GITS 1995 is actually like only the third best entry in the franchise, after Stand Alone Complex and the original manga
oshii completely changed motoko's personality and turned the whole thing into an extraordinarily serious affair. it was still smart & well structured but lacked the levity of shirow's & kamiyama's works

I love Littlefinger in the books and I think he offers a lot of potential to shake things up in the show but at this point it's clear that the writers have no idea what to do with him and he's basically just taking up screen time.
