Jumping with a button is going to take some getting used to. I've played the game for like 30 minutes and all but one of my deaths were from falling off the map and just plummeting down trying to remember how to jump back up. Pretty good otherwise though.
can always force yourself to learn the muscle memory by jumping offstage and seeing how far you can recover from in training mode. Also a good way to learn how deep you can go for edgeguards.

Personally, I keep tap jump on to keep my right thumb free, specifically for attacking out of shield. Makes rest oos free as Puff once you nail the up > down-b timing.
What do the pros use?
Jump w/buttons and c-stick aerials is the most common one, leaving tap-jump on just gives you that little extra movement option if you want to use it.

so what are the main differences between young and toon link

does young link play exactly like he did in melee?
he feels much less clunky than Melee YL. Much the same play style but easier to move around and string moves together. Fire arrows, no meteor Dair and Up Smash seem to be the main differences between him and Tink.

I have a really bad habit of just dashing all over the place, right into people and getting smacked in the face before I can even react. Trying to train my thumbs to just slow down and not dash about the stage right into people? I hear tapping shield to stop running is a good place to start.
you can use single dashes, or ‘fox-trotting’ to move about if you’re getting stuck in dash. Plenty of tutorials on it and it’s a simple enough tech to pick up. Shield stops are also good

Getting flustered is part of the game my guys, you can’t expect to jump right in and have anime levels of thinking clarity just because you can watch vods and understand every interaction. Coming up with an answer to their mixups is naturally hard under pressure.

Also one of the guys was grinding for near 12 hours straight and unlocked the entire cast before switching setups with the one we were using for free-for-alls. What a trooper.

Went to a party and played with a few friends/strangers; my god the entire cast feels so polished. Every character I got to try feels so polished and intuitive. I don’t know for certain but it feels like the inputs are less delayed than S4, too.

Fighting games are for people that can’t fight in real life.
sounds like you’d be right at home playing one, then

You ever spend a year and a half hoarding resources in a crappy mobile game just to flex on tertiary niggas with poor impulse control?

gone are the days where you’d be grinding to get onto the leaderboards of some app, only to find your progress erased by Indians, Russians and Mexicans hacking the game to have the entire top 10 at impossibly high scores

Puff has multiple D-Air into rest combos

ZSS's whip angles the opponent upwards and toward her instead of knocking the back normaly
>ZSS mains can’t kill with Zair at 3% now

Oh, the horror

I know top gear was taking the piss, but it genuinely sounds like an unironically acceptable, reasonably priced daily

Tempted to leave my job for a 50-60 hour/week gig paying $27 per hour, but I like the balance of having a little time outside work to enjoy myself with. A guy has limits, y’know

This is incredibly sexist. Casual-masculinity is gateway behavior to more aggressive and toxic misogyny. We really shouldn’t encourage this.

while people are debating on whether the shorthand for this game should be "ultimate," "smash 5," "SSBU," or "smush"

i've personally taken to referring to it as Smash $5.99
smash 4.02

So slight hitch on the Xb1, pricing has gone up again. If I find a cheapie I'll jump on it tho.

No balls
I'd rather not pay nearly $400 for a 5 year old console.

The Balloon knockback looks like it could set up for some pretty early kills on stages with small blast zones. If I do get a switch somewhere down the track I might try Sheik out once more; but defs keen to branch out and experiment more with characters to find my main than stick to the Triforce. Picking up Falco in melee was a refreshing change of pace after 2 or 3 years with Link/Sheik/Ganon
