the pc port is terrible, gats is very sad : (
hm whats wrong with it? i havent seen anyone complain about it on /r/dbxv
maybe I need to play around with the settings. plus using a mouse and keyboard for it doesn't help.

it just felt very clunky and slow. the fighting style should be fast paced like the anime

i'll try it again, i haven't played enough to give a proper evaluation
> fast paced like the anime

oh geez

well, in any case, it IS fast paced. it just takes a hot minute to get used to the controls probably. took me 5 hours or so before i got comfortable with my fundamentals

The Flood / Re: Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor
« on: March 25, 2015, 04:35:54 PM »
looks good, and he has the acting chops to pull this off. all depends on which Lex we see; a one dimensional typical greedy businessman, or the guy who acknowledges the danger that Superman poses and works to defend the world from the perceived alien threat. with the way Man of Steel went, i wouldnt be surprised if they took the second route.

i also have the utmost faith in Snyder to make this work out. Watchmen was fantastic.

I hate fighting games but want this just to make a female majin character.
its not like any other fighting game you may have played. its more like an RPG wearing a fighter's clothes

GKMC for sure, it sets up the "story" nicely. you wont get as much out of TPAB if you havent pored through GKMC

good kid mad city vs to pimp a butterfly? guys
GKMC is a much more traditional hip hop album, TPAB is an experimental concept album that mixes a TON of different styles. not really fair to compare them methinks

It's really good. Really really good. Only issues are it's grindy (to be expected due to the nature of the game) and there are a lot of cheaters in online PVP, but that isn't such a big problem unless you really want to hit the Ranked PVP grind.

Aesthetically, it's the nicest looking/sounding Dragon Ball game I've ever seen. The 3D battlefields are really well done, the environments are somewhat destructible (craters disappear and other stuff respawns but you can blow most of the map up regardless.) The soundtrack has a classic DBZ feel to it.

Gameplay wise, it's really fast paced. It's not a traditional fighting game, more like an RPG set in a fighting game framework. Every fight is its own unique experience and, if you dont just have friends boost you to high levels, the story mode (and some parallel quests) can be really fucking difficult, and it's all the more rewarding when you come back from training and beat the boss you lost to 5 times in a row. There are 50+ Parallel Quests which you can do alongside the story (and more to come through the DLC.)

Speaking of DLC, DBXV did DLC right! The base game is definitely worth full price, and the awesome thing is that the DLC doesn't lock you out of max level content like in Destiny. DBXV DLC just adds PQs, some playable characters, and equipment.

The fighting roster isn't quite as diverse as one might hope, but each individual fighter has more than 1 moveset (barring a few exceptions,) more than doubling the effective roster size. Additionally, the player characters allow for a ton of customization. This is where the RPG elements come in! Your characters have customizable "attributes:" Max HP, Max Ki, Max Stam, Ki Blast Supers, Strike Supers, and Basic Attacks. In addition, you have a pretty diverse selection of abilities to choose from: you are allocated 4 "Super" abilities, 2 "Ultimate" abilities, and 1 "Evasive" ability at a time (there are many many choices for each of these.) Each archetype has its own unique strengths and weaknesses which are augmented by physical character customization. Each race (Majin, Earthling, Namek, Saiyan, Frieza) has their own unique passive abilities; for example, the Namekians have long reach on their grab, Earthlings regen Ki naturally, and Saiyans have increased damage the less health they have. Additionally, physical customization like height and weight affect your stats. It's pretty in-depth.

After finishing the story and (almost) all of the base game's Parallel Quests, I have 4 max level characters, and I gotta say this is the most fun I've had with a game since New Vegas came out. Definitely worth a buy.

Umm. That is not ISIS. Just one of the groups in the libyan civil war that due to the hype decided to pledge allegiance to ISIS. Isis is like a franchise .
yeah, like how random extremist groups used to pledge allegiance to AQ when they were the cool kids on the block

there will be more to come in the wake of the ongoing lawsuit. this is certainly going to be an interesting series of events, but it would be presumptuous of me to make any predictions at the moment.

I believe the new Star Wars movies are going to be great and I'm looking forward to all of them.
many fans believed the same thing in the years leading up to the prequels.. optimism is a dangerous game

Serious / Re: Why didn't we listen to George Washington?
« on: March 24, 2015, 03:40:44 PM »
im gonna try to cook something up for you anyway... bear in mind, this is the result of extremely cursory research and what little colonial history i know off the top of my head.

in his farewell address, washington stressed the importance of national unity, stating that our nationality ties us together. that unity, he said, was going to be our greatest martial strength, our greatest economic stimulant, and the leg on which liberty stands. now, whats important here is context: we had just shaken the effects of the articles of confederation, which threatened to establish a confederacy instead of a centralized federal government. so, washington used that rhetoric about unity to help remind us of the dangers of partisanship in government.

now, in the latter part of his speech, he talks about political parties specifically. he says that we should beware the "spirit of party" because the party system allowed for an "artful minority" to control the masses- he was essentially warning us about the potential of representative democracy to morph into something eerily similar to oligarchy. washington was right to be concerned about that. it represents the "other extreme" with regard to the dangers of democracy, the first being its tendency to develop into a tyranny of the majority.

superficially, party politics back then were pretty similar to our parties of today. politicians talked all that good shit about each other, engaged in smear campaigns, gerrymandered, played to the whims of their demographics, all that. but the big difference between then and now is the money behind the politics; by my estimation, washington never could have imagined the scope of the marriage between big money and politics that we have born witness to today.

so, when we think about what he said today, we think about it in our own context. however, that leads us to the wrong conclusions; instead, we must look at it through washingtons perspective. only then can we find the truth of his philosophy.

"isolationism" is an entirely different can of worms.

theres still plenty of room to introduce the ironborn, and lets be honest, LSH was an asspull anyway, who cares if we never get her.

also, your other complaints are a bit odd. have you ever read the books?
What about them is odd exactly?
that you seem to think the tv versions of dany and jon are "flawless," and that you seem surprised at the sand snakes' "feminist" tendencies

RIP in peace Jaime, Brienne, and Brotherhood without Banners storylines. I'm sure GoT writers will do great without following the source material.
theyll do fine. the source material isnt the holy grail of fiction, you know. theres a reason martin is letting them take such liberties; theyre going to the same place, and cutting out all of the unnecessary bullshit along the way to fit it for tv.

How else do you propose we deal with such people?
ive got a few ideas involving firing squads and eugenics... but fucking hitler ruined final solutions for everyone -_-

star wars will earn enough cash to warrant a sequel, barring a terrible tragedy. it would have to be 1000000x worse than the prequels to lose any money, and the prequels were fucking trash in the first place, so its safe to say the star wars train will keep on rolling.

mad max is a bit different. my money's on it being a flop.
