Being a long-time viewer of The Daily Show, I was cautiously optimistic about him taking over. His monologues are pretty solid and not much of departure from Jon. The correspondent bits are hit and miss, but Jessica Williams' on Monday night was great. Trevor's interviews are probably the weakest part of the show, but that's fixable. Right now he feels like he's meeting his idols, and he needs it to feel more conversational and less star-struck. He'll find his pace.
Overall 8/10. Room for improvement but off to a great start.

Military? No. What purpose would that serve? Our military is already too big.
It would probably be beneficial if we had some sort of mandatory public works program, though.

It expands what misdemeanors kill gun rights. It's in combination with a ccw ban on college campus. Get caught, lose gun rights for 10 years.
Well if you can't follow the rules, why should you be allowed to own a gun?
Because they're expanding the rules at the same time. Turning something that was legal, illegal and giving it a mandatory sentence.
I mean, for fucks sake. It includes ammunition. I could lose my gun rights for rolling on campus with a single cartridge behind the seat in my truck. If it got searched for any reason abd they found it, if be fucked
...maybe don't take your guns and/or ammo to school, then?

He also vetoed a bill turning some misdemeanors into 10 year gun bans.
He vetoed assault weapon bans twice with reasoning basically "get this shut off my desk."
Maybe he isn't so bad. Oh, right, lead ammo ban for hunting with no evidence the lead was causing harm.
Lead is pretty terrible for people, animals, and the environment What exactly was that bill about? I don't know anything about it. I'm sorry that one veto paints your whole perception of him

I haven't had a vaccine in 5 years so lol
Well I assume you're an adult, and adults have gotten all their vaccines by the time they leave high school
I'm 14, I was kinda over exaggerating when I shouldn't have, but I haven't gotten a shot in at least two years.
Well you get a bunch when you're a kid, then a few more if you go to college, like Hep C and such. I don't think there's any scheduled for early teens.

He's right, sorry not sorry.
Although his timing and choice of words is really poor.
This would work if anyone was working toward dismantling the second amendment, but that isn't happening. Unless you're one of those SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED types where literally any legislation that limits who can buy what firearms and weapons at what times is considered a violation of the second amendment...
Do I really need to explain this?
One step back means the loss of rights we will never get back. And as soon as we take one step back, another fucking statistical anomaly will be propagandized and forced into an issue, and you fuckers will be back demanding more, and more, and more every time.
So yeah, you're goddamn right I'm one of those SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED types, because I know that infringement begets infringement.
So you think that literally any person should be able to acquire any firearm or weapon at any time for any reason, with no background checks, registration, etc?

His main statement is that the second amendment shouldn't be taken away and that people should react.
I agree, but how he said it....could have been done better
Better than Jeb who basically said "well, shit happens"

Yeah, right. He wouldn't have done shit.
Fuck him--that's not something you say after a tragedy like this.
Yeah he should be more like obama and push his agenda less than 5 hours after the shooting!
You're going to have to be more specific about which shooting Obama did this after...
Lol you're still here.
um...ok?

“I would not just stand there and let him shoot me,” Mr. Carson, who has been surging in recent polls, said on Fox News. “I would say: ‘Hey, guys, everybody attack him! He may shoot me, but he can’t get us all.’ ” Can you picture Carson doing that in this situation? It's hilarious. He has the enthusiasm of a wet paper towel. "Hey...um...everyone? Do you think maybe we...um..maybe we should do som—*is shot*

Anybody who seriously opposed TPP on the basis of MUH CORPORATE INFLUENCE isn't paying attention, shouldn't be allowed to speak about the issue and should probably be shot too.
I'm glad Meta is still the supreme leader of all things economics around here...

Unfortunately, sometimes we need to do things that we don't want to do. It's called being an adult.
PIC RELATED- BEING AN ADULT
I don't understand the correlation

How would anything ever get funded if we could pick what we funded? Things would have to actually be popular to get funded. You know, a free society? Real democracy is not at gunpoint.

What an amazing world we could live in if we got to pick what our taxes paid for...
You realize this line of thinking runs counter to the statist defense of taxation, yes?
If taxes are justified because you do benefit from them, how the fuck is taxation for a service you are excluded from acceptable?
This essentially reverts your stance to nothing more substantial than "Grognak have big rock, you pay tribute Grognak whether or not you take piece of deer meat!"
Which to be fair has always been at the core of statism.
How would anything ever get funded if we could pick what we funded? And why is it a problem that my statement is in conflict with statism?

The government isn't forcing anyone to vaccinate their children. If you choose to skip out on some or all of your child's vaccinations, then there's no reason for your child to be entitled to government services.
See, this would be a valid argument if the government allowed an actual competitive education market to exist.
Instead, "free" government education is all that is really available to most poor and middle-class Americans. Policy in place does not allow private education to compete fairly with government-funded schooling, driving costs up and making it inaccessible for the poor.
It's not a fair game if one of the players gets to set the rules.
Then they should pull themselves up by their bootstraps

[vaccinating is] a fucking joke. Stupid libtards.
irony
Wrong, not what I said.
OVER-vaccinating is a fucking joke. The government telling you what you have to do with your child is a fucking joke.
There is no such thing as over-vaccination. It's a term invented by anti-vaxxers to sound legitimate.
I've personally had my son's pediatricians tell me not to get all the vaccinations that are "recommended" cause they're are far too many before the age of 3. I've also had friends who are doctors confirm this.
But you're right, let me listen to some kid on the internet. LAWL.
"kid"
I'm willing to bet your "son's pediatricians" and "friends who are doctors" are as real as your trip to England.
More importantly however, all doctors will not have infinitely valid opinions, nor opinions held by the vast majority of doctors. Some of them profit from telling people what they want to hear, when their job is really to tell them what they should hear.
You're still hung up on that dumb shit? Typical.
I agree, doctors opinions vary. Which is why I believe my personal doctors and friends over some quacks online.
I'd rather believe empirical evidence over a doctor's subjective opinion.
Its not like my doctors are telling me never to get my son vaccinated. All they told me were that some weren't needed at all and to space them out. Say, instead of getting 20 by age 3, get those same 20 by age 6 instead.
But I stand by my original point, IF someone doesn't want to vaccinate their children (Me not being one of those parents) , the government shouldn't force them to.

And thats fine. But if your child is banned from public schools, none of your tax money paid should be going to them.
