No, but again, I obviously meant what we all have come to know as "internet atheism" when I referred to atheism earlier.

Well, fuck you too.

Just because you have all of these idiots who put down "I don't believe in God, but I don't identify as an atheist". It skews the poll results. If you don't believe in god, you're an atheist. It doesn't fucking matter what you "identify" as.

But that has nothing to do with anything, because when I say "Atheism is popular in communities like these", I'm very clearly talking about a different philosophy than "Yeah, I don't believe God exists but I'm not sure."

Identifying as an atheist =/= being an atheist

You can't seriously expect me to believe that 97.6% of Americans believe in god.

He's right, Azu. We're expecting too much of SecondClass to believe that empirical evidence is true.

:/

I already said earlier in this thread that I'm 17.

Not that that has anything to do with anything.

The initial argument here was that atheism is some borderline belief that only exists on the Internet.

Try reading next time.

All these mental gymnastics just to keep believing that atheism is some fringe belief. Keep deluding yourself.

LOL

You're just too much.

Old enough to know what death looks like.

I don't really care what you buy into. That sauce doesn't differentiate between agnostic and atheist, so it is an irrelevant statistic.

It's actually 16% worldwide. And yes, when you consider that Christianity is only 33%, that is very popular.

"Non-religious" doesn't count.

I want straight-up "atheist".

All talk of different stats, no sauce.

And none of these numbers constitute "popular", IMO.
Edited with a source. Not interested in arguing, just throwing out references.

Thanks.

No really, like go out and socialize with people or something. No one really cares.

O.K., LC.

Or you're just paranoid.

Or you're just in denial.

You're giving people too much credit.

Atheism is popular in communities like ours. Is it popular?
Atheism is very popular in real life.

Less than 1% of people in the world, I reckon.

Less than 15% in the West, I reckon.
lolno, you're way off

14% in the world, 22% in America. Which, when you consider it, is a fairly large number.

Sauce?

Anyways, I wouldn't really say that's "popular".

to be honest, i wouldnt want to associate with someone who thinks like that and avoids people simply because they like a certain artistic medium. good riddance.

He was a shitty user anyways.

IRL the vast majority of people don't care if you like anime. What's going to matter to people is what kind of person you are.

They're still going to think it's weird. I'm not saying they'll avoid you or something like that.

It's like when I say that I like Pokémon -- no one really cares, but most people think "You're 17, you shouldn't be playing Pokemon. It's weird."

I mean that the market for it in the West is huge. Were you unaware of the huge fan following that Japanese pop culture has online and in Western nations?

That doesn't make it popular.

Something being popular in circles like our doesn't make it popular.

Atheism is popular in communities like ours. Is it popular?

Poe and Finn established a believable friendship in about 2 minutes that Obi Wan and Anakin couldn't do in 3 movies

I, too, have seen Jeremy Jahns' review.

Poe was pretty good, yeah.

You do realize that anime is extremely popular, right?

For who?

The only people I "know" who enjoy anime are on this site.

I mean, you're going to need to define popular for me.

iPhones are popular. Star Wars is popular.

Anime is not popular.

To be honest, seeing the arguments and fighting some of our users do on a daily basis is gonna deter more people than mods having anime avatars.

I agree.
