I hope you don't mind if I quote you multiple times. It's the easiest way to counter specific arguments.

12752
Oh boy.

Let me get to a computer and I'll get back to you.

But I was asking if she/he was voting Republican or not, to clarify.
P sure icy is liberal as they come.

I swear she/he made a thread bashing the Democrat party.

Oh well.

Are Canadian Conservatives analogue to American liberals?

Conservatives are Republicans, just less extreme.

So... yeah. Probably.

12758
I support the death penalty as long as

1) it's painless and humane
2) it isn't aeen as a punishment, only a means to solve a problem (I.E. serial killer unable to rejoin society)

I would also like to say that rapists and murderers should be killed but those cases are hardly ever cut-and-dry so there needs to be nuance.

Bout time.

Go Canada

Aren't you Conservative?

12760
Additionally, if a party lost by one vote, they'd just request a redo. Human error and such.

12761

There's really not much I can say that I haven't already to your position of voting. I'm an advocate for change, you don't believe there is any way to achieve that.

As for the refugees,  I disagree. These people are living in hell and it is our obligation as a country to help in any capacity. Think if the roles were reversed. Not only that, but logistically speaking, Canada needs to bring in, at least, 200K immigrants every year to combat population decline and sustain the economy. We would literally implode without them.

Aren't you like, 18? How does this effect you to the point of "FML"? Oh noes, your taxes will be lower and your tuition will be less.

Seriously though, if you supported Harper, get hit by a bus.

Serious / Re: Why do we allow a two party system in the US?
« on: October 20, 2015, 01:44:05 AM »
Because it costs like $200,000 for 4 minutes of speaking time or something and the smaller parties can't afford that.

That's what I've read, at least.

Men. I feel like most women sound (and coincidentally, act) the same way with minor variations. Something to do with less pressure to be an individual or w/e.

Spoiler alert: existence in any time period would suck

It also strikes me as odd that you claim to care very little for politics yet have actively engaged in discussion with me twice in the last week regarding them.

But that's none of my business.

12767

I think you make an interesting point. That our flawed and broken system is the best we can do. I simply find your position to be that of a defeatist. And I could never be like that. Yes, the human condition is digustingly fucked up. But sitting around and saying, "Fuck it, it doesn't matter, we're not really changing anything" is not an option for me. I'm not saying you can't or shouldn't be like that, though. (But I must say that I think complaining about something without actively trying to change it is silly).

There are certain things that I think need to be changed in Canada, and the liberal government appears to be endorsing most of those ideals. Things like the legalisation of marijuana, fewer tax breaks for the rich, more Syrian refugees, the revision of C-51, etc.

Currently, voting is the primary method in which I can improve the situation -- and you can bet your ass I'm going to follow through.

White Batman.

Oh. Probably not, no. He could hold his own in terms of technique but doesn't hold a candle to Raiden's near-immortal status.

12770
Haha. Cute. No. Never made it to college. Sports were never my thing.

I was making a joke about how you were spouting pretty much the same thing a character in Metal Gear does about politicians.

Quote
As for the son of a PM thing. Your point? He's the son of an ex Prime Minister. Okay. So that's a first in our history. And nothing more.

I mean, I think it's kind of cool but w/e.

Quote
Does it mean he'll do a good job? No.

You can't do much worse than Harper, though.

Quote
If anything phenominal happens, then sure, woo, good job and congratulations on scoring a governmental leader not made of ass and bullshit.

So what, in your opinion, would constitute "something phenomenal"?

Canadian politicians are much less cartooney than Americans, and most of the time are pretty straight-forward on their goals. I don't like Harper but at least you know what he wants and why -- he's open about his beliefs. As for the other candidates, I don't feel as though any of them have a hidden agenda like I do with Clinton or Trump.

12771
I suppose he was ready!

Nice hair, though.

12772
Lol what history.

Say whatever you like about the man, but never in Canadian history has the son of a Prime Minister been elected.

Quote
It's politics. People in suits with old timey theatre masks on. I expect nothing different to come of this. There might be a few uppity bumps here or there with little bits of change thrown in.

But come the fuck on, let's not get excited here. Nothing miraculous will come from this.

Always disliked elections. Especially when fucking people get all uppity like their PM is the second coming of christ and the streets are now made of gold.

Give me a break.

Did you play College ball or something?

Hm. Could White Batman beat MGS4 or MGR Raiden if he had his powers?

White Batman...? As in, White Lantern Corp.?

You make me sad, Sandtrap. Be glad you lived through history in the making, at the very least.

Whichever makes a more interesting fight.

Moon Knight w/ powers > Cyborg Ninja > Frank Jaeger (MG2:SS) > Moon Knight w/ out powers

12776
Link for the foreigners who aren't following Canadian stuff.

I have to say, I did not see this coming. I thought Canada would end up with a minority government (which Trudeau would win with Harper stepping down), but damn. They pulled it off. Guess marijuana is gunna be legal now.

Will be interesting to see how he works with the new President in 2016. I can see him getting along well with Sanders, considering Trudeau was "out-socialising the socialists (NDP)" this time. Harper didn't really work well with Obama IIRC so it'll be a welcome change, I reckon.

Ra has a Moon Knight avatar. Let's commemorate this by asking ourselves who would win in a fight between Moon Knight and Gray Fox.

Depends. We talking meta-Moon Knight with Konshu powers? Or just regular Spector?

I thought the same thing at first. "What's the point? I've always been fine with one monitor."

You really don't understand the appeal until you get used to it. It's amazing.
