There is no point for a display on a smartphone over 1080p. 2k, 4k, etc are really only needed for tablets, monitors, and TVs.
Entirely untrue. Not only is there a drastic and noticeable difference between a 720p 5" screen and a 1080p, 2K, or 4K 5" screen when using the device, but a lot of these devices now mirror/cast their screen to TVs of significant size.
