Your avatar makes me laugh internally for some reason. Ure just looks ridiculous.

You should be fine. If anyone gives you any flak just say your dad has cancer or something.

Insurance mandate e.g. Obamacare,

So, do you like Obamacare, or...?

or a hybrid system in which the government provides a minimum level of insurance via tax money and individuals are responsible for any other insurance they want or need. Universal healthcare doesn't mean socialized medicine, it just means everyone has healthcare.

That makes some sense to me, yeah. I guess it would depend on what the "minimum level" of insurance would include.

If you could ban one character from Sm4sh tournaments, who would it be, and why?

Rosalina probably. Everyone seems to hate her so why not.

Fox would be my first choice were this Melee, though.

but the main focus would be completely overhauling how insurance works in the U.S. to prevent inflation of prices and abuse of the system.

Like you said earlier, about how Hospitals charge what the insurance companies will pay?

I think universal healthcare can be achieved without it. [Single-payer system]

How?

Canada's system works fairly well, but their healthcare system is still worringly inefficient.

In what way? I mean, I agree that it has its flaws (personally, I don't think my tax dollars should be spent on the treatment of someone with cancer who got it from smoking cigarettes or eating meat, because they made that stupid decision for themselves and my money could be more beneficial elsewhere), I'm just interested to hear what an "outsider" thinks.

Canada's system isn't perfect, but Bernie's is the equivalent of looking at a burning house and telling the fire department to ignore it because he'll just make rich people buy a new one.

So, how would you go about implementing his ideals? It's clear that free healthcare is on his to-do list -- what would be the easiest/most feasible/realistic way of achieving this? Or is his current plan exactly that?

Taking into account provincial tax rates are typically much higher than in the U.S. I was just talking about Federal.

The average Canadian and American workers actually pay the same amount in income tax (chart source below), though through various other taxes (such as some of your insane sales taxes) Canadians on average give about 42% of their income in tax.

Spoiler

Out of the two systems (Bernie's vs. Canada's), which one would be more preferable/feasible, in your opinion?

Nope, Canada's federal tax rates are lower than in the U.S..

Really? My dad said to me his tax rates are roughly 50% and he rakes in quite the paycheck.

I mean, how the hell do we manage to have free health care and lower tax rates than the U.S.?

The hard "R" sound. It's not as pronounced.

Oh. Never noticed that. I think that's how it was pronounced in Inglourious Basterds which is the only context I've ever heard the name pronounced outside of the video.

Side note: did you know he speaks fluent Japanese?

Except it is publicly available. AFAIK.

It's a fucking movie. I spoiled it, got a lot of people butt blasted, served a mighty long ban for it from here, its old news. Its last year shit. Holding a grudge over me on that shit is unhealthy.

1. Your ban was not long.
2. It was a month ago, not a year.
3. I don't have a grudge against you. I just don't like you.

So you porked your presentation

That implies that I did poorly, which I didn't.
But I didn't imply you did poorly.

Porking = fucking

"You fucked your presentation."
You had sex with your presentation?

Are you illiterate?

I had a lot of bad shit happen to me this entire month irl when I was banned. Are you satisfied?

No. But that's only because I don't believe you and I don't care.

Honestly, I thought you were cool, but getting mad over someone spoiling a movie online, at least at the level that you were pissed is extreme. I'm not going to do it anymore though.

Spoiling things is the single worst thing you could do on the internet.

Actually.... doxxing someone is probably by far the single worst thing you can do on the internet, and it lands you a permanent ban here. Its why Kinder is banned forever, so you are wrong.

Ultimately you sacrifice your right to privacy when you use the internet.

Spoiling things is worse.

And really? An hour of time talking about this stuff and no one?
Did you show video?

I did show A video.

A lot of these kids have had the notion that "eating meat is fine and profitable for us, no downside" reinforced since they were wee lads, and even if they weren't, becoming a vegan (or adopting any other life-altering philosophy) doesn't happen overnight. Usually. It did with me but,  y'know...

I'd have liked to have had an entire class devoted to just Q and A. In consession, Klomp asked me to bring in some vegan food for the exam day.
haha do you think an entire class worth of time would have netted you that many questions?
and that's pretty cool.

Yeah, definitely. People were really interested and always have questions for me. I'm kind of the TA in that class, in that I stir up more conversation and teach more critical thought than that of the actual teacher. If I can devote an entire class to freedom of speech with a single sentence I think I can handle a Q and A following an hour long presentation.

We definitely need less Fire Emblem characters, if anything.
At least Paper Mario is unique, both thematically and in abilities.  It'd be infinitely more meaningful than some cheap clone like Dr. Mario or Dark Pit.

I definitely agree. When creating my own rosters, I try to limit the amount of characters per franchise to four. Except in Pokémon's case where you HAVE to include Pikachu and Jigglypuff. I dont count them.

Nice.
Lots of reactions I assume?

A lot of people understood where I was coming from, but I wasn't alloted nearly enough time to fully convince someone to change. Lots of family farmers in the audience.

My presentation was cut off yesterday when I started and it still took me a half hour to get through it.
