. Yeah, when the game is fucking finished. Quote AIt's obvious they reworked it, or as you said. Reimagined it. But they didn't cut it t sell to you. They sure did. It was meant to be included in the base game. If you wanna like Destiny, that's fine. But don't put out your argument like you're some "enlightened" industry insider. Quote Like go look at the Vestian Outpost in that reveal video. Completely different. Same thing as The Citadel. Completely changed after the HoW update. I'm sure it took them 6 months to change a few assets and walkways. Quote And Prehistoric. Maybe you should quit being paranoid and take off the tin foil. LMAO How am I being paranoid? Cynical? Pessimistic? Negative? Sure. But paranoid? Fuck no. And these developers have given me NO good reason to think otherwise. 12923

Gaming / Re: Opinions on BBDobbinsFTW« on: October 12, 2015, 11:00:26 PM »Woah dude. Content was most certainly cut from Destiny and then reworked into DLC. Shit from as far as The Taken King was there before release. You could see Saturn, the Citadel and the Vestian Outpost in the development videos, playable a year before release, Kings Watch and Seraphim Vault were accessible in the Alpha. The Dreadnaught was in some of the earliest concept art. And let's not forget about Old Chicago. Something tells me we will be seeing that sooner or later too. He's a corporate shill that doesn't want to feel guilty for enjoying Destiny. You're not going to get through to him 12929
Gaming / Re: EA Announces Star Wars Battlefront Season's Pass ~ $50« on: October 12, 2015, 10:58:26 PM »If you don't want to pay more for a game than you did more than ten years ago, companies need to start ensuring a return on investment in other ways. I'd rather just pay for what the game is worth. If Battlefront has enough quality content to justify a $110 price point, I would gladly pay that much for it. (Actually I probably wouldn't because I'm not the biggest fan of Star Wars but whatever, I'm making a point.) The insulting thing, to me, is that this content is likely done and overpriced. Is it too much to ask for some common fucking decency between publishers and consumers? 12930
Gaming / Re: Opinions on BBDobbinsFTW« on: October 12, 2015, 10:52:29 PM »Or better yet delay the game to ship it with a working Forge mode so he can still make a 40 minute long sermon about how the delay makes 343 an incompitent team and that because a couple of pixels on the inside a random forge piece are discolored that it means Halo 5 is dead and 343 have destroyed Halo because of it. I don't care about Halo -- that alone makes me public enemy number to you fanboys. If 343i delayed the game, I would seemingly have nothing to complain about given that I approve of everything else they're doing.
