Depends on the mood I'm in.

If I'm out at the bar with friends - a good craft beer
If I'm chilling at home - whiskey neat, or maybe a spiced rum and coke

I like your style, Max. What kind of beer do you prefer?
Pretty much if it's an IPA, I'll drink it. Preferably a DIPA. I like really hoppy west coast IPAs like from Stone, Golden Road, Green Flash, etc.

Why does alcohol taste so gross though?
But...it doesn't?

Well, if we had proper education and access to contraceptives, it wouldn't be such a problem...

Mandatory abortions is treating a symptom, not the problem.

The Flood / Re: Anyone seen the TV show "The Flash"?

We already know that both Arrow and The Flash have acknowledged Batman/Gotham in one way or another, though. Interested to see where they go with that.

The only reference I've caught in Arrow is Harley Quinn in the Suicide Squad episode. Is there anything else?

Really though, Arrow is basically what I've always wanted from a Batman origin series. He just happens to use arrows rather than other gadgets.
In The Flash, there's the scene where Dr Wells pulls up the futuristic newspaper, and one of the smaller headlines is about Wayne Tech/Queen Inc

we see Felicity reading a blog about The Red Streak

Sounds like a particularly bad underwear stain.

OT: Arrow is bitchin', and even though Barry was kind of a loser in the show, I'm looking forward to watching the Flash. I really hope DC uses them in the future Justice League amalgam. It'd be cool to even see it tied into the Gotham show (the Queen family, Detective Lance, etc.).
As much as it would be awesome to see them talk about them in Gotham, it wouldn't be as fun since they're on different networks and would use different actors.

I'm enjoying all of the Arrow/Flash crossover. In this week's Arrow, we see Felicity reading a blog about The Red Streak, presumably the one we know Iris is working on in The Flash.

Russia is a stupid host country because their national team is mediocre at best
Same could be said for most countries. It's not just about having a good team, it's also about having the infrastructure to host the largest and most important sporting event in the world.
It's also important to consider a host's country's laws and public regulations, since many people are going to be visiting for the World Cup/Olympics/whatever

is it really such a radical idea to consider, agnostically, that it's possible that a supernatural act (specifically using the word 'act' instead of 'thing') gave rise to the Universe?
Yes.

Going round and recording it shows that she actually wanted it to happen- at least in that instance.

Snooker is one of the few that I find tolerable <_<

The fuck is a snooker?
Billiards

Is that what yanks call it?
Yup

Silly yanks.
Eh, only half right. Snooker =/= billiards. Snooker is a game that falls under the umbrella of pocket billiards. There are a handful of different pocket billiard games [that I know of]

Great idea.

since this person had the mental capacity to choose Salvation or not before he became afflicted.......he is responsible for that.
If you don't believe in God, why would you "choose" salvation?

I'm pretty aware of how little god loves me.
You confuse struggles and challenges to overcome with God not loving you. You don't face those because of a lack of love, but because the presence of love. You will grow and become stronger, or you will inspire others to do so or live another way, everything is connected.
No.
Yes.
Which god is this again, are we referring tot he Christian god?
>Jesus thread
>which God?
What do you think?
Oh. He doesn't exist. But okay.
You don't exist. Wow that was easy.
Except there's proof that Nexus exists...

The thing that bothers me most about religion [Christianity in particular] is that no success is my own. All of the years of practice, training, and experience don't make me good at what I do; God does. It's not the coaches and teammates; it's God. It's not the teachers, tutors, and professors; it's God.

No, motherfucker. I worked hard for this shit. This is mine. You can't take it away from me.
I think you simply don't realize how it works.
>God creates everything
>People use what God created to do things for themselves and others
>People achieve things with what they created
>Thank God for allowing it all to be possible

Nobody is saying you didn't earn anything, nobody is saying that you or your teachers and friends and family didn't do anything to make whatever was achieved possible. All it is, is that God made it possible for it all to happen.

Sorry, but this argument always bugs me.
See, that's the problem. If God created everything, I am forever indebted to him for something he didn't have a hand in. It seems no different than the mob requiring business owners to pay "protection" fees. A portion of the business's earnings go to the mob even though the mob did nothing to earn it.
Except God isn't going to cripple you for not giving thanks to him. It's a courtesy, a humble acknowledgement, not a bill to pay.
So we're going to ignore the punishment of hell?
But Max, god lets you into heaven if you say you're sorry.

Unless you killed yourself over being in a bad situation that you had no help in.
Then fuck you.
Wut

If you kill someone and go to confession, say 3 hail marys and two our fathers and repent that way - If my understanding of catholic doctrine is correct you are forgiven those sins and can get into heaven if you have your last rites read.

If you commit suicide, you go to hell (Also according to catholic doctrine) as it's considered a mortal sin. This fails to take into account that it's not free will that leads people to choose suicide (In most cases) but is either a combination of an inescapable situation or mental illness.

So if the catholics are right, what kind of god punishes the weak and the ill but forgives the wicked?

There are many sects of Christianity that shouldn't even be called "Christianity".
There aren't even supposed to be denominations. That is cutting up "The Body of Christ". They all have their problems, some more than others.

Mhm, so what would the correct stance be then?
One is a penitent murderer and the other is a mentally ill person that commits suicide, who goes to heaven and who goes to hell?

It depends on whether they were saved or not.
Now for the mentally ill person, if they didn't have the capacity to accept Christ as Savior, or know right from wrong, Christ's death covers that.

David had a child die, and he comforted himself with the thought, “Can I bring him back again? I will go to him, but he will not return to me” (2 Samuel 12:23). David knew that he would see his child in heaven one day. From that statement, we can assume that babies and young children were, by God's grace, covered for salvation by Christ’s death. We can reason from this that mentally handicapped people are covered by this principle as well. The Word of God does not specifically say this, however. Knowing the love, grace, and mercy of God, this would seem consistent with His character
You're selling this like an insurance policy.
Isn't it?

What if the Mormons are the only ones that are right?

Dude, the Catholics have always been weird, don't blame us for them. Why anyone would expect a bunch of crazed Italians to get anything done right is beyond me.
Did I just hear that correctly? You called Catholics weird? Tsk tsk.
To be fair, Catholics do have some pretty bizarre traditions >>
Considering that I was raised Catholic... I don't know, everything religious outside of Catholicism's fanciness looks odd to me.

It might look odd but is it better to spend a million on making everything shiny and painted nicely in a church or to put that towards charity?
I was CofE where it's all quite spartan, so Catholic churches tend to look very ostentatious to me.
Well, when you think about it, it keeps the architects and workmen paid; and you end up with a badass-looking Cathedral. Kinda works out in the end.
Isn't there a whole thing about not living in luxury and shit?
