See, it's things like this that make people think you are a troll. You make threads calling out atheists because a bus burned down but a bible survived, claiming it's a miracle and proof of god's existence while every person with a basic understanding of science can explain this perfectly natural and common occurence.
Then, you somehow think you're making a point by referencing a book written by a woman who is either delusional as a result of grief, or who is a lying scammer making money out of fools who buy into such cheap stories because it fills a void they are too scared to address with logic and reason.
I personally have little to no esteem for religion and think it is no more valuable than fairy tales, but I am all in favor of living and letting live as long as it doesn't harm others. You are welcome to have these opinions and be a Christian, but do realise that it's things like this that make people think you are just a troll.
Prove to me heaven isn't real.
Actually, just prove to me ANY afterlife isn't real.
Until then, you can call me a troll all you like. But you're wrong.
traditionally, the burden of proof lies with whomever posits a claim, not those who are skeptical of the claim. for example: i believe that the dinosaurs were actually aliens who left earth and now live on a planet orbiting sirius. does the burden of proof here lie with me, or with the people who say "thats fucking dumb?"

you guys have no faith.
and why should we have faith?
I'm not saying you should or have to.
I'm just saying I feel bad for you if your outlook on life and the afterlife is as bleak as some of you here make it seem.
the perceived absence of an afterlife doesnt necessarily beget a bleak outlook. if anything, it serves to emphasize the beauty of our impermanence, and gives greater meaning to the transient world

You know there's a little gland in the center of your head that produces a very illegal and powerful psychedelic?
That little gland becomes active when we sleep and is part-wise responsible for our dreams. But, when our body undergoes the process of shutting down, that little gland goes into complete overdrive and keeps neural activity going several minutes after all bodily functions have stopped.
It floods our brains with that drug, which, most notably, is known by all users of it to produce time dilation. So, in our dying stages, in one last hurrah our brain goes on an eternally long ass drug trip.
I don't know about you, but technically you could say that you're wrong about the rot in the hole statement. That of course, comes after we're officially dead.
But I find it funny that we'd develop such a mechanism concerning death.

That isn't what I said. If you believe in the Christian god, then by extension, you disbelieve in literally all other god's existence.
Therefore, you treat them as any atheist would treat yours. And you would realise that those religions were attempt to control the public.
this actually isnt true. in the judeo-christian religion, yahweh is not the only god-indeed, yahweh was a legendary warrior who might have been conflated with el and eventually elevated to the position of chief god in isreal/judah. the semitic pantheon is sprawling. the whole monotheism thing was just sped along by the likes of zoroastrianism. edit: yahweh may actually have been a storm god, rather than another name for el, but thats kind of a non-issue in this context

Oh they are taught?
They who taught the first person about God?
God exists, just stop trying atheists
you mean yahweh? your good friend yahweh was a legenday figure (a warrior, as i understand it) in the semitic tradition and was eventually raised to the status of god as semitic rulers sought fit to consolidate their power. you know, "divine right of kings" sort of thing.

How does one become more intelligent then?
Based on my understanding of it, one doesn't become more intelligent. Everyone has a capacity to apply knowledge, some are more inclined than others. The ones who are more inclined are more intelligent.
So basically, you can be born an atheist?
strictly speaking, yes. babies dont have any sort of concept of theism or religion. these things are taught, not natural. its the tabula rasa

more or less. of course, intelligence can change, but not in the way people might think

I'd rather be miserable than wrong.
we're probably all wrong in some small way. assuming that atheism is an absolute truth is just as silly as assuming that the holy spirit wrote the bible with ink and a quill. the reality is that existential truth is entirely unknowable; pretending to understand it is foolish.

really though, i think atheists are somewhat burdened by the "knowledge" that there is no afterlife. one would think that realizing that we're all there is would prompt you to live life to the fullest, but i suppose many atheists are content to just suffer lifelong existential crises.

2001 is outdated, Interstellar is much better.
I actually saw Interstellar about a week ago. Also fantastic.
B-but it's not realistic!!!
Naw, seriously though it was a fantastic movie, 2001 was pretty good too, but yeah it's kinda outdated now
still something you gotta watch
the only thing really that bad aside from the ending(although I guess you could argue "muh godlike 5th dimensional entities") was the ice planet where the ice floats above gas or something. . .
Someone failed deformable bodies.
the last bit of insterstellar very nearly ruined the rest of the film luckily it was good enough to still be a 7 at the end of the day

Opinions disregarded.
i feel so bad for you tbh
I don't know why you would, 2001 is shitty, old, long, and boring.
if you have the attention span of a goldfish and 6 working brain cells, maybe but i mean, hey, if the glove fits..

In the grand scheme of things, it was for the better. that doesn't make it right though
winning the lottery and becoming set for life doesn't make playing the lottery a good idea
well that lottery analogy only really holds water if youre specifically talking about people who spend a lot of money on the lottery regularly. if youre just at a gas station and have some extra funds to play the lotto on one or two tickets thats not necessarily a bad idea

It doesn't matter. Why are you taking such a non-important thing so seriously? Use whatever place you'd like, but don't come in here and act like an ass for literally no reason.
you know, thats a really good question, noelle =]

Classic Rock gets boring to me, which is why I don't use the other room.
that seems like a pretty petty reason
