The Flood / Re: TFA - Biggest opening weekend ever

Pretty sure no one actually says "TFA" out loud. Just like no one says "RoTJ" out loud.

We call it "Episode 7" or "The Force Awakens".

TFA is fine in a non-verbal context.

You'll grow out of this phase.

What "phase"?

And aren't you one of the younger users here?

You realize the way you've been sperging out eclipses all of the shit that's been going on with deci, right?

Awesome. Maybe people will understand what I'm trying to get across if it's sits in the limelight for a bit.

NO THANK YOU.

When characters die, they need to stay dead.

You're mixing up fiction with money, drugs, and hedonistic pleasure. If fiction could still make life better, I'd still believe in God and an afterlife.

Fiction = escapism. Fiction includes video games, movies, books, television... Drugs could also be a form of escapism, but without the grace and creative prowess that fiction offers.

It's quite funny how the only way to truly enjoy life is to escape it. Says something about the experience as a whole.

Do you know anyone else who is as much a stickler for rules as Verbatim? The man's a boyscout for crying out loud. Pair that with his activity on all forums, and he's a prime candidate.

I don't really care that Ep. 7 was spoiled for me. I just hate that it happened to other people as well.

Are you 14

No, I just despise spoilers with a burning fucking passion.

Fiction of any kind is the only thing that makes the world tolerable. When someone ruins that for anyone, I'm bound to lose my shit.

God man, get on some Xanax, 4Chan spoiled the movie for me a week before it came out and I didn't flip my shit.

I don't care about what happened to you.

Well maybe you're just not as knowledgeable as I am on many a thing...

Ugh.

Seriously though, you can find a reason to bitch over something literally no one else cares about, and just assume and then go "BUT IM SAYING SOMETHING ELSE >:C", so have at it.[/spoiler]

So because "no one else cares about it" (which is false, I'm sure many people share at least some of my opinion regarding Han's death and Harrison's feelings toward the character), it somehow makes it unimportant or wrong? Okay.

I haven't assumed anything this entire time. I said it was a shitty thing for Ford to do, IF HE DID IT, and you guys replied with assumptions. That's it.

So in the end you're just basically getting upset over an actor without having any backstory, reasons, or even any sense of the real answer behind it.

"Kind of a shitty thing for Ford to do, to be honest."

DAMN, I'M SO UPSET.

Seriously, fuck off with this shit. It would be great if people just took my words at face value instead of assuming the meaning behind them.

And to that point, just because a character wants to die, it doesn't mean they're sick of their role.

IF J.J. and his team of writers decided that Han needed to stay alive, and that that was the best decision for the future of Star Wars, then Ford needs to suck it up and do the movies no matter what he thinks. He's an actor, not a writer.

I never commented on why Harrison wanted Han to die, because it doesn't have any relevance to the point I'm trying to make. Stop assuming shit.

Quote
You ever consider some characters are more powerful because of HOW they die?

NOPE. I'VE NEVER ONCE CONSIDERED THIS. IT'S A COMPLETELY ALIEN CONCEPT TO ME.

DEATH... HAS MEANING?! WHO KNEW?!

I seriously fucking hate your condescending rhetorical questions.

Quote
Stop looking at it so black and white and making Ford out to be some money grubbing evil guy.

I did the exact opposite of that, actually. I implied he didn't care about the money.

Okay? You act like I don't already know that.

And he's given to the fans.

"I don't want to do anymore Star Wars movies, make sure I die in the next one."

"But Harrison, that goes against everything we've plann-"

"I. Want. To die."

I mean, all of this is irrelevant if JJ had decided to kill Han in Ep. 7 from the get-go. But I just don't feel like that was the plan.
Was it not? Didn't Ford state he wanted to die in the movie?

Yeah he did, but that doesn't mean JJ had planned to have Harrison die anyways. He could've shown him the script and Ford was like "Nah, I wanna die."

If that's the case, he's a cunt. If the script was unaltered, then I have no qualms with anyone. I'll just choose to criticise Abrams for the handling of his death.

Ford owes nothing to Abrams

Are you going to say anything of relevance in this entire conversation?

He doesn't owe the director anything. He owes the fans everything.

Also, can we talk about the music for a moment? And how crappy it was?

The trailers had way more badass music than the movie. Nothing new felt any good here.

Ford wanted Han to die because he thought it would add some real emotional punch to the climax of the trilogy, and didn't see a way for Solo to be written in future installments.

Han should've died in RotJ, yes. But he didn't, and here we are were.

Quote
Though I think as much as it sucks, Solo had to die. Because Ren can't complete his turn to the Dark Side if he's conflicted about his father, so killing him was the only way. Solo's death was vital to Kylo Ren's story arc, and Solo died trying to redeem his son.

Sure, he had to die eventually. But it felt rushed the way they did it. Han should've been given more screen time or something, I don't know. It felt way too quick for me.

As one of the main characters in the biggest franchise of all time, you have an obligation to your fans to follow through on what the director thinks is the best plan for the universe. They're the ones that made you a shit ton of money. They're the ones that cherish you. You owe it to them.

Because you don't feel like making another movie (whilst getting paid more money than some people make in their life) is not proper justification to change JJ's plans.

I'm not saying he can't do what he wants, I'm saying it's a dick move to make the director change the story because he doesn't feel like getting paid even more money than before.

It would be one thing if it was all a part of the plan from the get-go. But I doubt that was the case for the reasons I stated earlier.
