Man, you really don't like Joe, lol.

I'll give it some thought. Go back and watch a few videos more closesly.

He's like the Nostalgia Critic of gaming.

My only gripe with Nostalgia Critic is his annoying-ass voice. I don't really care for their gimmicks -- I just care about their opinions.

I don't want to live in a world where Angry Joe is the top youtube gaming "critic" because the guy who is actually competent, intelligent, and able to produce worthwhile lectures on the state of the industry as well as give inside looks as to how it works died of liver cancer.

What's wrong with Joe, though?

His rants aren't great but his reviews are quite good, IMO.

Remind me why again?

-half the region is monotonous surfing
-uninspired Pokémon designs
-oversaturation of the Dragon-type
-over-saturation of Legendaries (more than twice the previous games IIRC)
-huge step back in terms of content from the previous games
-boring story
-the worst rival (they get worse from here)

In a nutshell.

I think DPP did a lot of what RSE tried to do better, despite having it's own flaws.

Dragonite is has always been my favourite. He's gentle yet extremely powerful, can serve a specific role on any team, and just looks fucking awesome. I remember seeing him for the first time in Silver and I was infatuated instantly.

It would be unfair to judge that statement without the context in which it was used.

How the hell are you people arguing about this LOL

Exercise is good and important. Bodybuilding is stupid. End of discussion.

I don't think anyone argues against this. Just the concept that weights is like, the only way you can do exercise. I mean, I just do a lot of walking and don't eat crap and I'm neither over or under weight. I'm at a happy medium where I don't change.
have you been reading prehistorics posts?

So that's who ra is. Huh.

Trudeau. I'm probably more aligned with NDP, but from what I remember they fucked everything up when they were elected in my province a few years ago.

Yeah, Canada's never forgiven them for that. I dunno how much of it was really their fault, though.

What I find interesting about Trudeau's platform is the idea that he's trying to "outsocialise" the socialists (NDP). Should be interesting.

Because I'm not insecure about how I look. Making yourself better looking is the only "rational" (use that VERY loosely) reason to do it, and I don't care about that.

I don't see the issue. I answered the OP's question.

Lifting weights is primarily used to increase muscle mass and strength, both of which have nothing to do with your health.

health
helTH
noun
the state of being free from illness or injury.
"he was restored to health"

Again, I don't give a shit about health, and no one else does. People don't lift to be healthy -- they do it to look good.

Quote
See, in these cases, you're letting your personal biases affect your ability to objectively judge the situation. Your feelings override fact and you speak as though these things are true, when the reality is that they aren't.

Everything I've said is 100% true.

Most people don't care about health in relation to lifting weights -- check
being able to bench press 240 isn't going to affect your ability to fight off a cold in any way that simply eating well won't -- check
most people who weight lift are insecure about their looks -- check

Quote
seem to be relying solely on your own offhand knowledge.

Uhh, yeah. That's exactly what I'm doing. This is a conversation about my opinion. I don't know a better place to get empirical data regarding my opinion besides MYSELF.

Like, if you wanna make the argument that weightlifting is healthy, fine. I'm not going to contest that. But I'm arguing that
a) no one weight lifts to be healthy
and
b) caring about health is stupid

ill just drop off some information, in that case.
http://www.mayoclinic.org/healthy-lifestyle/fitness/in-depth/strength-training/art-20046670
http://www.betterhealth.vic.gov.au/bhcv2/bhcarticles.nsf/pages/Resistance_training_the_health_benefits?open

Except I and the OP don't care about health benefits, and if you were really concerned with being healthy, "lifting" would not be the most important thing on your list. He only lifts because he wants to look good, and it being "healthy" is a bonus. If it wasn't healthy to work out, people would still do it.

Quote
I replied to you here because you've been saying some genuinely disturbing, incorrect things about health+fitness.

LOL, where.

Quote
We have a young, impressionable userbase. How are they supposed to know the difference between fact and unsubstantiated bullshit if people don't call the bullshit out?

You've posted nothing to call out bullshit. Most people only work out to look good; to improve how they look. They're insecure -- I'm not. I answered the question.

You've posted some bullshit, though. How, for some reason, we can't say "working out is stupid" because we... don't work out? Or we say that to cover up for being lazy? Brilliant generalisation, mate.

i think you have entirely missed the point here. youre focusing so much on the mental aspect of why people lift weights that youre willfully ignoring all the positive aspects of weight training.

No, I'm not. I'm saying the positive aspects of weight training don't matter -- they're not worth it.

And as long as we're being honest, the vast majority of "weight lifters" do not do it for health benefits. I should know, I used to be one.

Quote
its clear that youre a bit flustered

Nah, you just seem to have some personal vendetta against me. Either that or you're just naturally a cunt to people who've done nothing to you.

The Flood / Re: Why don't you lift weights?
« on: October 16, 2015, 02:45:25 PM »
wait lol you seriously think maintaining physical endurance and muscle training isnt part of being healthy?

No, obviously not. To the point where you lift to increase your muscle mass (which is what lifting is PRIMARILY used for) doesn't matter.

Quote
ill take "obvious facts" for $500, alex. muscle training may take a lower priority than proper nutrition, but that doesnt mean it isnt deeply involved with your health. besides, many resistance/endurance training methods also improve your cardiovascular health.

If you're lifting with the intention of improving muscle mass, you're not doing it right to the point where health is your priority, like running or eating well.

Calm the fuck down in both our conversations, bro.

I lift for myself. I lift so that I can look good naked, and I don't intend to ever get into sexy times.

If you lift to look good, without lifting, you don't look good. You are not okay with your base level of attractiveness. Which makes you insecure.

Weight training also improves your physical endurance and generally makes you healthier..

Lifting weights is primarily used to increase muscle mass and strength, both of which have nothing to do with your health. Cardio and diet are far more important.

Also, I don't give a shit about my health, either.

Then you're happy looking bad, and that's not a good thing.
No. I'm naturally good looking without working out.

Quote
Why the fuck would we feel insecure about anything if it didn't do us humans any good?

Where's the good in working out? To quote SecondClass, "Ooh, you can lift stuff better." I don't give a shit about that.
