Why would I do something stupid like that?

Law and legal matters. It's too late for me to go back to school and become a lawyer, though.

Why is it to late?
Because I'm a month away from my masters and already have a career I enjoy enough.

Oh, what's your current career, if you don't mind me asking
Overall, the umbrella is Education. I was a high school teacher, I left to work for a non-profit that raises money for schools, and now I have a position waiting for me in January for Educational Technology and Instructional Design. In short, I'll be designing courses and curriculum implementing current and upcoming technology, and teaching the teachers how to effectively use it in the classroom to better engage the students.

Nice! My school could use some help haha
Yeah, so many schools do. The problem is that teachers and schools get grants for new technology, but nobody shows them how to properly use it in the classroom, so they either end up collecting dust, or you have $75,000 worth of laptops that are used for some bullshit that the teacher could be doing from their projector or smartboard.

Serious / Re: Los Angeles minimum wage raised to $13.25
« on: October 06, 2014, 04:17:19 PM »
If raising the minimum wage isn't the answer, what is? It's not like we can just *poof* make money worth more, or make goods and services cost less.
That's exactly our point. You can't just artificially make something more valuable or reduce the cost of living by demanding companies shell out more money. It doesn't work like that. At least not beneficially in the long run.

Have you even factored in what this will do to small businesses? I imagine not. All you really have in mind is the poor destitute workers. 2sad6me. #cut4ourworkers
Well we can't just let them make less and less money each year...

Normally, people see ~3% increase in their wages annually to make up for inflation and cost of living. Why shouldn't minimum wage people get an increase?

I do not understand why it has not just been made legal nationwide.
The Federal Government doesn't have authority on the matter.
But they ruled on interracial marriage way back when. I would expect them to do the same for same-sex marriage at some point - probably when most states have already allowed it.

This is an exciting time. Not only because more people are enjoying equality under the law, but we also get to see the "Race to see who is last to legalize same-sex marriage"

It'll be fun to watch.

Already got a thread about it.

DROPPED
I'm sorry, is Forbes known for being agenda-driven like Huffpost?

I'd get it if I had posted Breitbart or Fox, but come on. Why are you so butthurt all the time?
So when I do it, I'm butthurt, but when you do it, it's a push for an unbiased source?

Literally no firearm training course teaches this. Not for civilians, not for law enforcement. You never shoot-to-injure. Rule 1: You don't point your gun at something you don't want to kill.

Again, a car is a mode of transport, a gun is a weapon. Let's not be childish here.

The majority of school shootings and such have been committed with firearms that are legally owned. I don't trust the average person to carry a gun.

The average gun owner isn't commiting mass shootings though, so I don't see the need for mistrust.
why not ban or heavily restrict ownership to people with severe mental issues?
because SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED or some bullshit.

Because whether or not you agree with what he posts, he's an iconic member of the old Flood forums.
I don't know if I'd call being a profound idiot who acts like a child "iconic" but whatever.

Why don't you do things?
It's easier to just not eat.
That's not healthy.

And I dunno how to gym.
That's the toughest part. I didn't know how to gym, until a friend took me during an off-hour at the gym when it wasn't busy and showed me how to do things. That, plus the internet, is a great start and source of information.
