you probably inb4'd my edit, so let me ask you another question: if you couldn't donate, and instead chose to make it your primary living wage, how would that work out?

So you win a lottery that you didn't know you had entered and receive $1,000,000 (or whatever the equivalent may be in your ridiculous pooreigner currency) after taxes.

How long could you make it last?
Would you be able to live off of that money? For how long? Would you need supplementary income in order to maintain a certain lifestyle?

American hegemony and force projection are part of why this country is as powerful and successful as it is. You don't remain the leading player in geopolitics without maintaining a military edge.
I will agree that having good equipment is a good thing to have but do we really need to be buying things that we don't need? We're still buying tanks that the majority are not going to be used and our jets are far better than those cold war era jets or jets from back water countries that we have been fighting. We can go years with the size we have now and the tech for them. If anything just update that things we have now every year or so.

The chances of another world war happen are slim. Even if one does break out and nukes are not involved it's most likely going to take place in Europe again since that's where most of the world powers are at. Lets say Russia does start something we have our allies in Europe to back us up if we get involved.

Given what we've got, I'm very glad it's the US wielding the biggest stick, and not China or Russia. I'm not very keen on seeing either of them climb to the top of the pile, and I would think you'd feel the same way.
If China wanted to they could wage one hell of a war in Asia and Europe. They have over one billion people living in that country so military age people would be far greater than anybody else. If anything is keeping people in line it is nukes. Why risk invading a country that has them are starting another world war when there's the chance of being nuked?
luckily, China has a vested stake in the continued prosperity of the USA/Europe and their affiliates, so they don't have much of a reason to wage this war

people play World of Warcraft?
Considering it's still the most popular western MMO, I'd say yes.
EVE might be bigger. it's really hard to find accurate population estimates for EVE though.

That'll definitely help the game's dying population.
If anything people doing that were maintaining somewhat of a population due to people not wanting to do heavy grinding for shit.
not really. they could only sell items that werent soulbound, IE no armor/quest items. they mostly sold pets and mounts and gold

I will never understand the unreasonable hate that the competitive community gets.

It's not the competitive players, it's the idiots who insist that the game has to be played their way and sneer at the other, probably less skilled players who may not agree with them. The kind that claim that those unskilled players don't know what is 'best' for the game and shouldn't have their opinions considered.

Reference the Reach subforum, shortly after the game came out.
To be fair, 90% of the mouthbreathing idiots who used the Reach forum really didn't have valid opinions due to being retarded.

Well, yeah, but the bunch of jerks making multiple threads a day detailing what Halo 'should' be (and back it up with their twelve-digit k/d ratio) are the ones I'm focused on.
Has it occurred to you that maybe they were right? The gloating was a bit much, but the devs didn't listen to the competitive community in Reach and H4 and look how that turned out.

That has little to do with the community and more to do with 343 attempting to add new gameplay features popular in other games.
So they pandered to the casual market that doesn't care about working mechanics and will buy anything new and shiny. Exactly like Reach. After years of the best players telling them why that shit doesn't work. They brought it upon themselves for not listening to us. I realize Bungie didn't care about Reach one bit, but 343 had all the information they needed to rectify the problems with Reach and they just made the problems worse in pursuit of the casual market

-What new footage?
-Putting MLG in quotes doesn't make any sense: they were/are pros in MLG circuits.
-Considering how quickly H4 and Reach died pandering to casuul vermin, I don't blame them for shifting their focus towards advertising to eSports kids.

Halo, shifting to the esports crowd

what a fucking way to go...
you know the "esports crowd" is the reason xbox live/halo is even a thing, right?
For Xbox Live being a thing that was because of Halo 2, not the "esports crowd". Then for Halo being a thing that is more because of your causal players or non competitive ones. There's more social and non-competitive playlists in Halo than what there are for competitive ones. There's more causal players than what there are of MLG players or whatever gaming event players.
the MLG/competitive players were the only ones who played CE in any sort of organized way, and they got bungie's attention and made halo 2 what it was.

Serious / Re: Let's Discuss America's Infrastructure
« on: May 13, 2015, 01:03:43 PM »
The national infrastructure is very shoddy on the whole. Newer communities tend to have better urban planning but the rough reality of the population booms in the 1920s/1950s and all the economic trends that came alongside is that the urban sprawl outpaced the bureaucracy's ability to properly keep up.

I'd be willing to try privatization in some areas to at least figure out a better way to do roads. Can't be any more incompetent than the government, and we could put fail-safes for accountability in place

No arguments? Just saying I watch ESPN and look at wiki?

Makes sense.

How bout this. You and me get on tinychat (where answers are instant, so you can't look shit up) and we have a neutral party ask us questions about the NFL?

If I lose I'll send you a year of XBL or PSN.
If you want to measure dicks, then we can just post pictures in a thread somewhere, babe.

Looks like a slap on the wrist?

LOL I love when people who know nothing about sports try and talk about them.
I grew up in and around football for my entire life. You know what they say about assumptions... ;)

You grew up around football but you still know little to nothing if you think this is a slap on the wrist.
Two draft picks in the grand scheme of things are meaningless to an organization like New England.

A first round pick is never meaningless. You're proving once again you know nothing about the NFL...
> thinking first round picks are the only way to procure talent
> implying that first round picks are always worthwhile

Damn, you're dumber than you seem. That's impressive.
