Serious / Re: Who should I vote for in 2015?
« on: October 17, 2014, 03:05:46 PM »
I don't know enough about UK politics to say...
To be honest, the poll runs from most right-wing at the top to left-wing at the bottom (although the Greens are more left than Labour).

But, I can't be arsed to summarise them, and I doubt you want to learn about it. So whatever man, fair enough.
No sweat. Maybe after the US election season is over next month I'll poke my nose into it; I've always been curious. I have a ton of research to do on my own politicians and ballot measures so I know what I'm voting for :P

Sorry. I lost respect for the guy the minute he turned into a mod and sucked Achronos's  dick.
His anti-lgbt rhetoric is what did it for me.

This was a burglary, what the frack does race have to do with it?
Now we're getting somewhere

Zimmerman was just doing his job as a community watch officer and had to defend himself from attack
The cop in Ferguson was being attacked and the kid was trying to take his gone
The other cop in Missouri was being fired at

None of these incidents deal with race, but the left tries to make it about race
Zimmerman's job ended when he called the police. The cop wasn't being attacked, and even if he was he has no right to shoot a kid in the back.

You're twisting the facts as always and race baiting. It's getting old. Grow up.
Tell me where his job ended? He was attacked and used self-defense

The cop was being attacked. He had a right to shot somebody reaching for his gun

You're twisting the facts here and it's getting old. You grow up
>hates twisting facts
>repeatedly refers to Zimmerman as a cop

C'mon bro.
Not calling Zimerman a cop

I'm calling the Ferguson cop a cop
Holy shit when did we stop talking about Zimmerman?

Not to mention that if Zimmerman hadn't followed Martin through the neighborhood, nothing would have happened.

Why is it ok for Zimmerman to shoot Martin in defense, but not for Martin to attack a guy who is following him around the neighborhood?

Yet if it was a white guy that killed two blacks, people will be throwing shit
I'm not disputing that.

I'm saying you're just as racist as the people who throw their shit.
I'm just calling out their hypocrisy that they throw a fit of Zimmerman protecting himself but let tragedies where whites are the victims go unnoticed
This has nothing to do with the Zimmerman trial.
It does

It's comparing the outrage of one incident to no outrage over another
Do we have to get equally outraged about every single crime that occurs?

Most of the Enjoy By series is pretty good, but I like this more than some of the others.
Would recommend?
Would.

Serious / Re: White Privilege
« on: October 17, 2014, 10:05:16 AM »
I think it all boils down to socio-economic standing, not necessarily race. It's tough for a black guy, brought up in the ghetto, to get out and make himself a new man. Same goes for backwoods southern hicks who live in trailer homes and make their own moonshine in the bathtub. It's [just as?] hard to get out of there, too. Poverty is an ugly cycle.

Dig this. Would 'class privilege' be more appropriate then?
I'd say that is more accurate, and less sensational.

Obviously having more money makes life easier, but when you get below a certain point [and usually paired with low value of education] it's a perpetuating cycle that is terribly difficult to break free from. Statistically, there's a ton of single-parent black families in low-income urban areas. That alone makes things more difficult, but combined with things like low quality of education and gang activity, each one of those elements compounds the burden one carries trying to break free from the cycle.

I had some bills to pay a while back, so I had to sell a lot of my guitar gear. Now I'm down to my amp, speaker cab, power supply, and an effect pedal.

Small, but mighty.

Who needs beer when you have liquor.
I have a ton of liquor in my cabinet, but it's so much easier to just crack open a beer than it is to pull down a few bottles and mix something up in a small glass.

In the US and other western countries, being an atheist is only mildly unpopular. Being an atheist is other parts of the world will get you killed either by citizens or by the government.

Why this didn't stay in Serious, I don't know. This is a pretty serious topic. It takes some real balls to do something like that.

Door has a point, though. Apostates aren't even allowed in Mecca, and Islamic doctrine dictates they be executed.

That's pretty brave.

The saddest part about this is that the federal government owns any monuments and parks in the first place.
I dunno, man. I don't really trust people enough to avoid destroying areas, resources, or habitats.

My city is still building thousands upon thousands of new homes, even though our infrastructure can't handle it. If it were up to them, they'd develop all of the natural habitats and mountains near me.
>doesn't trust people
>govt. by people for people
>trusts govt.
I don't trust unregulated industry. If nobody says companies can't  spill toxic waste into rivers and water supplies, they will.
