Everyone was perfectly willing to sacrifice their privacy to massive conglomerate corporations so they could get access to Google and Facebook for free, but as soon as the NSA was 'revealed' to be collecting metadata (which requires a legal warrant to investigate, and really has no bearing on your personal privacy) it was immediately painted as this huge comic book tier government conspiracy.
...you don't see the difference between being able to choose what information you publish online, and the information the government gathers on you without your consent?

That was the most bitch ass pitch ive ever seen, and I've seen my nieces throw.
Bush had good form and a good throw.
Obama's throw proves he ain't American
Apparently there's an ESPN 30 for 30 about Bush's pitch after 9/11. It's supposed to be good, I haven't seen it though.

Why does everyone think Californians don't have guns? Many of my friends own at least one gun... CA is #2 on the list of number of guns, second only to Texas, of course. This is 2009 data though http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=197866

Yes.
The only reason we perceive our existence is because our brain is functioning. Once it ceases to function and our heart stops beating, there's nothing left.

When I first heard people calling him a traitor I thought it was some bizarre parody of how an idiot would respond to someone helping them understand their government better, but I guess people just honestly believe he is one.
The only true patriot is he who supports his country unconditionally. Exposing what your elected representatives are up to behind closed doors is the worst thing you could do

"If you see something, say something"*
*unless it's the government. If you say something, we'll prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law and/or make sure you're dead

What's your budget?
I'm contributing $200, but my folks are also contributing as a birthday gift.
So...$300? $400? It's also gonna be on a new contract, so I won't be paying full price for the phone.
I'd pass on the Note 5. Maybe the Galaxy S6, or the LG G4 are great phones. Note 4 if you want to save a few bones but still have a great phone
Why Android?
The current iPhone is always a good phone, no argument there, but if you're looking at bang for your buck, you're better off getting an Android phone. Plus you get things like SD card slots with many Android phones. Paying $100 more for the better internal storage option is dumb when you can just toss in a 128gb SD card for less than $100.
Yes, but my entire app, music, video library is running on Apple - how easy is it to transfer to Android, and is it comparable in services?
I don't care much about customization and themes - I would never use it.
Well if you're already deeply invested into the Apple ecosystem, then anything that isn't Apple is pointless. But that's exactly how Apple operates and exactly what they want to happen.

I guess by your line of reasoning it would be 'Christianophobic' to disagree with sects of Christianity. Get fucked kid.
Disagreeing with a religion is fine. Asserting that being a Muslim means you're dangerous isn't.
Literally who said this.
Um, you?
Anti Islamism being a bad thing...how?
Because the vast majority of muslims are no different than your harmless Christian grandma. Only the extremists are something to worry about, but every religion has its extremists. This whole Glenn Beck bullshit is pure fear mongering.
http://ukpollingreport.co.uk/blog/archives/291 78% of British Muslims think the Danish cartoonist who drew a picture of Muhammed should've been prosecuted.
http://www.theguardian.com/uk/2009/may/07/muslims-britain-france-germany-homosexuality 0% of British Muslims think homosexuality is tolerable.
And this is all from a Western democracy.
And Meta?
Anti Islamism being a bad thing...how?

78pc of Muslims think the Danish cartoonist back in 2005 should've been prosecuted for those cartoons.
25pc of Muslims supported the 7/7 bombers.
24pc believe suicide bombing can be justified, and this rises to 36pc among young Muslims specifically.
33pc believe apostates should be killed, while 28pc favour turning the country into an Islamic state.
And--here's the kicker--these statistics are all from Britain. Get the fuck out of here with your PC bullshit.
I fail to see where I specified all Muslims within those statistics.
What's the point in posting those statistics if you aren't talking about all Muslims? The discussion up to that point had been about all Muslims, and how only a small percentage of them are dangerous/a threat.

Literally what?
Posting statistics about specific communities within the Muslim population means I'm talking about the population as a whole? As opposed to, y'know, the communities to which those statistics refer?
If your purpose in posting those statistics wasn't to indicate that being Muslim means you are a threat, and/or you sympathize with what extremists have done, then what was your point in posting it?

i really don't see the problem of requiring a form of identification to vote. I mean how do you get through daily life without having at least some kind of ID?
Because voting isn't exactly the kind of thing to be regulated like driving a car, buying alcohol, etc. If obtaining an ID was free and easy, I would have less of an objection to it. But the problem is that voter ID laws don't prevent voter fraud and rather keep upstanding citizens from voting. Voter fraud is such an infinitesimal occurrence, establishing voter ID laws is a waste of time.

Seriously.
Remember that time when a red state required ID to vote, and promptly shut down a bunch of DMVs in black areas? What a crazy time that was in our country.
...oh, that was this month.
To be fair, there is still a location in every country for people to get a voter ID.
It's not like they'll have to travel to other cities to get one.
Because having fewer DMVs to serve the same number of people won't make it difficult for people to get an ID, right?
It's not just DMV's that are issuing the ID's - I believe government offices are as well.
This is just a nonissue.
Is that true? I've never heard of other offices besides the DMV issuing IDs.

I went through this recently with both my dogs in a 6-month period. My parents spent ~$10k between the two trying to extend their lives despite serious illness. Ended up putting both down.
Given the age of the animal, any more than $1500 or so is a no-go, and probably better to put it down.

If you disagree with Utley's slide, you know nothing about baseball.
Clean play. Clean Player.
Lets go Dodgers.
That's exactly the problem, an unsportsmanlike play such as that is legal in baseball. In any other sport, Utley would have been penalized/ejected. The fact Utley slid SO late shows he had no intention of sliding into the base, but rather to impact Tejada.
Its part of the game and has been for over 100 years. The catcher rule implemented was straight up definition of pussification of america.
Utley plays hard and plays the game the right way. Has done so his entire career.
The catcher rule was long overdue and resulted in a safer game. People shouldn't be getting season/career ending injuries as "part of the game"
That's some neanderthal thinking.
Many catchers have even spoke out against the Buster Posey rule. It makes a mockery of the game.
Having fewer plays that result in injury is a mockery of the game? This is baseball, not boxing.
A play at the plate was one of the most exciting plays in baseball. Now its just a joke.
If it results in fewer serious injuries and concussions, I'm ok with that. Longer, healthier careers for your players is fine with me.

In unrelated discussion: it's shitty that I have to pay $10 more to watch the games on mlb.tv even though I paid for a subscription the whole season.

I'm sure waiting hours to go to the DMV is exactly what people have time to be doing. If you're a poor/middle class person, you can't exactly be taking several hours off work to get an ID.

Holy shit Chase Utley.
That was a nasty slide, but you gotta do what you gotta do to prevent a double play.
Its a shame Tejeda got injured and I'm shocked that nothing happened to Utley.
There's difference between a play where you're breaking up a double play, and one where you're clrealy targeting the SS to injure him. 100% unsportsmanlike. The fact that not only was he not ejected, but also called safe after review, shows how broken the current rules are. We have rules protecting catchers, and they have protective gear on. Why not infielders who are unprotected?
