70k is affordable? shit...
Well, I didn't want people to list Ferraris and Lambos and shit. Maybe I'll get a used Dodge Viper. That would be sweet.

Story time.
This took place around Christmas 2011. I was at a friend's Christmas party at their house. A mutual friend, who none of us see too often, arrived with a very attractive girl. Because we were all a few years younger, we partied a bit harder and drank a bit more.
As the night went on, I had been chatting up the attractive young lady who arrived with my friend. She was really cool. Tattoos, worked in the music industry, enjoyed waxing philosophical. She hadn't been drinking that night since she was driving, unlike myself who was in a rather drunken state.
Because of my increased intoxication, I totally blanked when she left and I didn't ask for her number. Realizing this upon my return home, I tracked her down on facebook and shot her a message about how I enjoyed spending the evening with her and I'd really like to see her again.
Well, unbeknownst to me, she had been dating the guy she showed up with for a few weeks, as she indicated in her reply to my message. At no point did anyone think to mention this earlier in the night. What the fuck.
They're still together, years later, and I always think of this whenever I see them. Thankfully, it's still pretty infrequently that we actually hang out.

Smart cars.
Sometimes I think about them. They seem like a neat little car to dink around town with. Uncomfortable/not useful for any longer commutes, though.

This is news?
From a research standpoint, I think so. I'm pretty sure we all knew it was happening, though.

I feel I should point out liberals can be just as bad as conservatives when it comes to going against the push of science.
Namely when it comes to agriculture and energy.
I don't disagree. People from all sides do this.

http://today.duke.edu/2014/11/solutionaversionThere may be a scientific answer for why conservatives and liberals disagree so vehemently over the existence of issues like climate change and specific types of crime.
A new study from Duke University finds that people will evaluate scientific evidence based on whether they view its policy implications as politically desirable. If they don't, then they tend to deny the problem even exists.
“Logically, the proposed solution to a problem, such as an increase in government regulation or an extension of the free market, should not influence one’s belief in the problem. However, we find it does,” said co-author Troy Campbell, a Ph.D. candidate at Duke's Fuqua School of Business. “The cure can be more immediately threatening than the problem.”
The study, "Solution Aversion: On the Relation Between Ideology and Motivated Disbelief," appears in the November issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology (viewable at http://psycnet.apa.org/journals/psp/107/5/809/).
The researchers conducted three experiments (with samples ranging from 120 to 188 participants) on three different issues -- climate change, air pollution that harms lungs, and crime. Interesting

>wasting a change.org petition on this bullshit
>being this concerned over 10101010101010s
huh?
Petitions are for like, actual fucking problems. Not petty forum bullshit.
Your tears have brought prosperity to Africa
Can't you have a single conversation without being ridiculous?
I'm not the one coming in a thread being all whiny and shit over a small joke
It's not a joke if you actually took the time to make the petition.
If your thread was "lol we should change it to The Coliseum" - fine.
Do your students think you're boring? Because I have a feeling they do
What students? If you're going to take the time to try to insult me about my life, you would know that I have been a teacher for almost 2 years.

Why don't rename this forum to The Coliseum?
It would make since because many threads just turn into brawls
holy shit, that's actually a great idea
No, it only encourages this shitty behavior.

Again, you don't have to take it to heart because someone doesn't like you on the internet. What if I was depressed right now and you said all of that to me? You don't gain anything about making personal attacks, but someone certainly losses. Considering all of the suicidal talk that's been going around, that was a pretty dangerous move for you. I would advise against it in the future.
Once again, I'm going to report you.

Since when do these freaks have any political power?
I've never heard of them before.
They don't have ACTUAL political power, but televising their crazy lives somehow justifies their beliefs to a lot of people.
Are you sure about that?
This seems more like that Honey Boo Boo bullshit, people like to laugh at backwards hicks to feel better about their own worthless proletarian lives.
But the backward hicks have these things further ingrained with shows like this.

Funny how you get all asshurt at me posting a link from freedomworks and make a huge deal of it being biased yet you turn around and do this shit.
Because that's two totally different things. This is an opinion piece about this crazy family. Yours was about how Common Core is destroying education, when it obviously isn't.
Funny that you can't tell the difference between those two topics.
>dat damage control
TIL explaining the difference between two topics constitutes damage control Ok guy.

http://www.rawstory.com/rs/2014/11/the-duggars-arent-just-kooky-they-are-a-serious-political-threat-to-gay-rights-and-womens-rights/I'm surprised this is still a TV show And once a Duggar girl is married, says Mom, she is never allowed to say no to sex. “Duggar women don’t get headaches,” Michelle told us. “You always need to be available when he calls.” And if you’re not always available—if you do get a headache, or you’re just not in the mood one night, or if turns out that your husband prefers Dad’s auditions—then you’re to blame when your husband cheats on you. [...] And because you are not allowed to use birth control, that means that you have literally no say whatsoever in your reproductive life. You are, quite literally, not a person, but simply a tool for which a man relieves himself sexually and an oven in which he bakes his offspring. Your opinion on the matter is of no more value than a refrigerator’s opinion on what food you store in it. [...] This double standard that conservatives are pushing, where religious fanatics like the Duggars get to say and do whatever they want to interfere with our sex lives but we are not supposed to even make jokes about their unhealthy, misogynist ideals is more than just culture war posturing, though. The Duggars are useful as a political tool for the right. They are held up as an ideal by right wingers because they make an excellent cudgel to beat women with. They help instill the idea that it’s normal and okay to demand that women relinquish 100% of their sexual and reproductive autonomy, and therefore the usual conservative demands that we just lose, oh, 50% of our basic autonomy sound more reasonable in comparison. Holy shit.
