Of that scale, yeah. My Audi A3 s-line is "nice" compared to my friends' 4Runners and Kia Souls, but it's nothing compared to things better than it.

I don't pirate games unless I can't obtain them in the US. I fully understand and respect the amount of time and effort it takes to produce most videogames. Not paying for them is just wrong. Same goes for movies.

Music on the other hand? Absolutely should be pirated. It's a fucking 2-3 minute sound clip. It takes minimal  time and effort to edit and produce. Musicians can make their money by actually touring and entertaining. The Music industry is a fucking cancer.
While I do agree that musicians can and should make most of their money from touring/performances/merch sales, it's certainly not easy to write a good song.

Why aren't we talking about illegal Canadian immigrants?

Yet here you are, repeating yourself

Kinder, we can keep going around in circles all night, but I actually have shit to do for the website and college. So, I'm going to leave you some links for you to read and hopefully educate yourself.

Or, you can just skim them and claim liberal bias. Whichever makes you feel better.

Click for Evidence

Let me share some - first, on the border's budget (On the increase) versus Number of people caught

Roughly, it's costing taxpayers 10,000 dollars for every capture of an illegal. 10,000 dollars for every single capture. That is a huge waste of money that could be saved with a reformed system.

Now, let's look at those who attempt to come here legally, by the system that you say is fine but only needs to be enforced.

Quote
Until the early 1990s, less than 3 percent of petitions for naturalization were denied annually. Since then, denials have become much more common.

It's become harder to get naturalized, peaking in the year 2000, as shown below.

This image shows the number of people getting green cards, and why:

Quote
The vast majority of people who obtain permanent residency — "green cards" — are relatives of U.S. citizens. Since at most 7 percent of green cards can legally come from a single country, it's difficult for skilled professionals with no ties to the U.S. to get permanent residency

This makes it difficult for people to legally immigrate here if they do not have family here already. Hence, people resort to illegally coming because they have little option.

As a result, the nation is having trouble getting high skilled workers into the U.S. The L-1B visa allows companies to bring people with "specialized knowledge" like engineers and programmers into the U.S. Denial rates have jumped since the 1990s, as shown in this chart.

Serious / Re: Give me a good reason to make military impersonation a felony
« on: November 19, 2014, 04:59:57 PM »
Well, trespassing for one. Pretending to be in the military grants you access to bases (though I'd hope MP's or whoever guards the entrance actually check ID's...).

Then from trespassing, theft. Assuming you were able to get into a base, you could always help yourself to some fancy military hardware.
But we're not talking about gaining access to military bases. We're talking about wearing a military uniform.
Oh I'm sure looking the part would help you if you had the motive. Same as having a fluorescent orange jacket means unlimited power to the average person in most places, or having white lab coat can make you a scientist.

I bunch it together with impersonating a police officer, or anything that has authority. If you're going to impersonate them there is most likely a nefarious reason behind it.
While that's mostly true, I don't see why simply wearing it should be a felony. Abusing your perceived power while wearing the uniform - sure.

Are immigrants really taking REAL jobs? They aren't being hired as accountants or customer service reps. They're picking berries and shit.
They're being hired as construction workers, lawn care workers, etc

Other people aren't being hired as accountants or customer service reps. either. Not like there's an endless supply of these jobs
Then the people in construction and lawn care should lower their costs in order to compete with illegal immigrants.
The easiest way to lower costs would be to lower wages, but the federal minimum wage law prevents that.
That was my point :P

Why people ever thought that would pass in Cali is beyond me...
Well, it did, and then was overturned.

I attribute that to voter ignorance and tricky wording on the ballots.

A "no" vote for Prop 8 was in favor of legalizing gay marriage.
A "yes" vote was against.

It wouldn't surprise me if a good number of people voted "yes" because they wanted to legalize gay marriage.

“I wanted to show that reality is cool,” Lamm says. “And a lot of toys make kids go into fantasy, but why don’t they show real life is cool? It’s not perfect, but it’s really all we have. And that’s awesome.”

But real proportions and movement weren’t enough. Before putting the $24.99 dolls on sale — 19,000 dolls are going to backers, but 25,000 more are ready to be shipped before the holidays — Lamm decided to take things a step further.

Enter the $5.99 sticker extension pack, available in January. Lamm says it took four months to find the proper sticker material, that gives the doll’s face acne, freckles, moles, and the ability to blush

What's next? GI Joe with a beer gut and PTSD?

Even though I don't know all the details on the situation, honestly, what he's doing doesn't seem like a problem.

I mean they're already there in the first place. It's not like they're just going to pack up and leave. And 5 million is nothing as a number for the states in terms of population.
It would also be a HUGE economic hit to those areas with a high illegal immigrant population. Suddenly 5 million people are removed from your grocery stories, shopping malls, restaurants, gas stations? Good luck with that...

it's fucking hard as hell to watch and keep up with TV series in the UK, none of the channels air the shows that I want to watch
Same for us on the other side of the pond for UK shows. There's a handful of British shows I really enjoy, but it's impossible to watch them here.

I pirate music because I don't have money. Soon as I get a job I'll gladly pay.
You can't afford like..$10/mo for Spotify or something?

IMO, piracy is acceptable in these cases:

1) you have taken reasonable measures to attempt to buy the media legally, but it is not sold in your country/region
2) you have taken reasonable measures to attempt to buy the media legally, but it is no longer in publication

Other than that, you just want something for free.
