copypasta'd from a similar thread on bnet:

I subscribe a very broad, "vague" understanding of "god." It would appear to me that it's obvious that some greater force created and governs the universe- the exact nature of this greater force is beyond my comprehension, of course. I believe that everyone, even "atheists," acknowledge the existence of this higher force- some of us believe it is Yahweh, some of us believe it is science/math, et cetera. You get what I'm saying? Everyone believes in some higher force. I do not believe in Yahweh or any other conventional "bearded man in the sky", but, by my reckoning, science and math are "god." So, I call myself a deist, because I believe that math/science/some other unknowable force created the universe, and I acknowledge that that force is "god," but it does not consciously interfere with or affect the day to day lives of the organisms living in the universe.

I am a nihilist because I do not believe that we have any intrinsic purpose beyond survival and reproduction. Because there is no purpose behind that, I believe that our lives are wholly devoid of meaning- therefore, we must create our own meaning. I continue to live because I am enamored by life's beauty. I believe that our impermanence and the existential futility of our lives creates a beautiful duality with the realities of our existence. If there is any meaning in our lives, it is up to each individual to discern: we have free will, so we are able to pursue whichever pleasures we see fit. We live accordingly for a brief moment in time, and then we die, quickly forgotten by the universe and wholly swept away by the sands of time.

people who have gone through the same initiation progress and who have learned what it means to live and maintain a Greek life.

So, "Greek life" includes learning to clean a house and taking paddles up the ass? Or just being able to chug a set amount of beers?
do you actually know anything about fraternal organizations or did you get all your knowledge from an episode of blue mountain state

Considering both my roommates last year were in fraternities, my ex decided to join one, and I've been to more than a handful of parties - yes. I know a fair bit of how they conduct themselves.

It's nothing more than a joke.
everyone has their vices. fraternities offer many social and economic benefits to membership, and the benefits of their existence outweigh the perceived detriments.

Irish here, what the hell is a "frat"?
short for fraternity (brotherhood.) frats are popular communal organizations for college/university students all over america, and offer many benefits for membership. they are typically exclusive, holding "pledge rush" events at the beginning of school years/semesters and weeding out candidates who dont fit their style (if you try hard enough you'll eventually get into some frat if you're not a complete weirdo.) frats are almost always male-only, though females have similar fraternal organizations called "sororities."

frats are a huge part of american college culture

Even more disgusting, considering she's a mother.

Not really.

Yes, really. She is a mother - I understand love for one's body (Or, in Kim's case, love for the money you can get from your body), however, she has a child to think of. These images are never going away - does she want her daughter to stumble upon them one day?
oh yeah, this softcore spread's really gonna mess with North's head, totes

7478
She's still got it. Wish they didn't shop the pics so heavily..

Also, I understand personal preference, but I feel like there's something weird going on with the people ITT who keep saying it's disgusting/"think of her child!"

Like, she's a cute, shapely girl. Airheaded, obsessed with her own (undeserved) fame, maybe a bit dumb, sure. But she's attractive and knows how to play the fame game, so give her some credit. And how does her kid have anything to do with this? Is the kid gonna get mentally fucked when she finds out Kim K did a softcore spread for some magazine back in 2014? Especially considering the existence of the sex tape (which also won't have any actual effect on the kid,) not even close. I'll never understand the internet's vehement crusade against Kim K. Fucking prudes, is what the lot of you are.

What are you talking about?
bubblegum crisis and ghost in the shell are cyberpunk/femme power anime/manga series
Does the bubblegum one have an anime?
two animes. one is really old, "Bubblegum Crisis." there's a new, sequelish version from the 90s called "Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040"

I can honestly say that I'd rather slit my wrists than go to a "cyberpunk/fem power show".
im talking about anime shows. you've never heard of Ghost in the Shell?
Oh, I thought it was some kind of live event by the way you phrased it.

I've never seen an actual anime like that, but Totally Spies was the shit. I loved that show when I was a kid.
Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex is really good. It's about a Special Operations police squad in a futuristic Japan where "cyberization" (getting computer/mechanical implants) is becoming a societal norm, and it addresses the philosophical implications of highly advanced AI and The Ship of Theseus, as well as expounding on the concept of a "stand alone complex," "a phenomenon where unrelated, yet very similar actions of individuals create a seemingly concerted effort"

its super cool. there's a manga, two films, two seasons of the SAC series, and at least one OVA that i know about

They're in the game. Not only that but there are achievements tied to them. Not sure what's going on with your end though :P
I was playing co-op with a friend online, it was like that for both of us. we were doing Legendary, if that has any effect on the easter eggs

i played the first two missions of H3 yesterday, and noticed that the monkey dudes in Sierra 117 were missing, as well as the RvB event in Crow's Nest

anyone else with MCC notice any easter eggs removed or added to the campaigns?

Gaming / Re: For those with the MCC

1) its good. some of the additions to the maps (gungoose) were unnecessary and, quite frankly, stupid. but its good. its a better competitive game than reach or h4 so at least we're there. probably better than h3 too.

2) feels great. i have issues with frame loss in campaign but otherwise the games look and feel awesome.

3) menu UI is really buggy. you have to redo your controller settings for every individual game, roster doesnt really work. UI looks okay though.

That's because Skyrim is the better game. I love all the kids who constantly hate on it in an attempt to seem cool.
its an extremely shallow RPG with very simple combat mechanics. redeemed by immersiveness and good aesthetic direction. its a 6/10 game.

Pretty sure the 2nd Amendment was speaking to townships.  The Continental Army wasn't everywhere, and you had the hostile British to the north and the Spaniards to the south.  It would be in the best interest of the nation for each town to have a militia that can mobilize quickly to deal with any foreign (or domestic) threats.  "Well-regulated" meaning that they are trained and disciplined in the use of firearms and guerrilla tactics.

The 2nd Amendment was poorly written, as evidenced by the fact that no one can agree what it means.
yeah, it was intended for organized regional militias

guns exist for one purpose: to kill. obviously we dont want everyone to have access to something that can kill another person with little to no effort

i mean, thats how my naive, idealistic mind sees it. i know that real world application and context is everything with regards to this argument- we do need gun ownership, because there will always be bad people who use guns to hurt others and we need to be on an even playing field with them. that being said, im still very unnerved and disconcerted by the idea that we have a fundamental right to own murder weapons.
