His growth will begin to slow within the next 3-5 months.
By January, this'll be but a dream.
That's a damn shame because there aren't any other democrat candidates I'd consider voting for. Might have to go Green in this one.
Next January, I don't want to hear complaints for you then about the next President.
Why can't I complain? I'm not one of those bitches who doesn't vote then complains. I've voted in every election I could since 2006.

Why is it you come to the Serious forum again?
That's a great fucking question.
"waah people don't agree with me"
Because you're literally the leftist version of PSU. There's a reason people made the joke that PSU is your alt.
It has literally nothing to do with agreeing or disagreeing. I have no problem having civilized discussions with people I don't agree with. In fact, those are often the most enjoyable.
Your hypocrisy is astounding.
I made a post rebutting the points in the article you linked, and all you did was say my post was a joke instead of "having a civil discussion". Drop the act you fucking retard. You're no more interested in a civil discussion than a wild animal is.
Except this has been a civil discussion until you showed up.
Please, show the part where I made the discussion uncivil.
Oh wait, you can't. Because you're the one who started slinging insults.
I simply asked if your response was serious, then you lost your shit on me.

Or thinking college is unaffordable?
Umm...it is. Even cheap schools are drastically more expensive than they were 10 years ago, while wages for min wage and entry level jobs remain mostly the same. college is not an affordable choice for most young people coming out of high school.

Remember the Paulbots?
Same shit different election cycle.
Ron Paul had some pretty absurd, unattainable ideas. Most of which dealing with abolishing government agencies and shit.
I'm mostly referring to the hype involved. . .
Lots of hype, but for different reasons, I'd say.

All I can side with is that the couple was within their legal right to sue the bakery for discrimination.
Obviously, but we're quite clearly debating the merits of the law here.
And I think anti-discrimination laws that protect LGBTs are both necessary and right.
1. Pretty sure you'll be sued to death of you fire somebody for being gay. Haven't heard of people being fired for being gay. Obviously the official reasons won't be listed as "fired for being gay", but people know when it happens and would raise hell about it.
2. LOL
3. And Jews still face discrimination because Neo Nazis are protected by police when they fly their nazi flag. Fuck off.
4. Landlords can rent to whoever hey want to. You'll find black people still have a tough time renting in majority white areas. While this is wrong, it isn't institutionalized discrimination.
5. That isn't institutionalized discrimination.
6. Of course. Provide support for the middle class and rich gay kids but arrest and shoot kids in the ghetto.
7. They should be restricted.
8. I don't see how jury duty is so appealing or how they can really tell if somebody's gay, but ok.
9. Transgenders are mentally unstable and shouldn't serve in the military.
10. That's a problem with parents not accepting their kids. It isn't oppression.
11. Adoption is really fucked up for everybody no matter how you look at it. But yes, it's ducked up how gay couples are discarded.
12. Happens to everybody.
13. Happens more to ethnic and religious minorities than gays and trannies.
14. I don't even know what to say to this shit. These people are going to be messed with in any gender prison.
15. Happens to everybody.
16. You can't pass a law to stop people from disliking and rejecting homosexuality and transgenderism.
Gays and such are hardly oppressed.
I can't tell if you're being serious or just fucking with me.
Sick rebuttal yo
why would I waste my time responding to a joke post?
I provided a rebuttal for every point, only two of which are discrimination and none of them are oppression.
If you don't have a rebuttal and can't form one, that's fine. Just don't start throwing shit around like a chimp because you can't handle what I have to say.
I questioned it because several of your responses are sensational, absurd, and ridiculous. If you're being serious, fine.

They're not being discriminated against.
Being denied a service because of a personal characteristic is literally the definition of discrimination.
It's a cake. They're not being lynched.
The severity of the discrimination doesn't make it not discrimination.
The severity of the discrimination should determine the severity of the punishment. I really can't feel bad about the fundies losing their business as a result of public backlash, but this ruling is just fucking wrong.
It's been mentioned a couple times that we don't have public access to the court's documents on the case, so we don't know exactly how that number was determined. For all we know, it could have included $100,000 of lawyer fees.

And yet there's still apparently some kind antifemale conspiracy in STEM. . .
In my experience, it's kinda going away on its own. I know a ton of women that work in STEM fields - I'd even wager it's most of my female friends. Hell, my girlfriend works in a chem lab and literally all of the people working in the lab are women under 30, aside from the lab director who is an older dude.

I think we all can agree that their actions were rude, but my major concern is that this type of harsh, punitive fines set a bad precedence. And at the end of the day, it seems apparent that 'the market' already imposed more than enough recourse for their action.
"The market" adjusts for things it [the consumers] doesn't like. But the bakery did something outside of that, they broke the law, as silly and shallow as some of you may find it to be. We can't really say much about the dollar amount since we can't see the court records.

But meta it's perfectly OK to force people to be complicit in a ceremony they don't agree with.
Why can't you understand this?
What the fuck's there to disagree with? It's a wedding. They make plenty of other wedding cakes.

Over? Nah. There's still plenty left.
After briefly glancing over that list, the only two that really seem "oppressive" are the right to fire somebody on the grounds of their sexuality (and that's a fucking stretch) and gay conversion therapy.
It's difficult to say they're equals now when that's a non-exhaustive list of what they still can't do that I have no problem doing every day of my life.

Let me guess - "gays are executed in the middle east, so gays in the US should shut the fuck up"?
They should shut the fuck about not being baked a cake, yeah.
It really would be no different to refusing to bake a cake for a paedophile conference, and I'm sure nobody would take issue with that.
Well pedophiles aren't a protected class in Oregon or any other US state, so it's not really the same.

It's a luxury.
They weren't denied food. They were denied a cake. Where's the emotional damage for kids that have never eaten a cake in their life?
Fuck all these sexual degenerates and their pretend discrimination. Racist and classist motherfuckers.
Let me guess - "gays are executed in the middle east, so gays in the US should shut the fuck up"?
Pretty much. They can get married, they have equal rights.
Their "oppression" is over.
Over? Nah. There's still plenty left. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2015/06/26/employee-non-discrimination_n_7671726.html

They're not being discriminated against.
Being denied a service because of a personal characteristic is literally the definition of discrimination.
And shutting down a business by forcing them to pay through the nose because they acted in accordance with a non-aggressive value isn't discriminatory?
It's the law in Oregon, and it's in line with other anti-discrimination laws in other states, along with the Federal Civil Rights Act and Americans with Disabilities Act. Again, I don't know the details of the actual dollar amount that was decided on, since there don't seem to be publicly-accessible records of the case. All I can side with is that the couple was within their legal right to sue the bakery for discrimination.

"Emotional damages"?
Kill yourselves you fucking faggots. Go to a different bakery. How fucking spiteful can you be to destroy someone's business because they don't want to bake you a cake?
The law's the law, bro. I don't see anti-discrimination laws protecting LGBT people going away any time soon. How shitty can someone be where they don't want to do their fucking job and bake a cake?
1017
« on: July 09, 2015, 12:38:46 PM »
I'm mostly curious what kind of cake this was. I've been to a shit-ton of weddings, and none of them have ever had pictures or writing on the cake. They're almost always plain, sometimes with flowers or other shit on them.

Gays have gay weddings. Making the distinction between the customer and the ceremony is fucking stupid because without one you don't have the other.
This is mental gymnastics of Camnator-esque levels.
It doesn't matter who is buying the cake, it was rejected because of the ceremony. The gay couple could send their straight couple friends to order the cake, and it still would've been rejected. I don't even think the distinction is worthwhile making in most conversations, but it is if you're going to insist on a distinction not existing at all.
All you're doing is following pointless lines of reasoning so you can impose your own sociological views on the Christians in this scenario.
So for argument's sake, let's say they did send their straight friend to order the cake and they still refused to make it. Would the case still have had the same outcome on the same grounds?
1019
« on: July 09, 2015, 12:20:55 PM »
and my point remains is that it was THEIR gay ceremony.
Yeah, so? That's not even a point; what relevance does it have to anything?
How is it not a point? Turkey is saying that they weren't denied service because they were gay, it's because it was a gay wedding. Do you think gay people would be having a straight wedding? Would straight people be having a gay wedding? No. Gays have gay weddings. Making the distinction between the customer and the ceremony is fucking stupid because without one you don't have the other.

Well if they were hosting a gay pride party or something, I would assume they would have been refused on the same grounds.
Duh.
The point is that they weren't rejected because they were gay, they were rejected because they were looking for somebody to service a gay ceremony.
and my point remains is that it was THEIR gay ceremony.
